    The safe speed pertains to the speed a vessel can travel without encountering any danger, while taking into consideration the current conditions, including visibility, density of traffic, the state of the sea, and the maneuverability of the ship. Generally, a safe speed is the one that enables the vessel to come to a stop or adjust course suitably within a rational distance, if needed. Supposing you are pursuing a career in the maritime field, you will gain knowledge about the particular aspects that dictate a secure speed, along with the laws relevant to distinct vessel kinds and circumstances.

    the risk of collision refers to the potential danger of two vessels colliding while underway. Such a risk can arise when vessels are traveling in close proximity and there is little communication or understanding of each other's intentions. The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea COLREGS aim to avoid such risks by providing rules for vessel navigation. These rules include maintaining proper lookout, observing safe distance, and taking speedy and suitable measures to prevent collision. As a maritime student, it is essential to comprehend and comply with these regulations to ensure secure navigation and avoid risks of collision while at sea.

    A narrow channel is a part of a waterway that is not wide enough for two ships to safely pass each other. In the context of Colregs International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, a narrow channel is defined as a channel that is less than 300 meters wide or a channel that has an area of water that is designated as a narrow channel by the relevant authority. When navigating in a narrow channel, ships must keep to the starboard side of the channel and avoid obstructing the passage of other vessels. The purpose of these rules is to prevent collisions and ensure the safe and efficient navigation of ships in confined waters.

    Rule 15 of the COLREGS deals with the circumstance in which two vessels are crossing each other's path. It requires that when two power-driven vessels are crossing paths in a way that could lead to a collision, the vessel that has the other on its own right side starboard side should maintain its course, while the other vessel on the left or port side should give way and avoid crossing in front of it, if possible. It is crucial for students of maritime to comprehend the COLREGS thoroughly for secure navigation and to prevent collisions with other boats.

    For my understanding that situation are for every vessel to have a skilled and attentive lookout who uses available resources like sight, hearing, and other applicable measures to properly evaluate any potential collision risks in the current situation. The obligation to identify likely threats using techniques like binoculars, radar, and listening for fog signals is imposed on each vessel. Staying aware and watchful at all times is essential to secure the safety of the vessel and all individuals on board.

    My understanding of the Rule 5 of the International Regulations for Preventing COLREGS states that every vessel shall maintain a proper lookout by sight and hearing as well as by all available means appropriate in the prevailing circumstances and conditions so as to make a full appraisal of the situation and of the risk of collision. In other words, it is the duty of every vessel to keep a lookout to avoid collisions at sea. As a maritime student, it is important to understand and follow all the rules of COLREGS to ensure safety at sea.

    A head-on situation refers to a situation where two vessels are approaching each other in such a way that their bows front endsare in line with each otherIn other words, they are heading towards each other in opposite directions. This is a risky situation as it increases the possibility of a collision. As a maritime student, it is important for you to understand the principles of navigation and the importance of maintaining a safe distance and speed while on water to avoid such situations.

  • @user-qe9lj3mk1y
    @user-qe9lj3mk1y Год назад

    For my understanding according to the COLREGS, Rule 12 mandates a vessel traveling through a narrow channel or fairway to remain as close as possible to the outer edge of the channel, provided it is safe and reasonable to do so. The objective behind this rule is to lower the likelihood of accidents in restricted waterways by compelling ships to travel in a consistent manner and stay a safe distance away from other vessels. For aspiring maritime scholars, it is critical to gain a thorough understanding of every regulation in the COLREGS to promote safe and effective navigation out at sea.

    I am Rove Baulita BSMT 1-O for my understanding that situation are To prevent a collision with another vessel, the crew of a watercraft takes a series of actions known as the action to avoid collision, which may involve adjusting direction, speed, using sound alerts, and even halting the engine if needed. for Preventing Collisions at Sea lay out specific guidelines on the measures to avoid collisions to guarantee the safety of all ships in the maritime environment. Being knowledgeable of these protocols is crucial for aspiring maritime professionals to attain competency and responsibility as seafarers.

  • @user-qe9lj3mk1y
    @user-qe9lj3mk1y Год назад

    good morning sir I am Rove Baulita from Bsmt 1-O for my understanding that situation are when two vessels are approaching each other at right angles or nearly so, it is known as a crossing situation. Such a scenario presents a risk of collision due to each vessel's relative motion across the other's path. As per the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea COLREGS, the vessel on the right-hand side has the right of way, and the vessel on the left-hand side must take early and substantial action to avoid a collision. However, if a collision appears imminent or there is any doubt about the other vessel's intentions, both vessels are responsible for taking necessary action. Hence, marine students must understand and comply with COLREGS to ensure safe navigation and avoid accidents.
