Embark with me on a scientific adventure. I will apply 20 years of coaching and research to barefoot running and high performance trail running .
I want to see and understand foot mechanics and pure foot strength in a high performance application. We talk about technical trail running and technical ultra running.
I will attempt a long term transitioning plan to be able to run at the best of my physical abilities, all in very minimalist, light weight shoes.
We also will talk about shoes, do some shoe reviews too. Strength and conditioning. Diet. Self care. Lifestyle.
Off we go. Buckle up !

At 1:16 I meant external rotation, creating torque and stability for powerful movements. This is the exact opposite of what we want to achieve with foundation training, where we are opening up, pulling apart, releasing with internal rotation !!! Instead of compression, we do decompression !
Thanks!
love my VTrail 2.0 and Spyridon EVO Five Fingers for pretty much everything.
Thank you. You are the first comment on the channel. I appreciate that. Yes, the VFFs are great and summer time they are my go to shoes for a lot of stuff. Especially when I do these mixed runs and calisthenics. That flexibility and toe trickling is fun, educative and really open up the human senses. I had on the other hand many issues with the v-trail model. I bet that these are personal. The rubber seems like unfinished and when was running uphill, inside multiple toes it was pressing against my nails. It was very annoying. In both shoes, left and right, the arch region where the scratch was sort of attached, I always had chaffing. During the very first long run I developed blisters. Then for a year I was using it only for sprinting and short workouts and the reddening due to rubbing had never disappeared. After each run I had it. So I don't use that particular model. I like the trusted KSO and the VRUN 2.0. These are great. The only bemol is hard and steep uphill running or hiking. The moment I start sweating hard I just slide back and out from VFFs. I tried some more rigid models and getting a snugger size or wearing injinjis. I just still totally slide out from VFSs. So yes, if I wanted a minimal shoe for the mountains, I more likely use like the Xero Scrambler or Mesa, maybe the VVB Primus or sg. What we cannot deny is the durability of the VFF. My first KSO held up for 11 years . My first VRUN 2.0 for 3 years of a lot of wearing and mileage. My recent VRUN is 1.5 years old and still like new.
