Hi, Dave: I was up there working alone too. Hopefully you are replacing the inverter on a panel that has another panel below it. I have 4 panels that face East and my first attempt was on the top right panel. First try to read the serial number on your "dead" panel with your phone's camera. Have Enphase verify that the serial number is the dead one. My installer cross-labeled my #4 panel facing East with my #3 panel facing South (I could tell instantly from the daily production numbers, & Enphase switched the two panels on their end). Once you verify that the panel that appears "dead" has the dead inverter's serial number, remove the 2 end clamps IF there is another panel below it that will keep it from sliding down the incline. Next, loosen the 2 center bolts (do NOT remove) & slide the panel towards you until it is clear of the 2 center fasteners, raise it up & put 2 short supports under it (avoid doing this on a windy day). When I was replacing the inverter on a bottom row panel, I would bring up a cement block and heavy string so I could tie the panel to the track above it at it's middle. I also brought up wood of 2 different lengths; you will need 2 short pieces to hold the panel up while you duck under with the special tool and jiggle the connections apart coming FROM the panel; once those wires are disconnected, you can prop the panel up higher so you can get underneath it to get to the inverter connections at the track. The panel isn't too heavy, it is the sheer bulk (size) that requires careful handling. I have never removed an entire panel; I merely raised it up & put 2 wood supports underneath to hold it while either rope (string) or a cement block acted to assist in holding it from sliding off the roof. Enphase may be using the new inverter for several different panels; thus the 3 different cables. Be sure to select the cables that match the connections that you separated. Be sure to get some long heavy zip ties to hold the wires up off the roof. Our Home Depot did not have super size heavy duty zip ties that one needs, but Wal-Mart did have them. You don't need birds, squirrels, or other rodents gnawing on or pulling apart your wiring. On day #1, I would get up on the roof before sunrise with my cement block, spray Liquid Wrench on the bolts and I would carefully break loose the bolts on the problem panel. If that process took too long, I would make the bolts "snug" again, and plan on returning the next morning to install the new inverter. Roof shingles get very hot, very fast in the sunlight. After installing the new inverter, you must phone Enphase so they can retire the old dead serial number and activate your new inverter serial number. Work safely, and try not to hurry; a fall from the roof will cost more in hospital bills than the $$$ you saved by doing it yourself. For me, it was a learning experience and a $$$ saver... D.

@@DMaui-mq8qm The bad inverter is on an upper panel. So it should be easier to raise. Question: I have two breakers for the solar system, one at the main electrical panel and a separate box with a pull switch disconnect. I plan on turning both off. Did your system have any other breakers?

@@Dakimis Turning off both is a good idea; better overkill than getting yourself zapped. My installer took the excess wires coming from the panel and tied them into a big figure 8. This prevented me from raising the panel any more than 12-15". I had to use the special tool and disconnect the wires from the panel FIRST; then I could raise it to 24"+ to crawl under it. The fact that it is an upper panel will make your first attempt much easier. If it is an end panel that is mounted vertically, you will merely raise it on the 2 rails and put 2 short pieces of wood to hold it up. A horizontally mounted panel requires a large block of wood (4 x 6 x 12) centered on the panel to raise it since it will not be touching the tracks when raised. As soon as I connected the panel's leads to the new inverter, a green light came on. Ignore it since you shut down the power before starting. My system was installed in 2014; everything is new today. They don't sell my rails or the fittings that hold down my panels. Use care when handling your bolts; I even took mine down to the garage, cleaned them up, & used a metric tap & die to ensure that my problems would be minimal. To date, I have had to replace 4 inverters; the first 2 were in the top row which are easy, the last 2 were in the bottom row which required blocking the panel & tying it to the tracks above to ensure that it would not slide off the roof. Use common sense & logic and you will have no problems... D.

Replaced the inverter yesterday. It went pretty smoothly. Placed wooden boards to prop them up. Used the tool to disconnect the cables. Little tricky to get it in the right spot! The bolts came off after soaking in penetrant. Cleaned them up and reused. Some of the original ties were broken after 12 years. Replaced but should have gotten extra heavy duty ones like you. Question - the old inverter had the ground wire screwed on top of them. The replacement didn’t have anywhere to screw in the ground wire. But since the inverter is connected to the railing and the ground wire is also, should it matter?

@@Dakimis Glad to hear that all went well. None of my inverters have a ground wire; the bolt holding the inverter to the rail is sufficient grounding. I had 4 inverters fail and Enphase supplied replacements. When the 5th one "died", Enphase revived it twice. I check my system daily and one day ALL the inverters that I had replaced were not producing. Enphase asked about my installer who is no longer here. I asked the rep at Enphase what would kill the 4 inverters that I had replaced myself? Did my installer hit a reset button to restore the inverters to their original serial numbers? I told the Enphase rep that I wanted my installer deleted from having access to my system since he is no longer in business. The rep also told me that there was another entity that could access my system that I never heard of. I told him that must be my installers back door and to delete that entity as well. Now Enphase & I are the only ones that can access my system. The 5th inverter that "died" twice and was revived twice has NOT failed again since my installer cannot access my system. Would an installer create work for himself by shutting down inverters intentionally? I wonder... D.

I started fixing the tires myself afterwards, never had a problem with plugs. If I have any kind of problem next time I need replacement, I'll be buying equipment to replace my own tires...

Mattel COULD design such a doll as an official Barbie (anatomically correct without any crevices) so it would/could not be used for any other purpose. If other collectors are satisfied with the S.O.S. that is fine, I didn't buy my dolls for the manufacturer's intended purpose. Both "guns" are props. There is a seller at Etsy that sells the models in pieces that were made on a 3D printer. You have to paint & assemble the props. The pieces have indentations for the letters & characters imprinted on the "gun". First you paint the base color (black) & then you carefully let the gold paint flow into the indented grooves; repeat will be necessary if too much paint is placed in a groove. 10Q for your interest.

Sorry to take so long getting back to you. The Birds of Prey mallet popcorn bucket came with a clear plastic lid. It has tapered sides and you push it down until the upper lip stops it. THAT lid is where you are making the "face" that was missing from the original mallet. The double face tape that is used to make the face should be easy to take out should you ever wish to restore the bucket to it's original state. The State Attorney General's office handed the matter over to the Honolulu police department on Oahu for input which is where the A.G. office is as well. The photos that were sent to the A.G were taken on Maui but since 75% of the residents of Hawaii live on Oahu the problem is worse over there. Yes, Leta, they WANT you to buy 4 at a time but they can't "force" you. We dispose of working cell phones just to have the newest model, and many other items are filling our dump sites before their useful time is reached. New tires, especially the higher $$$, are being made with a softer polymer compound; the warranty is 20,000 miles less, AND they are leaving black rubber tread marks in cement driveways nationwide. I just got a quote for $468 for four tires from costco. This price includes a 110 discount for buying a set of 4. If i get 2 at costco it would cost 289. For this price its a no brainer to get all 4. Yes i have 2 tires that have decent tread on them but this is because I choose to not rotate my tires regularly. I also am electing to keep 1 of the good tires to put on my spare tire as that one is pretty old.

First off just because you and a few buds from different generations agreed with you doesn’t mean that’s 3 generations on board with you. Your statement about front tires wearing is correct, but that doesn’t mean you put new tires in the front. The reason we put new tires in the back is because the back provides stability. With worn tires you can fish tail and just straight up slide. Your front tires get worn on the sides and rear tires get worn down the middle. If you keep your rear tires on instead of moving them will you be okay… yes for the time being, but why unnecessary wear your new front tires more and sacrifice stability faster when you can have the best of both worlds. Just cuz you used to do something and it worked doesn’t mean it’s advisable nowadays. Take your business elsewhere if you’re gonna complain about someone helping you.

You are better off replace all 4 tires at the same time and rotate the tires every year. Costco will do this for free. If all 4 tires are not in the same condition, you are asking for trouble.
