Here are four key numbers doctors need to keep in mind when it comes to financial well-being and wealthspan: Rule of 72 The Rule of 72 helps us estimate the time it takes for your money (or debt) to double. For instance, at a 7.2% interest rate, a doctor who has $500,000.00 in investments would grow to $1,000,000.00 over a span of 10 years. This concept also applies to inflation and the cost of...

MD Financial: I know that I Bonds have a high inflation-tied interest rate for now, but do you know how I Bonds and EE Bonds have compared over the long haul? I am caught between the two options on the question of which one will actually (or is most likely to) do better over the first 20-years. I do understand that there is no crystal ball, but how have the two compared over the past two decades, for instance? Thank you. I enjoyed the content.
Thank you for reaching out! In terms of a 20 year projection, let's take a look: I Bonds may not be as ideal for long-term, 20 year horizons. They're attractive right now because inflation is so high (they can reset to lower rates if inflation goes down). They are good cash alternatives for someone that doesn't need the liquidity, and are good for goals when you might spend the money in 2-5 years from now. Whereas EE Bonds in general, have paid between 0.1 - 0.6% over the last 10 years. Once again, the government guarantees the EE bond value will double over 20 years! Here are the current rates: www.treasurydirect.gov/indiv/research/indepth/ebonds/res_e_bonds_eeratesandterms_eebondsissued052005andafer.htm
YES, I just mailed a new PSLF application with all my service time with the NYC Human Resources Administration. Again, initially applied in 2008 for PSLF and was granted the 120 income sensitivity payments but have since retired and no longer work there.
Retired 3 years ago after serving 18 years with HRA's NYC government ( HIV/AIDS population). I did apply back in 2008 for the PSLF 120 payment and was only paying $34 monthly in the income sensitivity program . Did the lockdown count towards my payments and why has it not been forgiven yet ?
While we don't know the specifics of your loans, something helpful might be to check the PSLF help tool to see what your latest loan status is. PSLF Help tool: studentaid.gov/pslf/ PSLF qualifications: studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service
This was very helpful. Thanks so much.
