I enjoyed making this bar. Have any of you ever used cinnamon in the soap making process?
How did the smell turn out? ACV is pretty strong
@@scrubgirl1033 I did not smell any ACV in the soap. I only used 6 of my required 11 ounces of liquid for ACV and I added a fragrance oil called cactus flower from brambleberry so that’s what it smells like.
I did this but it still stayed soft in the center even after 2 weeks
The water lye solution may be off. I used the hot process hero to fix my soap after I failed to properly mix my fragrance oil with the soap batter. What recipe did you use

@blackhands301 oh my i honestly can't remember but I know it had vegetable shortening in it. I am new and I was just trying it out. I will try to rebatch it one more time before I toss it. No actually I used that makesy oil blend
@@momabthatsme7888 oh okay. I have never used vegetable oil but I have been wanting to try the Makesy blend. I’ll have to try them both and do a video. Thanks for the idea.

Yes I did. I used it for 6 of my 11 ounce liquid. It was fine to work with.

I used baby oil to make my soap with other oils lye it did not get hard it was soft like butter

@@scrubgirl1033 yes. Some soap fragrances will change the soap color.

I see how I can add the color. Am I able to add my actual pieces of basil/herbs within the soap?
@@niesydunn you can but it may turn the soap brown/ discolor or cause mold right around the area you add it too. It’s better to add a little bit to the top and make sure it is very dry.

Hi!! I started following you from Aren's class. I am trying to understand how I can add my lemon basil into soap. It looks like I need to infuse an oil. Absolutely love how affordable and detailed your instructions are. I'll be watching!
@@niesydunn hello and thank you. I just subscribed to your channel too. For the lemon basil it would be best to infuse it. I have made soap with basil tea by brewing the leaves and letting the brewed tea cool before adding it to soap. It has a nice subtle scent. But you can infuse in a light oil such as olive oil. You would remove basil leaves from stem. Place oil in a jar that can hold the amount of oil you would be putting in the soap. I recommend putting 1 ounce more due to the fact that the leaves will will retain some of the oil. Cover the jar and store on a sunny windowsill for 1-2 days. Use a funnel to strain oil and a spoon to smash last bits of oil out of leaves. Throw away basil leaves. I would use 1 cup of basil per pound of oil. So if you have 16 ounces of oil I would use 1 cup of lemon basil. You can scent it with lemongrass essential oil. Actually I think I may add that to my to do list. Let me know how it turns out

Made my first batch this week organized a space I am calling my workshop the essential oil riced made a few small mistakes batter was too thick but for first try I am excited smells nice also😊
@@A.l.l16 I’m so happy to hear that. What brand did you use for essential oil and which essential oil did you use? With a thick batter it will go through saponification faster so that’s fine. @blackhands301 as a single mom trying and beginner soap maker finically it's hard but made my first batch and the essential oil rosehip messed it up , trying not to feel discouraged 🇹🇹 🇹🇹 😅 🙃 thanks for the videos
Genuine question, what's the use of the shrink wrap? Does it help releasing the stamp from the soap?
@@gggggg-hs2tk the letters in the stamp are very small and when I stamp the soap tiny pieces of soap get stuck in the stamp. It’s hard to clean so the Saran Wrap keeps the stamp clean.
