A30 Stenalees Link Road February Update 2024
Hope you keep filming long after it’s completed & all grown over. Massive project, hope it’s all worthwhile! Brilliant drone photography by the way ! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much for your lovely comments, i will probably do the odd video of the new link road after it’s all been done like you say and maybe do a before and after of it too, all takes time and ideally the weather has to be good too, not like at the moment with another storm upon us :)
Thanks Geoff, same to you later, hopefully it’ll be open before next Christmas
Lots of work completed, and lots still to do. Let's hope the weather allows work to be finished soon. Happy New Year to you and yours. Geoff
Hi Fred (Mark). Just wondering if you are OK as videos are a bit short, lol! Anywa, just wanted to wish you and yours a Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year. Keep safe and thanks for the videos throughout the year. Geoff
Happy Christmas to you too and family Geoff, yes videos have slowed up a bit, partly down to the weather lately strong winds, poor visibility, drizzle, but i am working on a couple of projects at the moment, which are quite time intensive sorting out photos, and video and then co ordinating it all into a video.
Thanks for the update. I was wondering how much has happened
Whats your real name.??
Have to drive through this every day going to work will be so glad when it's finished
Good work 👍
Can someone tell me, Is this the way a site foreman would survey the site each day? Rather than getting in a car and driving about the site. Need an update on some part of the site. send up the drone,
Nice viewing the new road works, one day you might catch a glimpse of somebody doing something.
Fred been a member of the Penwithick club for a few years now we need to have a pint soon!
Place is thanet that I drove on, has 30 signs all along the road but 20 painted on the actual road, I think that is very wrong. They have the money to drive and paint this crap but run out before taking all of the previous speed signs down, its ridiculous, the signs actually should take priority because the 20 on the road is not always visable
Cornwall Council spent 4 million pounds on this useless crap. Can't do more than 10mph on my road but they still put up 20 signs.
The truly depressing aspect is that someone voted for these policies, especially Wales.
Hi Fred. Might be an idea to send a copy of this, or make Cornwall Council Highways aware of the issues. I doubt you would get any response from them! Geoff
Hi Geoff, last time i did a video of the chaos the roadworks team were causing in the village and it took Cormac about 8 months to comment lol
@@fredflintstone1024 A couple of years ago we had an artic lorry, loaded with concrete railway sleepers (probably for Bodmin rly, ) turn down a very narrow, twisty lane nearby. He did just get through, but took out two stone hedges on the corners. I saw a Cormac person in a van who was trying to find where the lorry had gone (no chance!). 'Well put a restriction sign up at the start of the lane, " he said. Never happened and large HGV's still go down thereripping out the hedgerown. Oh well.
There is a difference between a 20 mph zone and a 20 mph. My understanding is that in the 'zone' the street furniture will look like it's 20 mph, so traffic calming, maybe some shared spaces etc. So there is no need for repeater signs. In a 20 mph limit, repeaters are required every 200 yards.
In Roche at the top end speed limit drops from 30 down to 20 backup to 30. Where the kids play at the park and where do kids catch their bus to school and where the kids cross the road go to school just around the corner where is 20 mile an hour outside the school surely the speed limit from the top end down to the graveyard should be 30 from the graveyard write down through the village should be 20 miles an hour I would have thought that would make sense 🤔
These are bollocks. I thought the aim of the game was to pay attention to the road not a stupid patronising box robot
Please leave the text explanation on a little longer. That would give me chance to digest and understand them. Thanks.😊😊
It’s a challenge to get all the information in the short timeframe of what you are looking at on screen, i’m afraid otherwise the video would be much longer, i do try and give the longer captions more time on screen and the shorter ones a shorter time on screen to fair to all that are trying to digest it all, but you have the option of pausing the video of course :)
@@fredflintstone1024 Thanks for taking the time. I do enjoy your videos.😀😀
I try to make each one interesting and informative, going to new places of interest as well, many thanks for your kind comments though :)
What country is this in?
South West of England, Mid Cornwall to be exact
Interesting to see it from the air, I worked on the previous road works around Stenalees Sky Tip in 2014, that was before the drone cameras were around.
Thanks for the update and the veiw of the adit by the old blockworks I couldn't quite see it whilst driving past
Thanks for the update. It's nice to see it really taking shape now
We went here when I was a kid to buy slate for our fireplace
I've had this operating in my van for a week, and here's my thoughts: How is this thing even legal??? This thing is ridiculous and frankly, dangerous. It's impossible to safely accelerate to a sensible speed when crossing or joining a dual carriageway, entering a roundabout, or accelerating on a motorway slip road, without hitting the orange or red lights and getting a warning. It is also VERY distracting. Even increasing my vans speed by 1mph with the cruise control, with ECO mode switched on, on a flat road, will bring on 2 or 3 green lights. Increase by 5mph and I'm hitting the red! I've read the developer replies on Google play store, and it seems they've made 100% unachievable, which is ludicrous. I'm not convinced at all that this device is getting its data from the vehicle. The website says: "Lightfoot can get a true picture of how the vehicle is being operated, taking into account factors such as gear selection, revs, engine load, payload, whether the vehicle is going uphill or downhill, and even whether it’s towing." I don't believe this one bit. If I set my cruise control to 50mph, it doesn't matter if I put the van in 3rd 4th 5th or 6th gear, the lights do not change, so it is certainly NOT monitoring engine revs or fuel efficiency, and it doesn't tell me to change gear. If I put the van in neutral downhill, the vans speed will increase - because of gravity. But the device will show 2 or three green lights, yet I'm not accelerating! Accelerating to 60-70mph on an uphill or downhill motorway slip road is nigh on impossible without triggering the red light. - It DOES NOT take into account whether the vehicle is going uphill or downhill. I believe the only thing that is making this work is GPS - and that is the only way it is monitoring speed & acceleration. It is NOT getting data based on how the engine is running at all. Therefore, it is massively inaccurate.
Rain Forrest swamp huts…that’s more like it!!
Fantastic mate, love these wind farms! Great smooth flying and information, I covered one of these on my channel and got pretty close to them haha! Thanks for sharing this , I’ve liked and subscribed to you 👌👍
Thanks for your comments, yes i love a good wind farm too, i think they are so calming to watch, much better than the two bladed versions i saw on the road past Hallworthy towards Launceston, they were all stopped and all in the horizontal position blade wise, looked almost like aircraft in mid flight, very weird.
I'm not from England nor have I ever been to that area but for some reason I'm really interested in the a30 and the duelling of it and all the projects going on around it
Hi Fred. Looking much better nowadays. But will it be rained off soon? Haha. Hope your Summer has been good. Geoff.
Hi Geoff, yes it’s all coming together slowly but surely, all be good in the end if we can manage to get on the new road as it’s going to be very busy
"The crac was good at Cricklewood, the foreman was a Winker" (1982). I here they are a lot better now.
We used to play in there as kids. We’d often steal the porn mags from of the machines cabs. Happy days !
I know Plymouth quite well, having thought of moving to Cornwall, etc. It's astonishing how we, the Englash, have been mutilated and abused by the so-called Élites (the 2%) and their Bullies (the 10%). Just look at how all that work of previous generations has been wountenly destroyed. As just one example: the 'conversion' of the Municipal Technical and Scientific School into 'Luxury' flats.
Hi ,thanks for this video ,it looks fascinating ,amazing to see it from an Ariel view, we are travelling down in September to Whitemoor , any advice on a route from the A30 would be most appreciated, loved watching this ,this will have been a difficult time for locals , hopefully the disruption will be worth it to keep heavy traffic out of the small villages as they pass through ,many thanks 😊
She’s deep and dangerous, worked there for 12 years ,I can still see the faces of the men in the canteen, happy days ,leave her and her ghosts in peace.
Great video thanks, I remember all those when they were still in use.
As a child on Sunday mornings we went down to the station to watch Billy smarts circus elephants unloaded and they were walked to Central Park that was about67 years ago I am 75years old
But has opened this year for now in Cornwall on A30
really interesting to it all from this perspective. I drive to Victoria every day from Luxulyan as my commute to work. Roche is set to become like Radiator Springs. I'm curious how this will finally join the A30 though
I have fond memories playing down there 4550 years ago I think that British heritage or Plymouth go clean it out that could be transformed into a beautiful place to go.
Utter crap they are
Great stuff, thanks for sharing this.
Why did it close its doors as this was popular
We went to return but found it had closed its doors for good a great attraction long gone
We went there on our honeymoon 2001 loved it
Great Treverbyn if I'm not mistaken
Driving up his backside and you call him s#@T for brains.. you've got a nerve...🤡
That stack needs some conservation work doing on it -as its so unique it would be a shame to lose it forever..
A fantastic video and shocking to see how much more has gone in just over a decade. The big slab by the house you said could collapse has done so. When you see the old photos the beach came around from North Hallsands (not Beesands as labled) in one continous curve in front of the Village of Hallsands. For a 2011 Drone it is so much better than the junk i bought recent years from Ideal world and Temu. Far better picture quality range and duration. Thanks for uploading.
🌟 @Fred #legend
🌟 dude, the epic size of it, it's off the scale. So this is in Blackpool in Lancashire?
Nah mate it’s an area of St Austell and the pit is known as Blackpool China Clay Pit, but it’s in Cornwall :)
🌟 Banging footage, this is an excellent presentation. I'm an amateur landscape photographer. Do you know how much access there is to the quarries surrounding Lee Moor? Is there any right of way? Are there any abandoned quarries in the area? Thanks, and well done #datswatsup
Thanks :) Glad you enjoyed it, it’s all privately owned land, there might be a public footpath that goes around or near to it, you’d have to consult a map of the immediate area, as i’m not from that county so not sure.
Another scar across the countryside, which will lead to more people moving and living in the county!
