Barnhart’s Mason City, Iowa branch uses a Liebherr LR 11000 heavy lift crane and 300-kip tip stick to lift and install a 251,000-pound rotary conditioner at an agricultural processing facility. The old Schnabel cars are cool too. We got to see a number of those at Vogtle 3&4 in Georgia. Yeah, heavy haul is always fun, unless your trailer is cutting deeper and deeper as each axle line goes by....and you find out from the customer that they chose not to do your requested grade improvements.
Love this dude, don't ask him a question if you don't want to know the truth or at least what he thinks because he's not one that's going to tell you what you want to hear

Good to have hands-on experience. I'd say most companies fail at providing their engineers with time in the field and at the shop. Rigging engineers need both to be able to design safe and efficient lift equipment and lift plans.

How do you calculate the load that the tailing crane has?
You must know where the center of gravity is located relative to head and tailing lugs. Typically, worst case for a tailing crane is when the lifted vessel is horizontal, and you’d calculate what the tail load is by dividing the distance from head lug to center of gravity over the entire distance from head lug to tail lug. That would be the percentage of the vessel weight on the tailing crane.
