Engaging Students Using Storybook Style Lessons: Paul Sirstins at the OAE’s 6th Shaw-IAU Workshop
This is a talk given at the 6th Shaw-IAU Workshop on Astronomy for Education, organised by the IAU Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE, http//astro4edu.org).
Title: Engaging preK - 2nd Grade Students Using Storybook Style Lessons to "See What's Out There!"
For pre-K through 2nd grade students, distance and size are concepts that are often beyond their experience. Using something that all kids enjoy, having a book to share and read together, we introduce these concepts along with imagery and tactile objects to involve students in their own learning. Students explore the natural world around them, learning how the Sun gives light and heat to help things grow and live. This includes how the...

Dark matter is just regular mass that is dilated. Dilation/gamma is the phenomenon our high school teachers were talking about when they said "mass becomes infinite at the speed of light". This does not mean mass increases, it means mass becomes spread throughout spacetime relative to an outside observer. Time dilation is just one aspect of dilation, it's not just time that gets dilated. Even mass that exists at 75% light speed is partially dilated. It occurs wherever there is an astronomical quantity of mass, this includes the centers of high mass stars and the majority of galaxy centers. This has been accepted for a long time. Dilation is occurring in our own galactic center. This means that there is no valid XYZ coordinate we can attribute to it, you can't point your finger at something that is smeared through spacetime. In other words that mass is all around us. More precisely, everywhere you point is equally valid. It's the "missing mass" needed to explain galaxy rotation curves. It doesn't occur in galaxies with low mass centers because they do not have enough mass to achieve relativistic velocities. It has recently been confirmed in 6 ultra diffuse galaxies including NGC 1052-DF2 and DF4 to have normal rotation rates, in other words they have no dark matter/dilated mass.

We can not measure the CO2 in the air, what are the smug checks and CO2 sensors that made many Californians lose their cars to? Corrupt scientists made us believe that bad engines put out more CO2 and that it was kept as a secret from its owner until the next smog check to be revealed to DMV only with no warning to the owners on the dashboard. The truth is that a good engine with proper mixture and compression will break down every molecule of the fuel into CO2 and H2O, if it doesn't, it will put out dangerous gasses like CO. VW and korean automakers directly participated and benefited the most, they dumped their cars forcefully on Americans by leasing [and not selling] them with high interest, many became careless/jobless/homeless. Corrupt and criminal scientists, judges, lawyers and officials received billions of dollars [a portion of the looted money] via "Volkswagen emissions scandal" and they managed to legitimize and legalize their crimes against Americans. CO2 is not an toxic, there is higher concentration of CO2 in our lungs than the air, we pay extra to drink CO2 in soda, clouds are CO2/Dry Ice and we see as cloud is the Carbon atoms and not H2O.

the insecurity caused by gangsters of all kinds is an obstacle to the transmission of astronomical knowledge. This is a reality in several out of control areas. Your 2 projects are very interesting. I would like to know more about their implementation. In Haiti, we have the same security problem, hampering any innovation in the education of astronomy.
