Saw and loved Wet Wille at the "Under Ground " in Raliegh North Carolina, such great a show in that setting. Was such a great venue, saw many greats there, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience those shows and that period of time.

Went there with my Mom, Dad and 4 siblings. We would get "free entry" if all the students got their dental certificates before school started. This would have been between 1952 and 1960. Even rode the coaster for the last time before it was blown up in one of the Smoke & The Bandit movies.

To be fair the church never closed down brother Pike’s kids stole the Church out from under the congregation and the congregation was forced to move. Now they hold church services just a few miles east of little Bethlehem. David Paul bought the property from his own siblings.

Great video! I saw the B-52s and the Brains swap sets at the Agora Ballroom on Peachtree St. in the fall of 1978 - the B-52s played the same set twice as they only had one set! This brought back a lot of great memories and I'm really looking forward to Part Two!

Thanx muchly for sharing! I've been loving this song since I first heard it on the radio in 1974. I, of course, immediately drove to Record Bar, and bought the 45 and album. These were followed in later years by cassette, 8track, and cd versions of the same. As well as, other Wet Willie albums and singles. Unfortunately, I was never able to see them in live concert. Such a fabulous song! It's helped me through good times and bad throughout the years. It helped me get through chemo at 70+. I'm currently 3+ years in remission from AML. I'm happy to report that I'm beating the odds. Thank you so very very much, Wet Willie, for the magic, music, and memories! (edit for typo)

So glad to see these guys finally get a little recognition, it's long overdue. I typed in "Wet Willie Documentary" not really expecting to find anything which is shameful IMHO. Talk about underrated. Being that they are from my hometown I've had the pleasure of seeing them many times and they were an incredible live band. Tho Jimmy once coined their style as "Rock-n-Soul" I would argue they are the epitome of "Southern Rock" just based on their catalog of songs. I mean come on, with songs like "Dixie Rock" "Country Side of Life" "Leona" "Grits Ain't Groceries" "Shout Bamalama" and on and on. I challenge anyone to argue with that. One of the tightest and most talented bands ever... and true southern gentleman. P.S. RVZ got the idea for the Honkettes from seeing the Williettes and how much they added to the sound of Wet Willie... not to mention the sight of them being on the stage. Thanks for posting this. My best friend, sister and another friend and me went to the Flea market there on a regular basis! We went into every bldg. looked at every antique there among all the other wonderful things there. Miss that, miss my friend more!! 😅

So many fond memories of going to the fair with my Mom and sister as a child. Thanks for preserving the grounds and buildings.

Got to know Jimmy a little when he joined the Nighthawks with my friend Jimmy Nalls (R.I.P.) who played guitar (he was a founding member along with Chuck of Sea Level). ..... what a great time in the ninety's. ...glad Jimmy, Chuck are still going strong .....a song for the ages .....

awesome video! The Halls and Fosters are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Jimmy and his family are incredible musicians as are the bands they have played with over the years. I'll never forget them at The Warehouse.

Saw Wet Willie a dozen times or more when I was writing record and concert reviews for the Syracuse New Times. Hung out with the band several times and they were the warmest, kindest, most down-to-earth musicians I ever met…

Saw Wet Willie in Savannah, Georgia opening for the Doobie Brothers in early December 1974.

First saw Wet Willie with Allman brothers at the Grand Opening of the NOLA Super Dome and they rocked that big old building.

Something of a tangent but At 4:17 - you can see that GA inspection sticker in the front left windshield. Those things were a croc of you know what - you could give a gas station attendant $15 and they would give you one. Of course once they started doing emissions testing, those went away.
