I recently came across a video by, highly likely, an American person, whose video title was teasing an "anonymous artist" behind the most successful Disney comics. I was absolutely flabbergasted to soon realize the video was referring to Carl Barks. It's almost incredulous that with his body of work and influence he would be barely known in his native country. He created most of the Duck family, the Beagle Boys, Magica de Spell and Gyro Gearloose. It's kind of understandable that Barks would have been barely known during his time working for Disney. Reasons being that Disney tried to maintain the illusion that Walt Disney was doing all the drawing and didn't credit the artists and Disney comics not being that big of deal in USA. But nowadays? It's been 24 years since his passing. In Finland, he has been the most revered Duck artist ever since the Aku Ankka comics began in the 1950's. AFAIK, his first ever trip abroad was to Finland. This was, I think, in 1994. He was referred commonly as the "Duck Maestro" (Ankkamaestro).

Moebius was really something. He could draw completely different styles.

A wonderful story filled with great characters, I think the Ogre of Sutter Camp fits easily in the top 10 of villains I've known in any fiction.
