    Hey CM's! I was just wondering where you got your interior dash knobs and caps from? I'd love to get some for my beetle as well! I think you also had a push button glove box door? Also, I was just curious if when you replace the dash knobs if there's anything you have to modify to get them to work properly, I did order a push button style wiper knob at one point, but I don't think it's either sitting right, or functioning properly. When you turn the knobs it just seems like they're going to screw back out. Do I have to change some kind of Escutcheon pieces too? I did the custom button for the brake light switch, (doesn't function as it's just for looks, but it looks cool)!

    • @CMSgarage96
      @CMSgarage96 Месяц назад

      @@FallyFire I ordered my knobs from JBugs.com. For the glove box I ordered the early push button 1967 and earlier button. You’ll have to order a glove box push button pull tab from eBay to block off the larger hole on your late model car. My button is just for show because the early button doesn’t latch to the late dash. I made my glove box door magnetic with small rare earth magnets. I never got my wipers working, I think my wiper motor was bad. I know what you mean about the wiper switch Unscrewing, maybe some blue thread locker would help. Good luck with it!

    Sorry for all the question, trying to get one of these running. I purchased a new coil, points and condenser and still no spark. For the spark wire you have is that anything specific or can you use a wire from a car spark plug set?

    • @CMSgarage96
      @CMSgarage96 2 месяца назад

      @@russwilson2182 it could be a few things. Most likely either the gap between the flywheel and the coil is too far apart. Try adjusting that. Also make sure the points are gaped properly. You could also accidentally be grounding out the coil somewhere also, by a wire touching somewhere it’s is not suppose to. Yes a car wire should be fine, make sure that spark plug wire is actually making contact with the pin in the bottom of the coil. If you have a multimeter, check your continuity.

    • @russwilson2182
      @russwilson2182 2 месяца назад

      @@CMSgarage96 appreciate the feedback. For gaping the points I turned the shaft until the point was all the way open then used a .020 gap gage and set the point. Is that the correct process for those? What surprised me on the coil is one side is stationary and so you adjust the one side.

    • @CMSgarage96
      @CMSgarage96 2 месяца назад

      .020 Sounds right, Only one side of the coil is adjustable. Adjust it all the way out until it hits the flywheel, where you feel it rubbing, then pull the flywheel off again and back it out just a hair. Does your mower have a kill switch under the backing plate? If that is grounding out it wont make spark. If it has a kill switch disconnect it. Just started working on my super A. Neat little tractors. Usual minor issues, stuck motor, stuck shifter, stuck everything but will come alive in time.

    I had one of these back in the 80s. I didn't find it that difficult to start. No decompressor or anything. I wasn't a big guy back then probably 6' tall and only 165pounds. It was just more down to technique I think.
