2016 Beale St. Music Fest - Beck - Hell Yes!
Was such a good show, remember sitting on the balcony with my brother and some of his friends. Was a good time
I was at this show. They came off as bored and not wanting to be there. I think they were in a funk. I saw them last year and they fucking rocked.
I was at this show. So cool to see this video. Well before cell phones with video recording capabilities.
<3
The world needs more people like you that have such passion, I love it!
Almost every song by them is way faster live, I hated when playing a song live and it was sped up cause I had to sing and I would run out of breathe, I don't like it played this fast, but wolf parade is one of the best unsung bands out there
I was thinking..."Who'd be the opportunist to make a cover of this" They have to be them. Fuckin' hipsters.
this crowd is entirely too hipster to show the slightest bit of amusement.
Everyone's aware that they covered this in the wake of his death right? I assume that's what you can attribute the solemn nature of this cover to
I feel like they did this for the wrong reasons. i mean they probably did it because they like jay but the way they played it was so boring. they did it the way they thought people would like it when they should've done it the way it was originally written or at least more energetic because when jay did it, it was energetic, it was powerful, it was just ahh every time i heard jay do anything live i got chills it was just so awesome.
@motucker44 I don't know what "omage" means and I looked it up and I guess no one else does either. I've heard of homage. And mimicking a song as a cover may be alright for average people doing music as a simple hobby but people like Arcade Fire who do it for a living shouldn't never do a straight imitation cover. They could if they want but it would be boring. So I don't think I incorrectly quoted Emerson.
@mitsurugi2651 Omage is not imitation. what R.E. was referring to is when an artist, writer, musician straight up imitates another one. it's very ignorant to quote someone when you don't even know the correct context to do it in.
@Pikkiomania Agreed, sorry about the rude comment. I just like how a bigger artist could also appreciate the music of jay. No hard feelings, and yeah I felt it was a bit epic, but it's also a tribute to Jay. Peace and much love.
@santacruznp I perfectly know Jay's music, but I don't like this cover. I think it's boring the way Arcade Fire wanted it to overcharge this beautiful song with their bold stadium epicness. I appreciate the tribute, but the result sounds like a Muse song to me. :(
@Pikkiomania I feel sorry for your mother.
@jam4996 Nah, that would be boring. Jay already did it his way, no need to do it that way again. And besides haven't you ever heard that quote from Ralph Emerson "Imitation is suicide".
Cool that they were fans of him and they did this tribute but if they're gonna do it at least play it the way it's written or at least close to it
My ears are officially shattered. That is not cool. Fergie, a member of the Black Eyed Peas (a lame mainstream group), singing Led Zeppelin, the best band in rock history? Hopefully Robert Plant's singing might heal my ears...
Deerhunter has a good cover of this too
Jay was a breath of fresh air to music. That kid was so fucking talented
By the way, great tribute to jay
boring shit
cool to see the fire was a fan of the legend that was jay.
i wish they would release this as its one of the best covers i have ever heard
@putoyelow No, it's a cover of a Jay Reatard song.
Awesome, thanks for this!
@drex48239 plus you get really pumped up when you go onstage so it makes you naturally play faster..
i never thought this song could be this good live
The head directly in front of the camera is mine. Great show.
Led Zeppelin : Black Dog Sublime : Santeria Rolling Stones : Start Me Up
the name of her songs are...
they really get me going. no one i've ever seen is like them.
fergie? singing zeppelin? what has this world come to
i like them faster, it gets me more energized when i use to play shows, the faster we played the funner
alot of bands at live shows play faster to fit more songs into the set
you can fit more songs into one show the faster you play
Mindblowing!
Does Dante DeCaro alternate between the bass and the guitar? Anyways, great footage!
fucking YES! pretend its whales! BRILLIANT!
is anyone even paying attention to the music being played? quit talking about how boring the people are. who gives a crap. plus, this was at the metro, which is all of 12 feet deep....so kinda tight quarters.
chicago people are boring?? fuck you.
Because Chicago doesn't have a big Indie scene to my knowledge. :o
you should have been at a show the played in philly there was much dancing and other things of that nature i think in the craziness of it all i may or may not have gotten laid haha it was such an awsome show
man, they have the coolest sound of like any band. all shakey and tweaked and broken and raw. if i was there i would have been going bananas, this is their best song.
um yeah.... wolf parade is amazing
=] awsome
Man , chicago people are boring , however there are never any people dancing at their shows i wonder why
well, it's so fast because, apparently, they wanted to play it fast. this video is in realtime....that's the speed they played it.
why so fast????
