Thanks for stopping by! I have been making models for this channel for a little over 2 years now. In the beginning, it was called Swords & Sandals. Over time, I begin to finally find my focus and main goal for this channel. Even though I had a goal from the very beginning, it never felt right until now.
This channel is dedicated to all things scaled model, but I do tend to focus on buildings and landscaping. I will work in various scales, but I do love 1:48 and 1:160, so expect a lot to be that, except for those specifically tabletop related. They will be to their unique scales.
These days, schools are starting their own D&D clubs and I really love that! It's something I wish was available for me then (which would have been just before AD&D was first released). Because these clubs don't rake in money like sports do, very little money goes to help them, if any money at all. I want to help change that!
With your help making this channel successful, I can help make this happen! Thanks!

Medieval 2-Story House with Balcony (splits into 5 pieces)
My version of a middle-class medieval home.
#mythreach #Ep39 #medieval #middle-class-peasant
It has taken me a while to get this model to where it is now. I still want to add a few things to it, but that's for another day.
This is the first time I have made anything that has various levels meant to be used in gameplay. And magnets to hold them all together! :)
I'm still putting together the templates for this model, as I didn't make any plans before I started building. But where they are finished, they will be available to all my Patreon contributors.
MATERIALS
- Balsa wood strips
- Bass wood strip
- 1/8 in. foam core
- 3/16 in. foam core

Making a Small Medieval Store with Upstairs Apartment
Просмотров 5582 года назад
A small medieval shop, made of cardboard and balsa. #mythreach #Ep38 #medieval #storefront It has been a while! Though things haven't exactly smoother out on my personal issues, it has opened up enough time to finally put together something new. I started this project with only a vague idea as to what I was going to build, but by the time I finished, I had to change it a few times along the way...

DIY Quidditch Dice Towers with FREE Templates

My take on Quidditch towers that make 2 dice towers in 1 diorama! #mythreach #Ep36 #harrypotter #quidditch #dicetower Though not to actual scale from the movies, I did my best to make them as close as possible, while still keeping them useful for tabletop play. I used XPS foam, foam board, wood, some papercraft, and a tiny bit of general crafting to make this project happen. Some of the items I...

Most everything school related will be in blog form through my website and many of my future builds for the channel will (hopefully) come from fan suggestion! I'm super excited about ...
Church Ruins Hideout Diorama - Tabletop - D&D
Просмотров 7663 года назад
The final stage of my playable tabletop diorama! #mythreach #Ep32 #dnd #chuch #ruin #tabletop The final phase of my tabletop diorama. Together, this build cost about $60 in minis and about $40 in material. This is the first time I have ever used static grass, and I'm not sure if I great at it, but...it looks like grass to me. This part took the least amount of time, overall, and clocked in arou...
Church Ruins & How To Build It From Foam (including moss & vines)

The next stage of my playable tabletop diorama! #mythreach #Ep31 #dnd #chuch #ruin The next phase of my tabletop piece. The ruined church adds shelter and a base of operations for my characters. My thought it that it was discovered one night, during a storm, and has since become a place to hang his hat. This was my first time dealing with vines and I think I have a more streamlined way of doing...

DIY a UV Resin Cure Box for UNDER 30 BUCKS & 30 minutes with FREE GUIDE
I gave you a thumbs up only because of what you are making. But your video is very boring because you are not talking to your audience, and you are playing the worst excuse for music that there is! You have got to engage with your audience, not put them in a coma! Try watching Blackmagic Craft and see how he does a video! You have really good crafting skills, so quit hiding them with boring videos! I normally go right on by videos with no or bad audience engagement!
Very nice job
am i the only one to mention the bomb ass beats going on in the background of this video????
It's cool! But no one will ever see the spiral staircase.
Anyone knows where i can find the instruccions in PDF format?
nice work!
Hi! In the minute 23:20, did you use glue? Or is it something else? Btw, nice tower!
The secret to stopping the warping, bowing, and flexing that can occur with dollar store foam core board (or even the more expensive kind) after painting is to LAMINATE two layers together with hot glue. This creates a strong two-ply construction that rivals an MDF kit in ins solid durability after adding a couple of players of a 50/50 Mod Podge/acrylic basecoat to strengthen and seal the XPS.
This is great. Thanks for your video. After doing some "tiling" with popsticks, I would never do it again. I find them just too bulky, as well as hard to cut.
Very good job. I love the snow effect. The spiral stairway is cool.
great build but the dude talks so slow, if you speed the video up to 2x it is still perfectly watchable
For hard packed earthen floors, brown or tan modeling clay works well and you can smooth it out with a touch of water and a pencel eraser or another small flat object. Fimo is good as it will dry and harden over time if it will be used for D&D games. Loving your content btw
I know I'm late to the party but... For doorknobs on O scale I use a round head finish nail and clip it with wire cutters. Dab some bronze paint on it ant viola! It makes the perfect size doorknob for old school doors. I know RDR2 didn't have them everywhere, but in some buildings they did. Just saying.
Awesome
I found this castle on Amazon
Thanks man mine was given to me with pieces missing and some was of it was assembled already. My dad said he’d give me 50 bucks I finished it and I did, so really the 50 bucks should go to u
Looks awesome
Very good job. I can see my adventurers stopping off here looking for shelter from a storm.👍
Impresionante!!♥️
Did you ever resort to using any glue? I've attempted to build and the cone-shaped tower roofs won't stay together or on the tower.
@mythreach - did you glue together the cardboard 3D puzzles?
this looks absolutely stunning. What is the product'sname you used for the moss?
Point of fact: if you look at the Mormon temple in Salt lake City that's the right scale for your bricks. Think of them as granite blocks instead of a brick that a mason would use on a house.
Does he have an Amazon affiliate link?
what's the name of the foam?
I’m going to start this project…thx
I just found the channel, and I can’t believe the wealth of information and visual crack it contains! Are you going to come back with more scratch built projects? If so, please do some more SciFi, here and there, if you could. Generic designs would be great. Space Western would be amazing too. Thanks so much!
The roof of the Great Tower is killing me (number38). It feels like there is 3 cm missing to get it to close at the right height
You said "Leave a comment if you want to see how to make some foliage" well anything you do, i am sure i will learn from and immensely enjoy 👍
I havent been able to post anything in quite a long while, but I would like to do some smaller videos to add to the channel. And I think creating foilage might be a great one to do!
Hey, man, this was an excellent watch. I found it very interesting and entertaining. Thank you very much for sharing.👍
Thanks for watching! Im glad you enjoyed it.
Great Job!!
Thanks!!
Such nice complicated work, almost a jeweler!
Thanks!
This is God level shit! Bravo :)
Lol. Appreciate that!
That’s great 😊
Thanks!!
Que material es el q usas???
Primary XPS foam and Bass wood.
19:59 What kind of product is this? Some kind of dough? By the way, great video and very beautiful dice tower!
ohhh.. I see!! Drywall...
I have one but without instructions 😢
The manufacturer has all of their instructions here. 4dpuzz.com/pages/customer-service
this painting tutorial was exactly what I was looking for thank you!
Im glad you found it helpful! Thanks for the kind words!
Fantastic! This will be my first time creating a model from scratch and this is perfect. Thank you for the templates!
Good luck with your project!!
You should have added some lights inside the castle too. It would have been complete. BTW I LOVE IT
I really wanted to, but by the time I reached this point, I was reasy to call it done. Lol. Luckily, my local library wanted to put it on display in their children section, so it was a good excuse to not take it any futther. I really want to make a new one, completely from scratch, and based on the videogame. I just love that design.
@@Mythreach in case you're going to do that, let us give a look at least to the final result. This one was really great and you inspired me to make something like yours 😊
@@Mythreachas someone who was thinking of attempting to add lights to this, did you have any ideas how you would go about doing that? Would you cut out all the windows?
I would have loved to add lights to my initial build of this puzzle too, hoping to build it again and figure out lights as well.
You should have cut your half circles in half because they don’t look climbable as is!
OMG, Tks, now i have a good idea how to start this proyect : )
Glad it helped. I never did many of the painting tutorials because it never seemed to interest enough people. Good luck with your project!
Thank you!! I was given this puzzle half assembled with no instructions and some missing pieces. I looked and looked for an online manual - no luck. Then I found your video! I now have an assembled Hogwarts (minus the few missing pieces). Thank you for taking time and filming this!!!
Thanks for watching! Just so you know, the manufacturer does have a missing pieces form, and even though its typically for missing from a new box, but they may still be able to help. Now, im hoping they come out with a new one based on Hogwarts Legacy. :)
If you use water over the silicone for the lake, it helps to flatten out easier. We use water in electrical work to make it look tidier.
Sometimes when you're on a roof and don't have water. If you spit on your finger it flattens out nicely
...and coming over from your 7+hr build thread which is a Godsend! AMAZING work on the base....fantastic!
Appreciate it!
Also...building question? Can I use super glue on this, should the need arise? There's a spot or two that might benefit but I wasn't sure if chemically it might cause a problem w/the particular board material used here? We have LOCTITE Ultra Gel, which I like because it's not runny and thin. Thanks in advance!
It should be fine. Super glue only melts foam, so since this puzzel is compressed board, I cant image why there would be an issue. Sometimes, superglue can run the print on an image, but I think this model is all laminated, but you can always just check a small section to be safe.
@@Mythreach Cheers! Thanks, and I can do a test on leftover sheet sections to see how that fares to be sure. Just didn't want any toxic meltdowns lol.
Oh yeah. Good call. I forgot about the left over boards. Those would be great tests.
Great video, and I'm building this now myself and using your video for guidance thru the rough parts. Glad I'm not the only one that struggles a bit with this build and you seem a bit more advanced than me. It's pretty challenging, and I think that '5+ hours' guideline on the box is a laughable lol. It's taken at least 5 - 6 hours just to do the first half of the kit, though I'm slow and careful and re-read instructions before building/committing. I've just finished the first stack of sheets (finished the whole 'left' side of Hogwarts including the bridges). HOPING the whole other side goes smoother? MUCH less round towers (and round roofs) to deal with. Looks a bit more 'modular'. Oh and that courtyard for the hospital?? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I very nearly have set the puzzle on fire trying to keep that section together, and what a war to connect all that up at once. I'm a little scared of the 'right' side because I know the quad is there...hoping it goes well. Honestly, while it looks very nice, I'll stick w/LEGOs and not 3d puzzles for future build projects. Just not a good match for me.
Lol. Trust me, had I not been recording, I would have screamed and cursed on more than one occasion. :) I would love to do more like these, but all the ones I like are well over $80 each. Ugh. One day. :)
@@Mythreach I finished it up today...I really took my time and kept referring to this video for the order of particular steps (especially like the library and the training building (odd shaped one). ALSO...because of your video I was SUPER careful and slow with the greenhouse area dome. No problems, thanks to you! :) I appreciate your sacrifice! Getting all 3 bridges to connect was a bit of a feat but I did it. I'd say my total build time was easily double this video, around 13-15 hours. My best advice is WATCH THIS WHOLE VIDEO before you start, and then keep up with it while you build. If you are unsure, stop building and reference this video. Be patient and take your time, and try to work on it for an hour or two then step away for awhile. The west side of the castle (Great Hall, clock tower, hospital etc) was considerably more challenging than the east side (library, DADA tower, etc). Once you power your way through the west side, the east side is really quite gratifying. I think part of that is that east side, you construct the whole foundation first, and then build more straight-forward buildings on it. On the west side, there's some funny angles and a major simultaneous assembly of the hospital wing courtyard (that's where I almost lost it lol). On the plus side, the Clock Tower and its courtyard ('back' of the castle) went together super-well. I will say...it's worth the wait though to completion. It looks marvelous when it's completed. I used some Loctite Super Glue Gel on just a few of the turrets and a couple of rock pieces that would not hold properly. It did the trick! Anyway...again, I don't plan on another 3d/4d puzzle project in the future (I'll stick w/LEGO). But the scale of this version of Hogwarts (in terms of size) and it's detail is outstanding. Enjoy your build and by all means let this video be your supplementary assembly guide. My issue with the instructions here are there are no clear steps in each assembly section for this part, THEN this part, THEN this part...especially when there's five or six parts on a single step (the colors don't make any sense to me). Mythreach, thank you so much again. Your efforts in this great video really enhanced my own build of this project and this video is indispensable. Cheers sir!
what material do you use for the base body? The church is fantastic
The walls are just basic foamboard. Gluing the foam bricks to it and then applying mortar prevented it from warping.
I have several other puzzles in the Harry Potter series but I missed the Castle
I've done most of the Harry Potter puzzels and by far, Hogwarts was my favorite. Every once in a while, Costco has then losted again. And its my understanding the manufacturer still has the license, so they will continue to bring it back. They even have a smaller one of the same build. Its more desktop friendly, I guess. Im hoping for one based off Hogwarts Legacy. And if they dont make it....I just might have to. :)
