About THE GOSPEL OF MARY by Hugi Guðmundsson
The Gospel of Mary is an oratorio based on the non-canonical text from a fifth century papyrus codex which is popularly known by the same name. The codex was only discovered in the late nineteenth century but a large part of the gospel is still missing. It depicts the close relationship Mary Magdalene had to Jesus and that she indeed was an Apostle, something that is not likely to have been popular with the patriarchy throughout the ages.
The oratorio is written for a chamber orchestra, chamber choir, organ and a solo soprano. Gospel of Mary was premiered by soprano Berit Norbakken, Schola Cantorum and Århus Sinfonietta in Hallgrimskirkja, Reykjavik, Iceland on June 6th 2022, as part of Re...

Nordic Affect playing the second movement of Händelusive by Hugi Gudmundsson on a very long day of recording for an upcoming CD release. After we had recorded nearly two full movements of the piece in a remote church in Iceland, the wind got so noisy that we ended up having to relocate into a sound proof studio and record the whole thing over again! This video clip is the first run-through the ...

An incredibly beautiful piece 🙏
This is a song that inspires a lot of peace. Do you know where to find the lyrics to this song? You have a follower in Catalonia. Thanks!
Thank you so much, Jordi! The lyrics by Snorri Hjartarson have, to my knowledge, not been translated into other languages. I've added the original (in Icelandic) to the video description.
@@hugicomposer Such a beautiful piece of music. I would like to add it to my playlist which I share with my Twitter followers when I update - twitter.com/rsm2800/timelines/1271974658737426439 . I understand there is no English translation, but could you say a word about the poem it is based on or the meaning of the title Hvíld? Thank you!
Hola Jordi. Estoy de acuerdo que es una canción que inspira mucha paz. Me encanta.

This interesting piece of music sounded much better live in Copenhagen tonight :-) (And without a conductor!)
