Kitty O'Donoghue (née Carrig) is a singer songwriter, originally from Creeves, Co. Limerick.
One of sixteen children, I left my lovely Limerick, married Con and settled in Co. Clare. I have seven children, 29 grandchildren and an ever growing number of great grandchildren, all of whom I love dearly.
I have written many songs about my childhood growing up, people I have met, some that I have never met and places that I have travelled.
I hope you enjoy, and if you do, please subscribe to my channel.

Brown Bread by Kitty O'Donoghue (née Carrig)

Brown Bread is a song I wrote telling the story of our time growing up in the 50's.
There were sixteen in my family - nine boys and seven girls.
I have great memories of Mama and Dada. Dada putting two tables together to keep us fed, boiling up a big pot of spuds and turnip; Mama making 7 loaves of bread, a mix of brown bread and flat bread.
This song tells the story of our youth, the mischief we got up to, the friends we had and much more.
I hope you enjoy.

A song about Spancil Hill in Co. Clare. I've never been there myself, but after meeting this little lady one day I had to write a song. She fell in love with a dealer, but he never looked her way. She was going to go back again the following year in the hope he might pay her some attention then.

A song I wrote while on a weekend away in Kilkee. It was a beautiful March night and I went out to my veranda in the hotel room and called my husband to tell him look at the lovely view. He told me "Close the f'in window and get into the bed I'm frozen!". I told him there's a song in this, and here we have it.

A song I wrote about my son back in the 80s when he came in at 4am in the morning to tell me he was going to England. I gave him a wallop and told him he was going nowhere... and then I got out of the bed and wrote this song.

I had one Aunt. Mama had no sisters and Dada had one sister, Auntie Mary. Like many more, she moved to America but she got sick over there, and died. I had never met her but Dada used to always talk about her. In the 00's I visited America and I wrote this song about her while there. I never got to visit her grave but I wrote this song in her honour.
