PREVIEW: Tessa Campbell Fraser 'Whales - A Deeper Dialogue'
A virtual tour of the gallery preview evening for the art exhibition 'Whales - A Deeper Dialogue' by sculptor and advocate for the awareness of climate change, Tessa Campbell Fraser at Messums West in October 2024.
Artist Tessa Campbell Fraser deliberately seeks out and employs sustainable, natural, recycled or repurposed materials. In this exhibition she is using recycled ghost netting, silk chiffon, latex, and synthetic (recycled) paper, made with almost no water. Using haptic techniques with these materials, she creates fluid, protean pieces in two-and three-dimensional forms to explain the dialogue between herself and nature.

MAKING INTRODUCTIONS: Laurence Edwards (Part 1)

Laurence Edwards’ practice has long been preoccupied by the entwining of man, nature and time. One of the few sculptors who casts his own work, he is fascinated by human anatomy and the metamorphosis of form and matter that governs the lost-wax process. The driving force behind his work is bronze, an alloy that physically and metaphorically illustrates entropy, the natural tendency of any syste...

I saw the whales in Winchester Cathedral this morning. It was a fabulously immersive experience and I loved the whale sounds echoing throughout the cathedral. Closing my eyes, I could imagine being underwater with them. Loved it.

Came across this site this morning which looked very interesting and very promising. I am now on the fourth video and so far have only seen people who can't speak properly or display really bad artwork - or both. I will continue to investigate when I have more time but for now all I can do is quote Morcambe and wise's catch phrase. What do you think of it so far - Rubbish.

Yes - stick with - Truthfully the Paint symposium was our first and a learning curve for the tech team. But things really do get better! across the symposiums. Oceans followed by Landscape is the trajecyory. THe content is good though - Joana is amazing if you get to here. and thank you for sticking in!

What a marvellous man. Humble, intelligent and clearly unusually talented. I’ve always marvelled at the crushed, wrinkled surfaces of his modern objects yet stupidly never made the connection with the ancient world and it’s ethereal carved drapery and veils. We’re very fortunate to have artists like him carry on these traditions and further evolve them. If in 100 years, as he hopes, these modern objects are no longer in use, I hope too that his work will continue to be displayed and enjoyed to fuel the imaginations and inspire our future generations. Thank you Mr Waugh.
