A video of the melodic outline for this year’s third etude (Andersen Op.37/7). As you perform this etude, work to bring out the melody within the flurry of notes and strive for a light, playful, & waltz-like style. The tempo of this video is dotted quarter = 54, which is the maximum tempo provided by TMEA. I would not recommend going too much faster than this.

I'm a freshman but I have this weird thing that my flute starts to roll I. When I play for a few seconds should I buy a thumb port I know they are expansive
It doesn’t show in this video, but I use a Thumb Port and it works really well for me in keeping my thumb in the same place and overall relieving tension in my right hand/wrist. I’d highly recommend it, but there are alternatives out there (flute cushions) that are a little cheaper and will also assist with thumb positioning.
