I've had a few people ask about what I've done to my Grando, so I made a quick video. This was my very first crawler, and while I was learning about RC crawlers I tried to apply some of that to this rig. When I got it, I knew it was going to be a project, but that's what I wanted at the time. Boy did I get hooked on the upgrades and mods!

I took the Cragsman C Pro for a day at the park with some friends and their TRX4s. Both TRX4s are far from stock, and the Cragsman has a NSDRC RS800v2 and an RC4WD Warn 8724 behind the grill.

I took the Cragsman C Pro out for a trail run @Fitzgerald Park along with Don and his Gladiator with 2.2" mudslingers. It was a lot of fun but I did manage to fry a rear diff lock servo after a deep creek crossing before the hill climb.

Just saying hi😊
Hello to you as well. I like my noise 🤘
I got a Yikong 4101 Land Cruiser Pickup 5 years far and man with some slightly changes (Wheels/tires and front brass weights) its a very cappabel 1:10 Trail Truck .I only break the plastic gear in the two speed after some realy though rides. There also a metal gear set i get from the Absima Sherpa (same chassis/gears) .
Thats a lot of difficult Rocks and puddels ! A nice Place for have realy fun!Nice Video!
It's a great spot, and it was a lot of fun that day!
Nice Review ,even the cons (not so many) i like. i want too make some skids under the axels and frame like i doo on any of my trucks. Any part you would change from the stock? Are the gears "greased" or doo i need dissambled the axels gears?
Lots of grease from factory. I had to make a little brace for the c-hub to tie it to the pan hard mount as the c-hub screw would loosen and wear out the thread. I did make stainless diff and skid covers for the rock racing it's going to do
@@brianmassey7563 Many thanks for your answer!
Ohhh you got rear steering?, amazing
Thank you so much for the review. I am really interested in traction hobby, but I have trouble finding reviews in English, and there isn’t too much Traction Hobby here in the states. Is there any “aftermarket” support out there for them. I know Vitavon and Treal don’t make anything for them, but anywhere else I should look? Upgraded axels, brass, diffs, etc, etc?
So...Traction Hobby doesn't have a presence in the States, but I email Traction Hobby direct when I need spares/replacements if I can't find them on AliExpress. The axles are metal, but not machined so you can strip out holes and such. Rigs already come with brass on all 4 corners, and double on the front. I'm not sure why you would need more. So far I've upgraded to a Mamba Monster X and an 1/8th scale Castle motor. I've upgraded my shift servos to the waterproof TRX4 replacements. I run an NSDRC RS800V2. It's soo good. I'm not sure what else aftermarket you want, but the rig is pretty complete as is.
Not the same tires lebt and right. Why?
Just showing the difference between tires...5.75" vs 5.3".
I miss that jeep body😢
Nice detailed review Brian, you covered a lot of the stuff I did in mine! Might be wishing I got the Grey now LOL
And I originally ordered blue but there was a shipping mistake!
If you work on the helicoil on the axle housing, it will be fixed more firmly.
I'm not sure what the helicoil is
Hello Brian, hey I just got my hands on one of these beasts. I want to swap out motors but not familiar with these. Can you provide some guidance on how to get it out? Thanks man!
The spur cover comes off with 3 screws from the top, then you can remove the motor plate with 2 more.
@@brianmassey7563 cool, thank you! Appreciate the help brother!
Nice! Run vid at any time? Cheers

Hi Brian, thanks for your Videos! I just ordered this Rig and as a Beginner, i would like to ask if you can recommend me a forum with a few TH users? Thanks a lot, fabio
There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information out there, at least from what I know of. I use the traction hobby Facebook group or just contact them directly. They seem to be more popular over in The greater China region, so a lot of information is not translated well or at all to English
@@brianmassey7563 thanks a lot, i will look for the facebook group.
I was not impressed and installing the ring with those holes inside the insert is a major PIA. The anti foams you compared them to are just plug and play, the crooked mittens is too much trial and error, and that’s only during the installation phase. Yes they are doable, but I did not pay to be fiddling with the ring installation, regardless of what wheel combo I decide to use
Hopefully you don't have to re-mount them and can just leave them in

You said you had scx 10 ii axles in there? How much modifying did you have to do to be able to use them? Just got the truck and I love it but the axles already sound bad and I just wanna upgrade. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!
None really. I did mess with link length, but that was not really that necessary, but since they are portals it does raise the vehicle up a tad.
Plastic axle housing has extra reinforcement plastic. Metal housing gives more clearance.
My grando is still basically stock accept for dual spring shocks (100 mil) 35kg Betu steering servo and injora 29t motor along wit a few sets of wheels n tires! Check out my early videos on it if youd like, cheers.
My downfall was that it was my first crawler, got it in the winter, and then had nothing to do but mod it, lol. After that it couldn't be left alone. It did great with the stock stuff. In fact, I might go back to the 35 turn stock motor.
Pleasure yo hear such a detailed experience. Its good for ppl like me on low budget to learn from others 😜
I'm not sure I'd classify this as a budget truck though. It's up there with Vanquish $$, but at this scale, and with a good overall design and necessary upgrades out-of-th-box, it's a good value IMO.
@@brianmassey7563 by budget I meant helping to decide one good thing that works than spending in 10 different things to find out what works. Thats where your videos come in handy. I have yikong 6×6 with axe R2 3300. Isdt 800 watt PS and P30 smart charger. Wouldn't say I am a budget person necessarily. But now I see I would have preferred 1/8 scale over this. But now I don't have money to buy. Lol. Atleast not for some time. But when I do I am not sure should i go for traction hobby or yikong. Considering once you upgrade yikong with aluminium housing and wheels and respectable tires. It costs same. There aren't many good detailed comparisons between these two rigs on youtube. Mostly rc creators are in US and neither of these two rigs are yet popular there. Torque twist on yikong ( even in my 6×6) leaves much to be desired and also lack of selectable 2WD 4WD. And the motor mount system is not well thought in my opinion. It doesn't allow to less then 14 thooth pinion. I had to drill a hole in the mount to fit 12 tooth pinion. All of this can be sorted by fitting BRX drive train. Whereas with Traction hobby, its the availability of parts. Yikong sells fully assembled aluminium axles for 1/10 and 1/8 too. I might as well buy parts from different manufacturers and build my own rig.
@@RanjeetSingh-qt9yh nice! My yikong 4083 should arrive next week and I'll review that
Nicely done, subscribed 😊
Thanks. You might not be able to tell on video, but that hill just falls in to the rocky creek below, and it's no-joke. It's difficult to just walk up it to drive the rig. Always a fun spot. Thanks for the sub!

As for the wheels you can remove ,unscrew , the small plastic cap covering a standard wheel 8mm nut which makes it easier for you to remove the tires :)
I found that out about 2 days ago. They fit so well you can't see any gaps and mine just press fit with a rubber o ring for friction.
@@brianmassey7563 I love the quality of TH Pro Comp wheels, best 2.2" true beadlock rc wheels with 40 functional screws on each wheel. I had to remount my wheels since they came not so well assembled and also as you noticed better check screws on chassi and prior of running but that goes for all RTR no matter brand.
Great presentation, much better than the unboxing I did for the Founder 2 :)
Thanks! I'm going to do a follow-up soon with my impressions after driving and some upgrades I feel are necessary
I would love to see big tires on that bad boy. Nice video. Very detailed, stable footage and one of the best description.
