Derestrict Vulcan S 650
Short, completely non technical tutorial on de-ristricting the Vulcan S 650 including basic info on removing the throttle stop.
Throttle stop was recorded before I decided to do a proper tutorial so apologies for the lack of info in regards to that.
For the record, I have since found out that there s a hex key/allen key under the left side panel that is removed with your bike key that you can use to remove the seat and access the tools.

Hi Ali im in the group too. Im a bit worried about this. So I wanted to do this but does this help the jerky throttle at all? I struggle to shift gears smoothly because of it.
Very informative guys. Even after many years, your video is still helps
Torx 25* 😘
I have a 2024 Vulcan 650 S cafe.. wondering if this will still work on the newer models??
Thank you😊
just for information she have just remove the regulating tension and breaker stop, CAuUTION this operation do'nt change cartography and and can wear prematurely due to poor air fuel and lubrication mixture
How annoying is your voice. I’d rather listen to finger nails down a blackboard.
If you cut the loop and wire in a toggle switch you now have a fun mode and a wet weather mode. 😁
Great info! Did your engine light come on?
Thank you for sahring. I don't own a Vulcan S right now, but I might in the future and if I do I'll perform these tricks to it. No sense in having the power and then restricting it. I want it all. Thanks again.
These arnt restricted in usa right? I habe checked this but il my throttle wasnt restricted brand new bike no bolt
Awesome..thankyou ✌️
Can we do this to. 2016 model eu version ?
Hi Ali S! Love the vid. Quick one. How did that Corbin saddle work out for you? My stock saddle is not great and looking for alternatives.. let me know :)
Thanks from Germany.

Looks to me that the connecter has a wire looped back into it self. So id think by removing the wire would work better than pulling the connector apart!?
Any chance this will work on a 2002 Vulcan Nomad?
what’s the p or l mean so i can know i legally can
why do they restrict it?
Thank you
I would suggest you do some more in depth research... in order to derestrict the Kawasaki Vulcan S, one must send the ECU away to be flashed by someone that has the technology, just taking out the bolt from the throttle body, or disconnecting the diagnostic plug, does not totally derestrict the bike, when sending off the ECU to only two places in Australia able to be flashed, if you have an after market Two Brothers muffler etc, or a K&N filter, you must inform those flashing the ECU of the changes you have made so they can get the air and fuel mixer adjusted to suit correctly. Click on this RUclips link to educated oneself on flashing the ECU for a Kawasaki Vulcan S... ruclips.net/video/hX5mJqFytqI/видео.html
Anyone know what that restrictor plug is called? Mine is second hand and doesn't have it and I'd like to get one
America! Fuck yeah!!
My wife’s bike (were in the USA) that plug with the loop wire was not on our bike. She has a 2016, that plug was where The aftermarket gear indicator plugged into
Just heard that disconnecting the plug shouldn't be done for 2017 onwards as it's connected to the ECU or son along those lines
Watched a video from Kwaka John and he is adamant that the 4 pin plug doesn't derestrict the bike according to Kawasaki.
Alison, Alison, Alison. You are awesome. Just got back from taking it for a ride after making the changes. I was going to sell it 2022 for a bit more power, now I'm keeping it.
hi nice tips , any check engine light when its disconnected thank you
I have Kawasaki Vulcan 650s 2016 model, few days ago i tried to adjust the brake lever positioning and suddenly obne problem has been raised. after some mile drive my front brake start griping my front wheel and it jammed my wheel after few steps. My mechanic tried to clean the brake piston and greasing it but still this issue raising to me. whenever i experience this issue, i bleed the front caliper from nozzle to reduce the pressure so it made my wheel free to drive again. it happens every after 10 to 15 miles. nowadays, i am keeping 10nos ring key in my pocket for releasing the pressure of front brake. Please suggest what should i do to make it okay. Note ( There is no check light) I would be abliged if some one could guide me. Muhammad Usman Gul
Do you ave any issues with the bike reving really high on start up? Asking on behalf of a friend that has a valcan 650s, his reves really high and when you hold the throttle closed you can feel the computer fighting against you to close /open the butterfly to let more air/fuel in. Any recommendations on how to fix it
I have the 2019 and it doesn't seem possible anymore without removing the idle screw.
Great video and great tips, I will fix that on my Vulcan. What is for plug? And why to disconnect it?
Makes it faster basically
The screw prevents you from rotating the throttle too far and popping the cable out. If you remove it you should really drill and tap a new throttle position stop.
Took it for ride today, farken unbelievable the amount of power that has been unleashed. 180+
Just to let all you people know that are using this engine, after doing extensive research you don't need to remove the 4 pin jumper plug what so ever. Its a diagnostic port and has nothing to do with derestricting this engine. There is a video by Kwaka John showing a Vulcan S with the throttle stop bolt removed doing dyno runs with the jumper installed and removed, with exactly the same power output. Also confirmed by a Kawasaki dealership when asked how to derestrict the Vulcan S, they say to Leave the jumper alone.
The dyno only measures power at 100% throttle WOT and tbh I don't feel that's where the difference is felt. The difference I felt was at low throttle openings and revs. By all means, if you have a way to test that, I'm happy to look at your results. 😊
Yes, the dyno does measure the power at wide open throttle, and it showed the same 10-15kw power increase with the 4 pin connector both plugged into the diagnostic port and un-plugged. Go look at Kwaka Johns page where he talked about this years ago in great detail.
wow... such ninja moves. cant wait to try this on my VS 2018
Such an ez mod. Bloody legend. Hubby being scared to go full throttle tells me all I need to know. Thanks guys!!
Hey thanks for your videos. Any posts on a helmet lock install? Bought one and trying to figure out where it's supposed to go. lol
Thank you so much, just got a vulcan s and now I will have to try these things.
Happy to say in Brazil we don't have such thing. I've checked. But thanks for the insight!
Thank you for this video, haven't done this modification myself yet but can't wait for a nice day to try it out.
Cool!
Nice My Friend....
Just saw this, I was wondering what year model was this vulcan s as I just saw another video from someone else mentioning models from 2017 and up have been restricted via computer and needs to be reprogrammed from a dealer and so now you need to pay up apparently, which sucks 😂
This is an OG 2015 model 😉
@@AliS-tw4bu thanks and I got to know that the newer models, 2017 and up are still being restricted the same way :)
absolute legend
Great vid. Straight forward tutorial
I did it and now it backfires?
Great video and thanks. Just done it to my 2020 Vulcan S. Night and day difference. More torque, more power in the upper rev range, and doesnt cutout at 135kmh. No fault codes, no problems. Just works!
Did you do it the same way as in this video?
@@markbeck3489 yes, I did.
Alright I wasn’t too sure but since you said you have a 2020 as well. I’m grabbing my tool belt right now man, thanks!
Also you said you used to cutout at 135kmh. I thinks that’s about 83mph or so. I don’t really find that problem. Highways I feel I’ve got plenty more to grab even in final gear.
@@jkeen6622 go for it!!!! It was sooooo easy. 👍👍👍
Does removing that plug create any fault codes?
Hi mate, thank you for the video.. cant believe Kawasaki is so sneaky! Guess I know what ill be doing whilst it raining haha.. thanks again mate
Hey I'm curious. I saw someone comment that it's different for the 2020 model. Since you posted this a few months ago I presume yours is a 2020 model? did you have any problems?
