An up and coming politician by the name of Jake Auchincloss has been a massive proponent of sweeping gun control all the while running on a platform that he’s a military veteran and fought for freedom. I understand the excitement of a sitting president acknowledging our God given rights but please be cautious in the excitement. Of course, I’m not a lawyer, politician, or judge. I’m just a person sick and tired of this.

While her desire to impress Hillary by taking an aggressive stance on gun laws for the 2016 DNC (July 25-28 2016) was a likely motivation there was perhaps a greater motivator. The Pulse Nightclub mass shooting which occurred on June 12, 2016 in which 49 people were killed and 53 more injured certainly provided her with an even greater impetus. The Pulse Nightclub in Orlando was a gay nightclub and while the motivation of the shooter was a bit murky the result was poignant particularly for the gay community. Maura Healey is an openly gay woman. Can there be any doubt that this event hit home for her?
