I would love to see donning and doffing drills take place with the bunker gear in a standing locker, or set up next to the rig. Practice how you operate on a daily basis. Who stores 100% of their gear laid out on the floor, SCBA and all?!

Just seeing this. I retired 5 years ago as chief of department. I was 54. I could kick the new kids ass every time. Things have really changed. When I came on, everyone was a veteran. I was only out a few months and in great shape. I still an for my age. I was just always trained to be a bull. The new guys are just not the same.

The captain would fail the NFPA practical skill as his collar flap wasn't done up, exposing his neck.

i feel like one truck should be for men to change and another truck for firefighting, this way the men can put on everything while they get driven to the site.. like a big box truck where they all stand and equip and someone up front drives like a ups guy :)
