The Transporter (Ex. Transperth UQB497) Mercedes Benz O305 (W3D)
A throw back in time to the sounds of the MTT/Transperth fleet between the mid 1970's and late 2000's. Ex Bus 497/UQB497 from MTT/Transperth still running around as a party bus with The Transporter.
While the gearbox is a little bit thumpy, the engine, hubs and retarder provide quite the musical theatre for the ears.
This bus has just recently turned 39 years old!
Chassis No: 307001 61 041702
Engine: Mercedes-Benz M407.913 6cyl 11.413ℓ 200hp diesel
Gearbox: Mercedes-Benz W3D 080R 3sp automatic w retarder

Operating in service on a 362T with Path Transit (first shift) since transferring from Transdev. The voith gearbox ECU on this vehicle is programmed in the Power setting which makes for an enthusing ride through the suburbs!! Yes thats right.. Kickdown on a 3sp Voith! A longer video showcasing just how quick a renault rigid can be... While undergoing maintenance the accelerator linkage had been adjusted which opened the throttle right up and also allowed the kickdown switch to become active when pedal was fully depressed. This made for a short temporary bit of fun to push the bus to its limits and see what it could ...

Possiblly the loudest ZF gearbox in the Transperth fleet prior to its withdrawal. TP1882 putting on a littlle deonstration of just how good the Mercedes OC500LE CNG buses can be when driven right and looked after mechanically. Of course there are plenty of worse examples!

Do you know a bus simulator with the ZF sound fidelity?
New validation readers. A good upgrade but will take a while to get used to - especially on a 405.
I would drive buses again if they sounded this good. These days they are extremely boring. These and the older V8 PMC's (either 5 speed manual or 4 speed Allison automatic) had the best sound and were fun to drive.
Turkey, Ankara's fleet has a ton of MAN Lion's Classic CNGs with older ones (2006-2008) having ear-blasting Voith's and newer ones (2009-2011) quiet ZF's. this is my first time hearing a ZF in its full glory lol

A few reasons... Age, Gas tank expiry dates, gas facilities being faced out and decomossioned at some depots.
They're over 15 years old now. Due for withdrawal

Would be good if the Adelaide ones were this audible. You can barely hear them in contrast to this one, once they get to 4th gear or higher.
Seem's to be only a handful of loud ones over here, Sydney buses have way louder ZF boxes from what I have heard. Could be something to do with the body building and sound prroofing?
