Mel Peterson is awesome!! I got his autograph through the mail earlier this year and he answered all my questions I asked him. Great player!!
The coolest athlete I ever saw. Plus, he was damn great!
What a nice family
Lol. That missed handshake
Great player, wonderful human, solid teammate! Well-deserved honor.
I love watching Elmore Smith when he played for the Lakers I remember his strength was blocking shots I was in awe seeing him block all those shots I also remember remember Elmore couldn’t shoot free throws just like any other big man I always had my fingers crossed when he went to the free throw line 😂😂 I love Elmore Smith and always emulated him while playing against my neighborhood buddies blocking shots like he did back in the days
Congrats M L. Curious how Bird treated the aging Pistol in 1980 behind the scenes.
Fantastic player!😊☝
One of the great high school players of all time also. I spent a summer with him and David Wade before his senior year of high school. He was incredibly agile and athletic. Had a great handle also. Way ahead of his time
to be COMPLETELY honest i did do and/or probably will really LOVE willis reed

My father was one of his college coaches. He played with the great Bob Cousy, perhaps the best small guard of all time. But even after playing with Cousy and against other great players in the NBA, his eyes would light up when he talked about John Rinka. I remember a little bit of watching him play, but I was very young. When I was older and I would see a great shooting guard in a game or on tv I would ask my father, “does that guy shoot better than Rinka?” My father would laugh and shake his head and say, “no, Rinka would just take him out another five feet. No one has range like Rinka.” One time, he put on an old Kenyon game film and we watched him shoot. This was in the early 80’s before the three point line in college basketball and nobody shot outside of 17 feet. It was incredible to watch. That has probably changed in the last few years with Curry etc. but he was a great shooter way ahead of his time. If the three point line was around then who knows how many points he would have scored.
Love this.
I Kimberly A Sample say ...A Perfect Name for what's going on in the World ...as I Kimberly A Sample continue to say that I don't watch Sports,....but I have come across him at King of Prussia Mall here in Philadelphia were I worked at the time ....and he was opening his place of business....he was talking to the youngins about his Basketball Career and how to achieve different things in life ...like he did ,...I didn't know who he was .but when I got to work that morning,I peek in and listen to how he just Freely was having a real conversation with them ,as if they were in School.... letting them know if you reach you can achieve your dreams ...(World be Free) instead of not Achieving because of a So called Leaders of this Free World ..(PODCASTERS). TRUTH WARRIORS...EACH ONE SPEAK TO ONE Keep on Keeping it Real.
In the immortal words of legendary NY Knicks public address announcer John FX Condon "And at the guards #10 Walt Frazier"
As a #UDC Alum, I’m proud of Earl Jones accomplishments. I thank him for contributing to my youth excitement of seeing #UDC win back-to-back NCAA Division II Championships, a great accomplishment at any level.
Travis Grant was an All Time Great in College Basketball. How the hell did the big schools miss getting him in their school. Western Kentucky wins it all in 1971 with him and their other great players. Jim rose , Big Mac, Clarence Glover and Jerome Perry. Wow
Always like Butterbean Love.
Elmore Smith is a great one. Player and person. His Kentucky St. team could have played D1 or in the College Division at that time. UCLA (D1 ) and Phila Textile ( College Division ) won the respective NCAA Championships in 1970. I've always wonder how Kentucky St. with Travis Grant and Elmore Smith would have done against those 2 Champs in College Basketball that year ?
It was long overdue when this finally happened. Congratulations to a deserving man. I remember hearing about him.
My wifes uncle. His hands were huge. He was a giant among men. Wonderful gentleman. So humble for his achievements.
🌎 Be Free
Well deserved big Z
World was awesome.
Amen.
The Gentleman is simply Class.
1965 I am one of 2500 people packed into Rucker park in NYC for the, end of the summer, round robin tournament between summer league all star teams from Boston, Philly, Washington DC, and NYC. Leading the Philly team was Earl Monroe, and when entered the court everyone, in unison started a low chant of J-E-E-S-U-S , J-E-E-S-U-S and Earl did not disappoint dropping 43 points, using 360 degree spins from baseline to baseline. Philly needed every point because "Crazy" Joe Hamond, dropped 39. I think also on the NYC team was Herman "The Elevator Man" Knowles, and Jackie Jackson all Harlem playground legends. Games like that is what NYC BASKETBALL is all about.
Reverend Terrence Walker salutes the great Machine Gun Travis Grant. He was my highschool basketball coach at McNair Sr. Highschool in DeKalb County Georgia. He was a highly respected coach, mentor and Father figure to many of us players. He led our school to many state championship playoff games and tournaments. Thanks for teaching us how to play the game the right way Coach Grant. Congratulations on this high honor of being inducted into the college Hall of Fame. God bless you coach Grant and your wife and children, what an awesome family, I remember them well.
Well I just want to say That early the pearl is one of the ALL time greats when it's comes to show times because he was showing time before magic Johnson was call Show times because earl the Pearl played with so much passions and it's ALL most like he was magic Johnson Before there was a magic Johnson Thank you earlier the pearl because by just watching you play the game I learned how to do a lot of your classic move and your taught us not to never give up on a shot when someone is trying to block your shot because you always manage to get your shot off And that was amazing to watch you
Thanks Mel. The stories you brought to tiny Stephenson are incredible.
He once scored 69 points in a game, which is the 21st-highest single game output in NCAA history, his 41.0 points per game average in 1969-70 season as well as his 3,251 career points. RESPECT!
Believe me or not but that is my great grandfather hes my gpop son but my gpop sadly passed away
Way to go Clyde
ITS NOT SPELLED WYNONA, it's WINONA... WIN-ONA.

In the current NBA with its emphasis on the "3" World would be worth about $30M a year...
The AD at the University of Rio Grande, Jeff Lanham, was one of my students at Gallia Academy High School in 1974-1975...
So good to see and hear you John. Like Smity said after your last game. "You're going to be a trivia question". Ha! Your old Kenyon teammate Pete.
Grant scored over 4K CAREER POINTS!!!!!
BLACK JESUS
I feel sad watching this video much respect for ML Carr he love his alma matter and team mate so much
Salute to ML Carr
What powerful, honorable, respectful tribute! This is real history that should be taught to all those who dream about becoming professional athletes. All; but especially, our young black males. Thank you, Kevin for sharing this outstanding tribute for your dad, a true and honorable legend.
Mr Clarence Walker was a legend I will never forget him assisting me getting a 4 year ride to Indiana University (Bloomington). My his legacy live on.
Wonderful tribute! Congratulations on a career well lived.
Great tribute and well deserved honors, Larry. I enjoyed your comments.
Go Cougs
He was drafted by the LA LAKERS in the first round!!!!!
That’s my grandpa
@@tylercamille, I've been going to the NAIA Division I National Basketball Tournament in Kansas City for years. The 1972 tournament was the first I ever attended, as we just moved to Kansas City about 10 months beforehand. I was just in grade school. My father mentioned an article in the Kansas City Star about your grandfather scoring 60 points in the first round against Minot State for a tournament record. He asked me if I wanted to go with him to watch some of the second round. I got to see your grandfather and his team beat West Georgia in the second round and one more game on their way to winning their third consecutive national championship. To me, he remains one of the most memorable players over the years in the tournament--a great player, shooter, rebounder, scorer, and teammate. He seems like a great man too. It's performances like his and his team's that keep me going back to that tournament year after year.
