Whenever I hide the spiral and save it as .svg, i can't see anything in the saved file. Its empty. Any idea?
How will it work for Laser?
Unfortunately IDK enough about lasering to know what the files should look like or how they are read. The most I think I know is that its "color coded"? Lol. Like Red is for outer edges that cut all the way thru? Lol I am definitely ignorant to the process. But. If you can explain to me what the FILE needs to be successful, we can probably work it out. Lol :)

How do you get the spiral and from where and what program are you using ???
I am using Inkscape software, it has a built in spiral tool where you select how many spirals you want.
New to layering but I learned a lot here. Perhaps I’ll give this a try.
How do I get the image out of inkscape after this? Do I go to Save As or Export? What file type do I choose? Thanks
Hi, you would File, Save As, Inkscape SVG or Plaim SVG. Also note, theirs a bug in Cricut causing files to come in way larger, so "make note" of your project size

Thank you for the detailed walkthrough! This really helps! My offset settings are not saved correctly. The first time I attempt to use -0.035cm, and then go back it is set to +0.035. I'm on the latest version 8.17.70

Cricut is an "electric cutter machine". But that's awesome! What program do use for your laser files? I use Inkscape for most of my files and I know many make their laser files there.

I havent upgraded to 1.3 Im still on 1.1 but I would imagine the steps are generally the same as its an extension.

Yes! I just did this to over a hundred spools of ribbon! People would not BELIEVE the space it saves. I store in clear shallow totes. What was in 7 deep totes now fits in 3 shallow!

Which scoring tool do you use
I use both, the original stylus score (from the explore models) and/or the score wheels. I like the stylus since it doesnt prompt me to change it for the blade, but the wheel does work better for thicker papers.
question do the svgs need to be extracted first? or can you view them as thumbnails before they are unzipped?
TBH IDK, I guess I havent paid that much attention. As soon as I get on my pc this morning, Ill test it and let you know.

Thanks Sabrina - I came up with another ? What if you want to keep the spiral path and have text spaced above the line? Vertical spacing?
This process, places text ON THE PATH. And the spiral is one "linear path"... Im not at my computer, but if I'm not mistaken, there is an option when creating the spiral (before converting to path) to control the distance of the spiral lines. Which will allow you more spacing. There may be some workaround, you may be able to do an offset of the spiral, or add a thick stroke, and then place the text to path that path, on those, convert to path the text and delete the "thicker spiral" .. This is theoretical, I havent tried, but when I get in front of my computer, Ill see if I can find a work around to successfully do this.
This is good to know but what if you want the text to start at the outside of the spiral?
hi, I have n updated video I have to post yet. You would have to first, select your spiral, then go the Path>Object to Path, then Path>Reverse Path. This changes from a spiral shape, to a plotted path with nodes. Reversing the path, changes the direction the text moves in, out to center or center to outter... I will try and post and update... lmk if you have any more questions.
