Creating Perspective Reflections - Affinity Photo Tutorial
Most reflections of products are typically head on and straight down. For the most part, that works as long as your subject is straight and not foreshortened.
Here's a method to fake a perspective reflection using Affinity Photo. The more time you take on the distortion portion, the more realistic the effect will be.
I hope this opened up some new possiblities for you! If so, please hit the LIKE button and SUBSCRIBE to the channel for more Affinity Photo tutorials.

    • @tonycarretti2872
      @tonycarretti2872 2 дня назад

      The "fraying" all depends on the amount of displacement you dial in. Try going a little more aggressive in the Displace Filter and you should be able to see the effect in real time. Hope that helps!

    Nice looking result. Can you tell me why you use rasterize and trim on elements within the canvas? The paper background is a good example of trimming while rasterizing. Good stuff, just wondering what your thoughts process is.

    • @tonycarretti2872
      @tonycarretti2872 4 дня назад

      I've found that if I don't rasterize the texture layer first, that even though I'm copying and pasting the text selection the entire texture image gets pasted into a new layer rather than just the text. I should have demonstrated that because it was an issue at first. As far as rasterizing the groups afterwards, I'm actually just doing it to reduce the load on the computer. Probably not very necessary, just habit. Thanks so much for bringing it up though, because next time I'll be more thorough on the explanation! Thanks so much for taking the time to look!

    Generally, I believe in using any tools that someone is comfortable or used to working with. I would, however, recommend to use Affinity Designer for things like logo design, as it allows for a non-destructive workflow where you can change up colours, shapes, dimensions etc. Especially with logo design it’s pretty much precision work and often requires using a grid. I noticed the horizontal cutout is a big thicker than the vertical one, for example. And unfortunately with raster-based apps like AP, once you commit to it, that’s it. The appearance is baked in. In AD you have Boolean Functions where you can add or subtract (=cutout) objects, but if you apply the alt key, it’s none destructive. Perhaps in AP you could make a rectangular shape and use one of the blend option to emulate that. Sorry for my ramblings. I am by no means a professional designer but spent way too much time with watching all sorts of youtube videos on the topic of logo design and also am currently faced with the mammoth task of rebranding our business (which included designing a new logo, decide on corporate colours and shapes, new website; the whole shebang). If you ever decide on giving Affinity Designer a go and you need help/have questions, happy to help.
