BHSpringSolutions Hi-Power University Session 115: Typical Service Life of all Hi-Power Components
Bought this a few months ago, along with their extended slide stop/release and no matter how much I tried, I could not get the slide stop/release to go through the hole of the recoil spring guide rod. So it is now just sitting in my gun safe collecting dust.
Would you do a review or overview of the centurion 14 high power clone?
My L9A1 shoots pretty good. I can hold a 3” circle at 25 yards unsupported with FMJ. I did work the trigger down to a crisp 4 lbs. It was over 6 lbs stock. BTW the FN sear and hammer spring are dimensionally different than the one in this pistol.
Aaaaaaand I’m putting the lever spring back into my mark 3 clone lol.
Will this mount Meprolite Hp3 iron night sights ?
Mark, as always, another excellent detailed review. I'm sure I'm not alone in my appreciation of an engineer who speaks in English to us non-technicals in the audience. I am currently waiting for the 30-day California holding period to end for the purchase of a consigned SA*35 (Born March 2023, Ser#18,xxx). Just in case it turns out that there are issues with the gun, is there a BHSprings service/repair package that will remedy all the issues of the SA*35?
HP Improvent for BROWNING
Mark, always very informative content. This was extremely detailed, especially for someone who is not a pistolsmith. I am left with the question of since my 2012 BHP is there at BHSS at the moment, having upgrades performed that include changing the trigger to your wider trigger, which if I understand correctly, does not provide for the magazine disconnect, does (or by how much) my exposure to criminal or civil liability potentially increase? Or does the fact that the magazine disconnect does not function with such trigger negate any added exposure? Has USCCA or any firearm liability defense lawyers weighed in, or better yet defended one of their members/policyholders, on this issue, now that it's been 6 years since you made this video?
Absolutely no interest in the Girsan. However, as a happy owner of two 1911's and a Hellcat from Springfield, I just bought the SA35 and I love it! Always wanted a Browning High-power, but they can get exspensive. The SA35 doesn't have the magazine disconnect, better sights and a 15 round mags, and still remains true to the original Browning in every other way... Nice grips too. The mat blueing is done really well and looks great, but I'd love to see it in a gloss, blued finish...
👍sehr schöne Präsentation 🤗🇱🇻
Hi - I am a noob to the world of the Hi-Power... I think that your BHSS website, info, and products are all excellent. I'd like to respectfully question one thing in this video: At 8:40, you say that Dieudonné Saive developed the first ever double stack, detachable box magazine for the Browning Hi-Power. However, I think it was actually the Savage 1907, designed by Elbert Searle, that was first, as it says in the Savage 1907 Wikipedia page: "In a notable innovation, the (Savage 1907) pistol uses a staggered ("double stack," or "double column") detachable box magazine which allows for a 10-round capacity in .32 ACP caliber and a nine-round capacity in .380 ACP caliber. While the introduction of this design is commonly associated with the Browning Hi-Power, its use in the Savage Model 1907 predated the patenting of the first prototype of the Hi-Power by over a decade, and its production by almost 30 years." Also, there are several other web articles on the 1907, that call out the double-stack magazine as one of several of the pistol's important design innovations. I hope this is helpful info, and keep up the great work you do with BHSS. - D
Your website says out of stock. Will you be making more?
Time for me to upgrade from stock :)
Cant believe you sold it
Take 500 to 1000 rds to break a 1911 in everything with smooth up even the trigger
Great video and I learned a lot about the Hi Power. I'm a 1911 guy but, love Hi Powers. From my experience, I've known Sellier and Belott ammo to be much hotter. This what accounts for the extra distance the casings are the thrown. I have a croissant P35 and I actually did went and changed most of the springs.
I have numerous hammer fired pistols with single action break weights less than 4 lbs. I enjoy these pistols and shoot these pistol accurately at the range. It is true though, there is the very occasional thrown shot. So, I accept that for defensive purposes, a trigger can be too light, but it's also true that a trigger which is too heavy causes inaccuracy. As Mark states, the Girsan has roughly a 7 1/2 lbs break and I can say definitively 6 lbs or more is too heavy to be accurate. I think a 3.5 to 4.5 lbs single action break is the sweet spot and I'm not yet convinced the Inglis isn't fine just as it is, unless there are reports of failure in the field? A question for SDS/MAC and their manufacturer, which is Ozerbas Makina Silah, not Girsan or Tisas. (The Inglis mags are made by Sabatti of Italy, not Mec-gar.) Mark does make valid points about potential for litigation from triggers altered to be too light, but some service pistols are absolutely too heavy to be accurate. The classic example is the NYPD ordering Glocks with 12 lbs triggers to approximate the double action pull of the revolvers they issue. 3 lbs is too little and 6 lbs is too much and the perfect weight probably varies by gun and by shooter. Have to admire Mark's patience and attention to detail.
The manufacturer is Ozerbas Makina Silah of Turkey, not Girsan or Tisas. The barrel may have Ozerbas written on it. As I understand it, the Girsan MC P35 utilizes a 30 lbs hammer spring and has a heavy trigger. If the existing hammer spring in the Inglis is replaced with a 30 lbs spring, will the trigger break weight not also increase to the level of the Girsan MC P35? (I own two of the Girsans and I realize other factors may contribute to the trigger break weight) I'll accept that less than 4.5 lbs break is undesirable in a hi power, but I certainly don't want a trigger break much over 5 lbs. Lastly, I'm wondering whether problems are cropping up in the field and what, if anything, SDS/MAC is doing about them? Have rolling improvements been made in the gun?
Will the SFS work in the Springfield 3” 9mm EMP?
Light trigger since it doesn’t have the Mag-safety.
Great content poor video lighting. Can't see any of the internals being shown
I love my HP's but I started with Colt 1911 Combat Elite in 1987 .
Nice restoration of a great firearm!
When are you going to have the FM Detective guide rod back in stock. I've been waiting a year
Beautiful!!
Impressive analysis however watching the shooting portion I did have some concerns about the gray pickup truck in the backstop area. Maybe it was an optical illusion maybe it was further away than I thought
There is no one else I would want to work on my Hi Power. This is an honor.
That is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you guys to really connect with the direct history of the BHP pistol legacy! Very cool.
How far are the group holes in the barn?
I’ve been talking to John this last week. After seeing this I can’t wait to get home from this trip so I can get my FEG in the mail!
Beautiful. BHSpring Solutions upgraded my 2 BHP's and I am very pleased with the results. These folks do GREAT work.
Beautiful.
Mark, that looks amazing! Is that a blued finish? John Browning would love you guys!
Nice
Need Recoil springs both for 40 S&W and 9mm please advise, I sent an email but got no response
I must say the new trigger is fantastic you cant go wrong installing it.
Are these parts machined or mim? Just curious about how they’re built. Can’t find the info anywhere. Sent an email but no one responded. Thank you
Very knowledgable gunsmith. It seems a little tainted with marketing. My inglis p35 has forged slide, frame, and barrel. Other parts are quality as well. More accurate than my glock 17, and I had none of these problems. I did have every so often a snag in the trigger pull. After 200 rounds, its gone. These aren't petfect pistols, but quality and value is certain.
You mentioned in the past the only difference between a MkIII 9mm frame and 40S&W frame is the ejector. Have you ever tried fitting a 40 slide on a 9mm frame and testing it. If so it seems as if some company started to offer aftermarket properly made 40 spec slides, a new 40 S&W could perhaps be built on a Used Mark III 9mm or perhaps Springfield 9 mm High Power. I recently saw a HP 40 slide with target sights on EBay but they wanted $750 for it.
I have a regular Arcus...not a bad gun.
Thy
Well deserved recognition!
A true compliment to you guys, congratulations
That’s awesome.
thats so cool 😮
Thank you! You are an amazing resource for BHP fans, both original Browning and clones!
Excellent information. Thank you.
I neeeed it!
I hope all the high power clones coming out are helping your business!
Unfortunately for me on my original Hi Power sport model the extended slide stop/release required me to ream out the original recoil spring rod hole for it to work. Even worse the buffering guide rod from BHSS I installed also required reaming to work. Without the work neither allowed the slide stop to move when it was installed. Really makes me wonder about all their installation videos where everything pops in and out no problem.
