It was Plagueis all along who prevented Anakin from achieving his full potential. It seems while Palpatine was deeply interested in a full potential Anakin/Vader, Plagueis wanted nothing to do with full potential Anakin and also wanted to make sure that there was no way Palpatine could have him if Palpatine were to betray Plagueis? but that’s just my observation

Qui Gon was the perfect example of a “grey” Jedi, he was a bit of a renegade and kept a balance in the force by bending the rules of the Jedi order. because of this would have tempered anakin. The Jedi were hypocrites in the final days, becoming generals rather than peacekeepers. If Qui gon survived he could’ve brought dooku back to his side as well

Thrawn was a highly complex and dangerous Foe to tackle. First and foremost he was painfully aware of threats in the unknown regions of space. As mentioned in this video, but there were likely others he was aware of that not even Palpatine knew of in texts of Sith lore. As Star Wars is prone to being more fantasy than anything else. Creatures of immense power and might could exist within the unknown regions and likely the Chiss were the only ones able to sense and keenly fight off such threats. Thrawn knew what made up the Rebellion, was that of hope. While many within the Empire sought to remove hope through Fear and conquest and might. Thrawn recognized that such tactics would only embolden and strengthen the rebels and thus make them even more dangerous. So he strategically systematically attacked the rebellion through Guerrilla tactics not unlike what the Rebels were doing, and threatened to uproot the rebellion if given more time. Thrawn attacked the culture of the rebellion, seeking to know more about his enemies with each encounter, learning how they moved, acted and then striking their vulnerable points. Palpatine was a tad curious and amused at the idea that Thrawn would play an imbalance within his Empire, as he knew many shared his Human only world views. Likely if Thrawn was anything other than a Chiss, he would been turned away or slain. But he also knew Anakin Skywalker and subsequently earned Darth Vader's respect also. Thrawn as a character is a prime example of what a good written character can do to change the lives of many star wars fans, and unlike the latest Disney blunders, Thrawn never changed or became something he was not.

Palpatine never betrayed Maul. He died in battle, following Palpatine's orders. These ideas are very good but the prequels themselves contradict them, that's is why I never liked those films. They are just a mess. Killing Maul was a bad idea to begin with, and bringing him back, in a CW remake no less, was even worse.

To pretend to show his sympathies, I'd assume, before watching the video, and he was already there for the victory celebration over the Trade Federation.

I remember when watching the gameplay clips. Carth shots fired at Darth Malak, but force pushed Carth and gave the iconic evil laugh. a memorable game that deserves a reward of storytelling.

I suspect Palpatine's thoughts were: aw shit, I thought we were done with him! Oh, Vader killed him? Good, maybe now he'll finally move on & become a real Sith.
