Are you always double headed in video's and what you normally dragging 👍
"Dear Mary, Yes, it will be bliss To go with you by train to Diss, Your walking shoes upon your feet; We'll meet, my sweet, at Liverpool Street." John Betjeman to Harold Wilson's wife, incredibly.
Why is the AWS intermittent ?
Do you just take these two locomotives out on runs or are you pulling wagons ?
I surprised they didn’t lose you (detection) in the DGL at Barham.
There are 8 axles/wheelsets between the two locomotives, so track circuit detection shouldn't really be an issue...
@@bigcasey4143 many moons ago I remember a MGR got put into a very little used loop and the signaler forgot about it, because it disappeared off his board.
Dave was always a better than driver than @mickLewis
I really enjoyed the video, but it would have been helpful to have captions showing information such as each station passed, the location, tunnels and their length, as well as any other relevant information. But that was a nice journey. I wish I could have been in the cab, it would have been more enjoyable.
Can we have some captions on the next one? Thanks
Hi, not living in the UK, what are these locos and what are they used for? You can hear the alarm for the ‘dead man’s alarm’ but not the signal warning alarms?
They are br class 20s, they used to be used as freight trains but are now retired and used for railtours and used on heritage railways
There's an immaculate pair belonging to Balfour Beattie that were parked in the sidings at Welwyn Garden City for some time during October/November 2024 @@itsyeboicraig3207
I wondered about the signal warning AWS myself .
Pity about no live sound. Otherwise interesting.
Is the drain train coming back to Colchester on the 14/15th December? There's another 6JO9 working according to rail record?
This thing sounds like Darth Vader.
I find your lack of faith in Class 20s disturbing...
Very interesting, I'd never seen the link under Highbury Fields from a traffic perspective before, only the line from the Drayton Park and Corsica Street ends.
Was the 2nd leg of the journey, Colchester to Diss, recorded?
Yes in two parts.
Some captions would have been useful.
Me at 30:01 fat guy by the footbridge
You're either driving a set of class 20's or you driving a tamper, from the sounds of the rattling going on in the cab I'm thinking a pair of 20's
The cab noise does not relate to this video. From the thumbnail it’s a pair of 20s but the sound is more like a peak at not much more than tickover. The only one of his with real sound to my knowledge was Hounslow to Acton.
witch loco are you driving?
It's all prerecoded sound. Doesn't relate to the video. Click his channel and you'll see. Causes all sorts of controversy. It would be better silent.
@@andrewmcilwraith1997I don’t agree it would be better silent.
@@andrewmcilwraith1997 I just mute the sound. No need for people to get cross.
Thank you, very interesting.
Names of stations would be great!
The new sidings for the Class 701 fleet just before Feltham.
Absolutely brilliant is there a part 1 to this ❤
Interesting video but can we have the real soundtrack?
Near Where I live Derby Excellent Video Mick
Oh, and why are there 3 tracks leading north up to Clay Cross? There was nothing on the third line all your video. England is so over-provided.
How many lines did the Midland Railway think they needed? Some of the route it looks like it used to be 8 tracks. The Midland coal trains chugging round with their 4-4-0s! Ugh boring! I used to live next to Chesterfield railway station. I wasted 3 years of my 20s - 3 years of my 20s - in Chesterfield. Can a hellhole be boring? Yes, Chesterfield. And you end up at Staveley! OK, Barrow Hill, but much the same. Actually I loved the crossing opening at the end. But Chesterfield was a big mistake - BIG!!!! They say that when you die you don't regret the things you did but only what you didn't do. They didn't spend time in Chesterfield! You can regret the things you did!

Will there be a video from System - Barrow?
Some captions along the way would have been nice to see along with the video. Still a nice ride.
Yes, totally agree, anything interesting along the way, i.e. Stations, junctions, viaducts etc would make it even better. Still enjoyable.
8:30 Who else but the British would make a railway tunnel look like a Medieval castle? I like it!
There's loads like that or not dissimilar.
Rutland...the only uk county with only a single railway station
I suppose it’s better to have sound (others may disagree) although it’s bears no relationship to the journey, as witnessed by AWS bells/buzzers going off with no relationship to the AWS magnets ~
Same old, same old I'm afraid.
Wigston North jcn, where I used to do my 'spotting' in the 70s...... 😊
I agree about the soundtrack. It's a shame because authentic audio adds a lot to the cab view experience. I guess it's better than total silence, as in some videos, but still a shame. Apart from that - good stuff.
whats up with the soundtrack? it sounds like its on a repetitive 2 minute loop. No AWS or horns at whistle boards, no sounds of passing trains or over pointwork. Sounds like its taken from a train simulator!! Just looked at your other videos and they all use the same soundtrack. I'm assuming this is due to operational restrictions?
Who knows the whole video is from train sim
what class of loco/ train is this ? what a weird a hypnotic noise, as a driver myself i've never heard anything like that..
Class 20
@@kyleJohn1997I still call them Type 1s 😄👴🏻
@@spookytooth2024 Back in the BR Green era?
@@kyleJohn1997 oh yes, and Peaks instead of Class 45s! Always loved the whistle sound from the engine of a Type 1, and always seen in pairs 😊
nice one Mick! Great video
What is this engine(s) being used for !!!
Were you not whistling because it was after hours (summertime evening light), or does the soundtrack not match the actual video?
Same soundtrack on all videos, live would have been better, thumping music would have been way worse. I presume it is because of recording restrictions in the cab.
As a Melton Mowbray resident it was great to see this video footage from the Driver's cab passing through Melton Station etc. A railway line I've used many times. Great footage and you have a great selection of videos. Keep up the good work!
nice video. "Driver's eye view" - except for the last 2 minutes, when I assume you walked throught o the other cab
Enjoyable: was the AWS a bit random !!!
Very nice trip
I remember in the 70’s it was rare to see 20’s at Wellingborough but would occasionally work into Finedon Road on a Coal Train on a Saturday morning in place of a 44 Peak. I see most bridges have gone or lined out and the Lever Boxes and Semaphores all gone too. The lines Midland character has gone as well. Progress.
Good video, was wondering that class 20 loco you have, do you use them for pulling stuff during your videos or what do you use them for??
Excellent! And good to see how much OHLE has sprung up since whenever it was I last caught a train beyond Kettering.
Awesome video Do you ever pass through Hinckley station at all me and my girlfriend live in Hinckley what train you were driving from Wellingborough to wigston north
Isn't there talk of reopening to passengers ?
Apparently yes.
Remind me - is this a measurement train?
