If you want your portfolio yields to hit 3k, you should put that 40k projected deposits into SCHD with its 3.6 yield. Your portfolio allocation has 70% into VOO. VOO only has a 1.2% yield.

I'm still dollar-cost-averaging into BTI. I think this is still a great company at a low valuation. Also, they are slowly transitioning into still keeping their customers addicted to nicotine without killing them through lung cancer. I see a buy and hold forever company here, same with Altria.

JP, you're incorrect on dividend payout. It's calculated in British £, so the currency fluctuation has caused the dividend to look unstable when it's converted to USD.

BTI is the best placed tobacco player. They wrote off the value of all their cigarette brands, while the others still act as if they'll have value in 50 years. I was buying until around May but the price went up too much, now hold.

Reason for the drop in 2023 was a massive write off btw 🤔 It was a rather large write off and made the other tobacco stocks drop as well (including my MO holding). That’s why I know ☺️ Also: Taxwise BAT is better for Europeans short term. Long term MO is probably the better choice due to dividend growth and pricing power. And also because MO is faster at adapting to new markets. They did step into alcohol, cannabis and vapes rather effectively 🤔 I feel like MOs management is way more effective and forwardlooking 🤔

You need to dive deeper instead of relying on Yahoo finance numbers. You need to look up their financial statement. That net income loss number is MISLEADING. BTI took a one time 27 billion pound impairment charge for its US cigarette brands. It was just a write down of brand value. BTI did not lose any money last year. Their operating income before the impairment charge was $16 billion in 2023, a 15% increase compared to previous year. Keep in mind that BTI also has 25% stake in ITC worth almost $20 billion. That is $20 billion BTI can tap to expand their businesses. BTI started buying stock again this year ( almost $900 millions) and paying off debts ( reducing its debt from $54 billion in 2020 to $41 billion in 2024). Its non combustible products grew rapidly & turned profitable this year, 2 years earlier than expected. This rapid growth compensates the declining business of its combustible products (cigarettes etc). You do not buy sin stocks like BTI, PM for capital appreciation but for income.

I've held DE for a long time. My basis is $114.69/sh. I only say this to support your claims about dividend growth. Deere is paying me a 5.65% dividend against my basis. You commented that you held 4% to be a high dividend. DE is paying me a very high dividend because of their record of dividend growth. Cheers

What do you think of Cracker Barrel stock? Seems a bit low currently and they have a new leader at the helm from Taco Bell. Not sure if that bodes well for a franchise restaurant of its kind or if it dooms it. Also pays a dividend but it was cut by a lot the last quarter

there is nothing to brag about. We start small or big. but we start doing it. I start this year around july and my plan is to end the year with $20k in my portfolio. Currently at $18k. I have this month to deposited the remaining.
