Are you holding a C shape chord / pattern? Because I just purchased a small balalaika and would like to learn how to play it; having a guitar knowledge / approach, I'm wondering if this gives me a slighty edge towards playing this exotic instrument?

I play classical guitar and can't clip my right-hand nails without affecting that. I am thinking of trying to learn to do the balalaika tremolo with my "pinky" finger. That will be a challenge since it's the weakest finger.

My grandfather (1900-1975) have played this piece on balalayka. I remember an old record done by my father on magnetband once in 1974. I'm trying to find it in our family archive
