Circuit of the Americas 2012 - Helipad Operations
Просмотров 898 лет назад
This was the year of the first Formula 1 race held in Austin Texas at the new Circuit of the Americas track. They had over 700 operations (pickup & drop off) that day. They have never had this much air traffic since that first race.

How’s the bass fishing there?
Wow, thank you - this video was just in time for me. I'm doing all the work on my 40 square house and I have supplier quotes for Tamko (at approx $4000 delivered for 120 bundles) and same qty GAF Timberline for about 5% more. GAF it is, because I don't want to see the top of my house for at least the next 15 years.
3 tabs in 2017... Hell yes. Shit will last some years. 🤣🤣🤣
I'm glad you are selling the house. Imagine if you stay in the house, after hearing Tamcrap's clown show, why on earth would you chance putting the same garbage back on it. After hearing all that, I would personally bite the bullet and remove everything and put on a good quality Owens Corning. I personally use O.C. I have had neighbors have pieces of shingles after a big wind event end up on their yard. My O.C. always stayed on. I know it would cost but the roof is serious business. Good luck.
My Tamko Heritage roof only lasted 15 years and I am lucky it lasted that long.
you got jacked im a roofer they are all the same does not care who you install its all BS lifetime 25 year 30 year no company will pay then you as a installer look like a jerk so you can get a different shingle hope you dont have a problem they are one in the same fine print so small only they knows what it says .feel your pain.
Every shingle has a prorated warranty. You would get the same treatment from every roofing manufacturer including Owens Corning. 3-tabs are the cheapest shingles with the worst warranty. The warranty lasts 25 years. The full coverage period is 5. Every single roofing manufacturer does the same thing.
They have blend numbers keeps the pattern right aka lot numbers
Blistered
Tamko Three tab shingles are junk . I have seen the Certainteed XT 25 shingles last 25 to 30 years .
Good video 💪
I really most of these shingle manufacturers GAF, OC, Certainteed, atlas are all in competition with each other in I believe the products are very similar, Tamco is the only one that seems to be inferior and not staying current in the competition with other manufacturers
Manufacturers are second only to insurance companies in screwing homeowners but they both know local installers who make pennies in comparison take the brunt.
My Tamko shingles look worse, most of them look very good but on at least 30% all the granules fell off.
As a roofer myself you explained that well to not have alot of pryor knowledge.
Most shingle manufactorers prorate starting between 10-15 years
Malarkey!
Thank you for this video. I was considering going with a Tamko shingle for my roof, in spite of their reputation. Now I will definitely go with something else.
Very fair and objective assessment. Sorry this happened to you.
Thanks for that. I was told by a roofer that this tamco brand would cost me $1,500 less. So I said no based on this video and other reviews online plus a lawsuit back in 2014 for the same issue. So they clearly know about their manufacturing “defect”
They definitely know they could have fixed the problem but they chose not to. I have a roofer at my house right now suggesting tamko shingles absolutely not. So now they have to look at how much money they loss versus correct customer service
After Tamko shingle installation, the next rain washed so many granules off that the drainage pipes were clogged, water overflowed and seeped into basement. Had to dig up the Corrugated Drain Pipe to clear it. Lots of issues with installers too leading me to think shit installers use shit shingles.
The roof is not vented enough fyi
@Josh Simon Thank you so much for making this video! I'm about to have Tamko Heritage shingles installed on my roof this monday the 17th..and after watching your video and then googling "tamko shingle problem" and finding out they have a class action lawsuit against them I'm calling my roofer this Sunday afternoon to cancel. But can you please advice me what I should replace Tamko with? They also install GAF so is that a good brand? I do want architectural shingles so if you can please let me know what brand you recommend I would really appreciate it. I know they aren't going to be happy but I don't need bad shingles since I'm planning on selling my home in about 5 years. Thanks for the help!
The roofers that I used to replace the defective Tamko roof recommend Owen Corning, that's what's on our current house and so far so good.
@@joshsimon9977 Thanks for the recommendation. My roof is being replaced by my homeowners insurance (after fighting them like hell to do so) due to hurricane damage and they will only replace it with a similarly priced shingle. Hopefully Owen Corning falls into that price range..otherwise I will be stuck with Tamko. But it seems like no matter what brand you choose..they have had problems in the past. I googled "owen corning shingle problem"..just like I did with Tamko and GAF..and sure enough they too have had BBB complaints and a class action lawsuit. So..damned if you do and damned if you don't. I don't remember my parents having shingle issues so quality must have gone down across the board for those of us who can't afford the super premium shingles at outrageous prices. Thanks again and take care.
@@Nightbird. Which shingles did you go with? I was looking at the Tamko Heritage architectural shingles as well.
Well don, not using Tamco o the quote I was just given for reroofing three triplexs
looks like the VXR is dead even on top speed with the GTR. Is that a GTR215 or GTR230?
IIRC he was on a GTR 215. He wasn't running it in the sport mode much because he was still breaking it in at first but the two skis were pretty comparable.
@@CajunJosh If you watch on my videos I have a 2016 VXR and raced a seadoo GTR 230x and almost beat him. My ski runs 67mph he barely got away from me. 👍 The yamaha VXR is a beast.
Yikes. We're getting estimates right now. Three companies so far use GAF but one recommended Tamko.
Sorry you got shafted, but thank-you for helping us avoid Tamko. Most of the roofers we contacted quoted Owen Corning, but we had one for Tamko and decided to do some more research. We had read about some defective batches, but this was the first we got to see it. I also didn't realize their 25 year shingles don't actually have 25 year warranties! Screw that! We'll be checking the fine print now.
Really glad this video helped you. It wasn't something that would have ever been on my radar had it not been for the home inspection.
I'm sure the new home owners appreciated you dealing with Tamko's defective materials and all the headaches & stress that went with it! Just a little more good karma in the bank for you.
@@joshsimon9977what was the final outcome? Did you have to accept more tamco shingles to get anything from them or did you use a different product?
@@davidshumway9639 We had to pay $4000 out of pocket for the new roof with Tamco providing a material voucher for about $600 worth of materials.
All 3 tabs are trash anyway in 2013 no builder should of even still been installing them
I used Owens Corning Supreme 3-tab in South Louisiana in 2007. Shingles still looked great in 2021. Now I just went through Hurricane Ida with 100 mph winds that lasted several hours. No leaks. Lost only a few tabs. I'm going to replace next time with upgraded architectural shingles. But not all 3-tabs are trash. The OC Supremes have been great for me.
Maybe they used old ones from previous job? Did you see package before? Pretty crazy... sorry that happened to ya...they suck
The house was built in 2013 and I wasn't around to see the construction process. There were about 300/400 houses built in that neighborhood over the course of 3 years so it's possible that they might have used shingles from a different job site but at the volume they were building the batch of shingles wouldn't have been significantly older than any of the others.
Thanks man. About to have my roof replaced and the roofer initially handed me a Tamko brochure. I will be telling him we need a different brand. I’ve heard that Tamko is builder grade - meaning it’s as cheap as it gets.
Our neighborhood consisted of roughly 690 homes built by DR Horton and CenTex. I believe DR Horton excursively used Tamko. You would think with Tamko's volume they could afford and would want to stand behind their products. The roofing company we ended up going with to replace the roof said Tamko has different lines of shingles with different qualities and warranties but recommended Owens Corning.
Thanks, the bid with the Tamko shingles just got tossed.
Every shingle manufacturer has had the same issue at one point in time just do some research they all produce millions of bundles a year so of course bot every bundle will be perfect
We had to replace our roof after 3 years. On a 30 year shingle. Same reason. Crap product and wasn't covered by warranty.
Man I feel for ya Tyler. I get that any company can have problems but Tamko sure doesn't stand behind their products. It's shameful that they wouldn't warranty a three year roof.
Good job bud call out these Companies that don’t stand behind their product. A customer deserve transparency!
Doesn’t surprise me that they treat their customers like they treat their employees. Sorry to hear that.
Sorry to hear they are that type of company. Sure hope they improve. We've got Owens Corning now.
I replace ur whole roof 2500
My roofer is recommending Tamko. I’ll look for another manufacturer .
I had a local roofer come out and go on and on about how they were the number one roofing company in Bell County. They said they excursively used Tamko shingles and rarely if ever saw these sort of problems. I said great but here we are so where do we go from here. They said we will reach out to Tamko as one of their largest installers in the area and see if we can get results and crickets. The company definitely doesn't stand behind their products.
9 out of 10 building materials are pro rated those would be considered a builders choice type of shingle. Not a good place to skimp but once again a common practice on new builds
If this wasnt nine months ago I'd volunteer my licensed services to help a front liner like yourself out hope you got everything situated if not maybe I could still help
I appreciate it. I mow yards on the side and one of my customers is a roofer. His company ended up coming in and using the Tamko voucher plus about $4,600 from us and had the roof replaced in two days.
