When I was a kid I remember my mate next door and his brothers were learning this haka in their backyard from their old man, I remember me and my brothers were watching from the windows. The dad saw us and told us to come over, next thing we know we learning with them lol legit one of the earliest memories I can remember.

Apart from being mildly sad about losing the cow part because it’s kinda fitting being rural, every NZ place name sounds about 100x better when you say it the correct way. Still having to pick and choose how I say Taupo so that people understand me. Man it sounds gross when I have to say it wrong though.

Hey there. I am determined to get it right and almost there. Somehow I get hung up on how much emphasis is on the “g”. Going from the breakdown to the final “construction” it seems to take on greater emphasis ie “gar” as opposed to “gnar”. Sorry don’t mean to come over picky but it’s important to me because it has become my home and I so want to get it right. And I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist obviously. This is the most helpful demonstration I have come across so thanks for putting it out there.
