      Thanks. I’ve worked Oscar a few times. I love the lower angle passes to the east because I have a pretty clear view in that direction. West passes give me grief because I have houses and trees blocking a lot of it. 2 degrees is low, that’s great. All I need for was satellite is Hawaii, which will be tough if I don’t get my antennas a bit higher.

    Hey Jay! I was on this pass also. It was nice to work a new satellite. On my side I could barely hear myself on downlink, but I could hear the others pretty solid. Kind of the way it first started for you in the video. It was a low pass for me though. I noticed on this recording the same kind of fading I had, but your receive was much stronger than mine most of the pass. You caught me at the end, and you can hear I was barely audible. 73!

    • @jaystephenson
      @jaystephenson 2 месяца назад

      Yeah, I could definitely hear you in there and I responded. I wasn’t sure if you heard me or not but nevertheless, I did put it in the log. That is if they ever add it to lotw. I did notice a bit of fading in and out on a couple of the qso’s. I managed to squeak out another contact on a very low pass as well. 73

Similar thing happened to me when calling N5ACR as well. And yeah the station openly calling NA1SS was funny (considering the astronauts were asleep for like ~5 hours lol). I think it was just an extra busy weekend pass. 73s from Joe KE2CD

    I often feel like I am missing out on working the FM birds living in Hawaii....but then I get reminded of how bad many of the passes can be. I wonder how much of it is poor operating practice and how much of it is people with inadequate stations that can't properly hear the satellite and have no idea they are stepping on everyone.

  • @W0CYC-HamRadioEndeavors
    @W0CYC-HamRadioEndeavors 3 месяца назад

    WOW, you caught a mess on this one Jay. This has to be the worst operating practice we see on the satellites, when you call a station and someone immediately calls the same station when the station you called should be responding. Next to operators just giving their callsign non stop and not actually calling anyone that is....... Good try on this Cluster F**K Jay, 73!!

    I like listening to HAM Radio. My Grandfather had one. I'm in Canada. Province of Ontario and I remembered listening to HAM radio on a 3Ghrz Radio Shack handheld receiver. Because of this, I watch the ISS flying by over our skies here. Summer is the best time to view it. As the season goes into Fall/Winter the orbit gets lower - about 15-10 degrees about the horizon which makes it hard for us to watch. I even took pictures and videos of the ISS when it was just ABOVE us almost at Zenith point. P.S. I still have that Radio Shack Handheld Scanner :) Here is the Official Name: PRO-26 Portable 200-Channel Scanner with Continuous 25 MHz to 1.3 GHz Coverage. (This is from the Owner's Manual) which I have and in perfect condition. From all of these radio chat - I began to explore the world of Number Stations in which I find it fascinating and founds ways to place them in my music/videos :) Thanks for sharing :)
