You should also talk about the deductible associated with the different coverage.
Please note that one can add comprehensive only, without collision. It makes sense in the countryside, where we have deer accident, rodent damage, tree fall, …
Well explained❤ thank you so much
Thank you for taking the time to watch. Would you mind sharing with me how you found the video?
Scenario A: A vehicle destroys a liability insured vehicle. Scenario B: A vehicle destroys a comprehensively insured vehicle. Will the compensation amount be the same in both scenarios?
Thank you for your comment. Scenario A: The at fault drivers' insurance will evaluate the damage caused and the cost to repair the damage against the current value of the vehicle. This comparison will either result in the vehicle being totaled and an actual cash value payment being made. Scenario B: Same as scenario A Definitions are important. Liability means the insurance company will repair damage that you do to someone else. It will not pay for the damage to your vehicle. Comprehensive coverage is added to pay for things like Rock chips, theft, and fire damage to your car. Collision coverage is added to pay for damage to your car that is your fault In the insurance world a car has either Liability only or Liability with comprehensive and collision coverage added commonly known as full coverage.
Thanks for the video!
Thank you
To employees just use your judgement. I got injured at work years ago. It was my first job during school. I worked at Victorias Secret and I was opening boxes of clothes to get them ready to put on the racks. I ended up cutting my finger accidentally on the box cutter. I cleaned it up and got the bleeding under control. I put a glove on so I didn’t get any blood on anything. After my shift I drove to the ER to have it checked out. It wasn’t bad I just needed a few stitches. When asked what happened I just said I got cut at home making food. My personal insurance covered it no questions asked. Everything healed and life went on as usual.
If you have full coverage and are in an accident, but the damage is more than the value of the car. Will your provider pay for the repair or just give you retail value?
If the cost to repair the damage reaches a certain percentage of the value of the car the insurance company will total the vehicle instead of repairing it. The total will be made off of the actual cash value of your car. The insurance company will go out and find comparison that should be very similar to your car's mileage, features and what the current market is bearing for your car.
is a little too simplistic
Hello and thank you for your comment. Always happy to do a deep dive on the topic. Due to the variation in the way the master association policy can be written simplistic was the goal in this one. Please feel free to contact me if you should have questions.

Your comment made my day, Thank you!!!!!!
Yesterday they hit my back bumper I was on red light waiting for green light to go forward we both have liability insurance only is it worth it getting an attorney
Hi Ozzy, when someone rear ends you, in most cases they will be seen at fault for the accident. If that is the case their insurance company should work with you to repair your car, provide a rental car, etc. If the cost to repair the car is enough to total the car, their insurance should pay you for the actual cash value of your car. The only reason to get a lawyer involved is if you have been injured severely. I would ask this same question to your current agent and let them guide you. Thank you for your comment.

You can do 2 layers roofing if old roof is single flat roof and the roof not too bad.you will save labor and $ .the weather will good for inside your house 🏡 even weather hot or cold and heavy rains + snowing. I have try 3 layer but not good
We agree it can be done however the insurance industry does not recommend it. In the long run it is better to tear off and replace. You may save the labor cost at first but will eventually pay for the additional labor and haul away of the Mutiple layers.
Thanks ❤

I have a question I know someone that is lying on his case...I saw him working in a land in México. And he has a big case. Which is a fraud. Do I need a video or picture to prove it?
Great question. I would notify the insurance company and let them investigate the claim. That way you are not directly involved. Use the claims process that is in place. It is what you pay them for.
@scottagencyinc.7911 claim process? I am not understand.
generalmente tu notificarias la compania de seguro que hace tu workers compensation y ellos performar una investigacion.
Oh, look.... and insurance salesman and roofer say it's better to spend more money. I'm shocked. Funny, because most building codes and inspection codes say that 2 layers is perfectly fine.
That even made me smile. Simply trying to help people understand the rules of that the insurance companies are going to go by. Everyone can do as the please, however is your insurance agent bring these issues to your attention? If you have an insurance question, who are you going to ask? Probably an insurance agent. If you have a roofing question, who are you going to ask? Probably a roofer. Knowing the rules of the game is half the battle.
@@scottagencyinc.7911 Taking a quick survey of my immediate family that are homeowners, we've collectively paid about 100 years in premiums, and only 1 of us had made a claim in that time. Whereas, I've shelled out thousands in small repairs that were below my deductible or not covered by the policy, as is the case with most home repairs. Tell me again how insurance isn't a forced scam/extortion that the banks and insurance companies are working together on to keep themselves rich.... I'll wait.
The reality is that its of higher quality to 'ot go over but not necessarily necessary. Meaning at the end of the day it will not make a difference if you go over or you tear but definitely better to tear. And have only 1 layer of course. Put it this way 3inches of armer gets the job done but 4 inches is better
Hey David, your explanation makes perfect common sense. The explanation of the insurance adjustor is that when a hail stone hits a single layer roof it has a better opportunity to bounce off the shingle. The stone hits the shingle immediately backed by the by the roof sheeting and will bounce. Can still cause damage and bruising. When we add more layer of shingles the hail stone hast to penetrate the first layer then the second layer before the stone hits the roof sheeting and bounces back. Probably did not do a good job of explaining that. Additional layers allow for the top layer to be damaged, and the damage goes unnoticed for long periods of time often creating more damage. That is an explanation looking through a insurance lens.
I have been roofing for 20 years and i have seen less then 5 successful hassle free insurance claims. Out of 1000's of roofs. To not do a second layer on account of this is grasping.
this was really helpful than you Brian!
Weighs too much got dips in my dam roof now thanks to the last owners im guessing cuz of this? Plus when i get a new roof will i pay more for 2 layers to be torn off?
Definitely one of the issues we see and to be aware of, thank you for sharing.
Of course you will pay more
If your roof has dips, it's not because of the shingles. It's because your decking wasn't inspected properly, and the decking (sheathing) and potentially your rafters were in bad shape to start. If you rip both layers, plus the underlayment off, you'll most like find decking and rafter weaknesses.

Hello Dan, Thank you for your comment. My opinion and the information I offer are only my opinion, and there are always options. If you were a client that had a claim, and it went sideways because of the issue that is discussed in this video. You would smell something at that time as well. Knowing how the insurance companies think is half of the battle. Hiding from the issue does no good. Best wishes to you.
All the best to you .@@scottagencyinc.7911
I had a second layer of shingles put on over the first and it has been over 20 years with no problems. So believe what you want. It sure works for me.
Adding a second layer is entirely possible. It is simply not recommended by insurance professionals. The issues that can occur and cause trouble are all seen after the second layer has been installed. if there are issues it is too late by then. My video and information are an effort to inform and educate the public to the issues that I see from my desk. I am positive that many homeowners that have a second layer of shingles have no problem. The ones that do have issues ask the question "Why did anyone tell me that would or could be an issue?". I sincerely hope that if you have an insurance claim on your roof for it to go as smoothly as possible. Thank you for your comment.
Here is where i can agree. Getting a second layer and getting a bad roofer go hand and hand on average. Cause now you have less experience roofers to choose from, maybe lazy ones and more that dont take pride in their work. But that alone is where the problems arise not particularly from a second layer. A good roofer can do it without a single problem arising for 30 years.
@@davidfuentes7942 Hey David, we can agree on your comments. In no way saying it cannot be done. Just highlighting the issues that arise according to the insurance companies. Everybody involved has their evidence or experience to back up their statements. My sole purpose of sharing this is to inform clients of the potential issues ahead of time so they can make an educated decision. So many times, in today market, no one advises of the potential issues that may arise.
Your message is for the good and i hope people actually change their mind about doing it.. Unless they know a good roofer, more often then not.. They will regret it.
Great video. Thanks. @insurance012
Surprise surprise… a roofing company says not to dual layer. Lol
Kind of like an insurance agent telling you that you need more insurance. :) The difference on the second layer of shingles is that we have the data to back it up. Clients are welcome to add a second layer of shingles to their roof, but it will not work out the way they want it to at the time of a claim. I am one of the few that actually loft the issue out there for discussion. Not saying it is 100% correct but knowing how the insurance is going to react is half of the battle. I do appreciate your comment.
I wonder who started calling it “full coverage?”
Must be some wicked hail if it can penetrate an architectural shingle with another layer underneath ha
Here is to hoping it never happens to any of us!
Yeah...I can't find any resources showing that hail can penetrate two layers of 3-tab shingles. I would never do business with either of these people.
For us to do it right and a way I'm happy with it bassically ends ups costing the same. You'll save dump fees and tear off . But it all adds back up because we have to cut back overhangs and drip edge the entire perimeter . Remove the hip and ridge caps . Purchase longer roofing nails . By then you may save 500 bucks maybe on a 15 sq roof . Not worth it and we don't do it .
Thank you for your comment.
Insurance companies are the reason I finally did a second layer in the first place! We had 70 mile an hour winds which ripped several dozen shingles and my vents apart. The crooks at the insurance company came out and undercut the repairs by 1000’s of dollars. I couldn’t get a quote within 3k of their payout. Not to mention it was my 1st claim in 30 years. So I decided since it was a pretty simple but large garage to do it myself. Never did it before, but studied and took my time. Turned out perfectly fine. Not sure what they mean by MFG warranty. Sounds like some BS they would never backup anyway. I’m finding in my old age that so many companies are so unethical, I try to do everything now myself if possible, then I know it’s done right! If it was my home which is complicated and steep, probably not, but a large detached garage will now be good for the rest of my life and I learned a little in the process.
Hello @restoreamerica and thank you for your comment. Roof claims are the number one cause of claim in our agency. I can appreciate how you took care of your situation however I do not advise my clients to perform their own repairs. We suggest that any repairs are performed by a licensed and insured contractor. In many cases the contractors work will come with a warranty. The contractor's general liability insurance will also respond in the event of any issues after the job is complete. One of the reasons that we see roof claims rejected is due to workmanship defects and those can usually be traced back to the contractor and their insurance would potentially respond. Times have changed and insurance companies are definitely playing hardball when it comes to roofs. I would ask your insurance agent if your roof has replacement cost coverage or actual cash value coverage. The difference between the two coverages is drastic and should be understood. Replacement cost is better however if your policy is actual cash value, knowing that will at least allow you to prepare. Ask your agent to perform a policy review with you. During the conversation ask him or her if there are any riders available that are not currently on your policy. This could also be a way to avoid surprises. All the best to you and thank you for your comment.
@@scottagencyinc.7911 Warranty? 😂 Good luck in any situation with that . In today's economy, more and more people are doing layovers . Yes its also alot cheaper , not a fraction cheaper, alot cheaper. It's not ideal, but hey ,once again this is about money and surviving for alot of people in 2033, and if it was so terrible it wouldnt be up to code to do layovers . I've seen them hold up 20 years, I've seen total new roof replacements fail in 2. It's all subjective. That said, you're right , the best thing to do is a new roof, alot of Americans simply cant afford it , it's not deeper than that .
@@davidjames5881 I can agree with your comments. Part of my goal is to help others understand how the insurance companies think at the time of claim. We will all do what it needs to survive this crazy world!
The roofer saying the material costs are the same. Lost me right there. If you do. Roof over, you save drip edge, ice and water, underlay. And the tear off and disposal.
Hello David, thank you or your comment. Your point is well taken. A full tear off total roof replacement can be more expensive than placing shingles over existing roofing. The issue is that our studies show that roofs with more than one layer of shingles, actually sustain greater damage during a hailstorm. When the hail stone hits, it will penetrate the first layer of shingles, move through the second layer and then hit the plywood sheeting creating that bounce. When it is a single layer of shingles, the hail stone does not have multiple layers of roofing to penetrate, and the stone is more likely to bounce instead of leaving a divot in the shingles. Not saying there still would not be damage but there is less of an opportunity for severe damage. If it were acceptable and cheaper to shingle over a roof, the insurance companies would do it all day long verses a full roof replacement. While it may be more economical to do an over lay, it is not recommended. Thank you again for your comment.
So BS, one layer is more effective? Have u see how they make bullet proof vest? This must be a joke!
Great Vid, Thanks a lot Scott!
Thank you Moe.
Bull!! it can be done with no issues
Hello and thank you for your comment. You are absolutely correct it can be done with no problem. We do not however recommend this and have the studies to backup our recommendations. It is just a recommendation that our clients generally find value in, especially at the time of a claim.
Does workers comp cover days out of work mandated by a physician?
Hello and thank you for your question. As long as the injury is covered by the work comp policy, i.e the injury happened while on the job the answer would be yes.
Can my wife use the car I get from my company as per company vehicle policy?
Good question and I think you hit the nail on the head. I would go by the company vehicle policy. I would even call HR and ask for clarification before I would assume it is OK. Normally on a commercial policy they want to be able to vet each driver through running reports on all possible drivers. Just cross your T's and dot your I's with the company you work for.
Great explanation! Thank you
If a worker is injured while travelling to or from work , are they covered under WC?
Great question and a tricky one as well. I am going to advise that you turn in the claim to be safe and let the work comp company define if there is coverage. This takes you out of the hot seat as you can simply allow the work comp company to do the research and either accept or deny the claim. The answer to the question you asks can change depending on the type of work and the circumstances. Some if it revolves around when is the employee is officially considered on the clock? This answer can vary depending on the company and the job. This is similar to the questions if an employee slips and falls in the parking lot coming in or leaving work. These are best sorted out by the work comp company and depending on the results, modify your policy and procedures manual. Hope this helps.
Dude my insurance doesn't want to warranty a full restoration what the f**k makes me be sure that the product warranty is not going to do the same? I think it's all BS. The fact is that roofers do encounter roofs with not 2 but even four layers and they get all upset because they didn't know it had them. Some people are smart to add layers because either they do it them selves and the wood is fine not needing to strip the existing layer. The city permit allows 2 layers and maybe even 3 but not 4. You know this to be true. But any contractor doesn't want to deal with that they want to get paid for an estimate that is done for a complete job from scratch.
Hello Lich, I am sorry that you are having issues with your insurance. We work with clients to try and ensure a smooth claims process. My recommendations on having a single layer of roofing, comes from a position of claims experience. It is a fact that roofs with Mutiple layers of shingles experience more damage from hail and wind than roofs with only a single layer. There is always more than one way to get a job done. My recommendations will always be a single layer roof. Thank you for your comment.
@@scottagencyinc.7911 it's too late they gave $1100 for repairs I'll need to pay for it myself. I'll probably just take my vacation before rain comes again this year get tools and do it myself.
@@LEDFOOT49 Understood. I want to caution you that most roof claims that go sideways come from improperly installed roofing or what they call workmanship defects. I know all to well that money does not grow on trees but if you can have a licensed and insured roofing company do the work it could be beneficial. If you are a contractor, I understand you doing the work. Hope it all works out. Be safe.
Workers Comp is the biggest JOKE LIE ever created. If it weren't, everyone wouldn't need lawyers.
Everything sounds good till constumer start making drama and cry when a contractor come with all licenses and workers compensation insurance obviously work be a lot more expensive if someone without license and proper insurance

Great video, thank you! I have a question. My husband is a self-contractor and sometimes I help him out and do work for him that may take 4-5 hours. He does not pay me and he does not have any other employees. Is he still required to get Worker’s Comp Insurance? Please advice. Thank you! 🙏🏼😇🙏🏼
Hello Jaca, thank you for your question. Weather or not he is required to carry workers compensation is driven by two things. The laws in the state that you live in as well as the contract that he is working under. There are some instances that even though the state may not require him to carry work comp, the contract for the job he is on may require him to carry it. You being a helper on the job site and not on payroll is a totally different nut to crack. Workers compensation companies really do not like that set up. Since work comp premium is driven off of payroll, they are not getting any premium from your contribution to the business. The work comp company wants to make sure that any workers are trained and have agreed to any policy and procedures that the business owner has in place. In the real world this happens all the time. I know your question did not pertain to if work comp would apply to you, however it would be difficult to make a claim since you are not on the payroll. We never want to see anyone get hurt on the job, however if that does occur we want the work comp to take care of what ever may occur. Hope this helps and thank you for helping your husband out. We need all the help we can get.
