Slander ("La Calunnia") | The Barber of Seville
This aria, from Act 1 of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) is sung by Don Basilio, a music teacher/wedding planner/rumormonger whose aid Doctor Bartolo has enlisted in ensuring that Bartolo will be able to marry his ward without interference. In the recitative immediately before this aria, ruclips.net/video/XUOoD72JLjo/видео.html having heard that eligible young bachelor Count Almaviva is in town, Basilio suggests they ruin his reputation so he's run out of town. Man, Basilio needs... help...

Una voce poco fa but I arranged it as a duet (vocals to sheet music) | The Barber of Seville

In this video ruclips.net/video/XaoxxAQumhY/видео.html I performed the latter half of the aria "Una voce poco fa" from Rossini's comic opera Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) as a duet between Figaro and the Count, which was a lot of fun, but also a bit messy on account of the fact that I marked ahead of time which character would take the lead, but the non-lead vocal lines were impro...

This recitative occurs in Act 1 Scene 2 of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and goes between Rosina's "Una voce poco fa" and Basilio's aria "La calunnia". In this recitative we get our first glimpse at the dysfunction happening under Doctor Bartolo's roof and get to meet music teacher/wedding planner/rumormonger Don Basilio. Q: why is basilio weari...
Una voce poco fa (Rosina's song) | The Barber of Seville

This song from Gioachino Rossini's comic opera The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) occurs immediately at the start of Act 1 Scene 2 and is sung by Rosina, a role written for contralto. I'm a contralto profondo, a confusingly named vocal type that's actually more similar to a baritone leggiero than a contralto. (Who comes up with these names??) But I am on a mission to sing the entir...

In The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) the role of Rosina is written for contralto. My vocal type is contralto profondo, a very rare vocal type roughly equivalent in tessitura to a baritone. But since my vocal type has the word "contralto" in it, that must mean this song is written for my voice!!!! hahaha... bruh this song goes up to B6. wtf, Rossini? That's not fair. A lot of sopra...

This aria is from Act 1 of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and takes place after Doctor Bartolo catches his ward Rosina in several lies. If The Barber of Seville were a modern musical this would be "the villain song". This is the second song in Act 1 of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia). A lovesick young man with more money than sense has just finished singing an overly complicated love song, backed by a troupe of professional musicians, but it seems the object of his affections wasn't around to hear. It was fun to go back and do this character at the very start ...

This is the Act 1 finale of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia). this soprano aria "Il vecchiotto cerca moglie" is from the second act of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia). I have an abnormally deep voice for a woman and I couldn't make this aria sound good singing it at the pitch it was written, but I needed to sing this aria for the sake of completing my project to sing all of The Barber of Seville by myself (r...

this cavatina (often mistakenly called an aria) is from Act 1 of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and introduces the character of Figaro, the very busy do-anything barber. This song is from Act 1 of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia). What an unexpected shock! | The Barber of Seville
It's great harmonising but, from an Irish person, you need to practice pronunciation lol
lol no surprise there. thanks for watching!
@@TeamDogpit You have a very nice voice, and no problem! 👍🏻
Even better than the original!
hehe thank you! I wouldn't go so far as to say that but I think I've made a version that can be fun both for people who know the original and who haven't heard this opera before. I would love to hear how it sounds sung by a real baritone and tenor, that would either be really weird or really awesome.
Would it be possible to hear your natural voice just speaking naturally? I'm very curios. I mean speaking instead of singing
for sure, because I host contests for game developers, I have lots of videos of just me blabbing while playing the games submitted to the contests, like this one, ruclips.net/video/KfqvrWItgNk/видео.html if you go looking through my older videos nearly all of them have me speaking normally
Excellent indeed! Great creativity and perfect translation! Btw, can you speak Italian?
Thank you! No, I can't speak Italian but I am fluent in Spanish which helps a lot hahaha. There are so many cognates that I understand a lot of Italian (most nouns are similar, or things like "ahora" in Spanish is very like "ora" in Italian... even many of the verbs, including the irregular ones, conjugate the same way, like "vengo" for "I come") but I wouldn't be able to produce any original Italian sentences on my own 😅 also I lived for two years with a bunch of Romanians and because of that I speak some Romanian, that helps too, because in some ways it is more similar to Italian than Spanish (like face/far, when Spanish is hacer) there are some interesting things with regards to Spanish and this older form of Italian seen in this opera. In Spanish "with me" is always "conmigo," in "all'idea di quel metallo" the count mentions "portero mecco", as I understand "mecco" is not used in modern Italian, but it is a cognate for the Spanish "conmigo" which is used right now
@@TeamDogpit very interesting remarks! "Meco" is the contracted form of "con me" (me with inverted). It is a lofty and archaic form that I really enjoy using even today (also because I am archaic myself...). One aspect that makes certain parts of Barbiere irresistible is also the use of language, which often creates astonishing effects. In particular, I love the parts where the singers overlap, singing completely separate phrases that perfectly harmonize, creating an irresistibly comic effect. However, I fear this is very difficult to appreciate for those who do not speak Italian. As you are (masterfully) performing it, are you able to grasp all these linguistic and rhythmic nuances?
@@arcibaldo59 I am sure I don't catch everything but I've noticed a lot of what you mean about the parallel meanings. Like in All'idea Di Quel Metallo I did catch that "la fiamma io sento" and "il suon gia sento" are using two different meanings of sento (I feel, like the Spanish "siento" and "I hear"), and this heightens the humorous effect of how Figaro is thinking of money while the Count is thinking of lofty things like love. I also noticed things like how the cavatina from the very beginning of the opera is sort of a weird messed up version of Ah il più lieto heard at the very end haha and like in these songs the parallelism is very obvious ruclips.net/video/0lGJYhg9j3M/видео.htmlsi=Fn3Vwza1oo5iFq_2 ruclips.net/video/8SSU8mg-0u0/видео.htmlsi=YMH0GzTHxuh8V8nH even so I am sure I am missing plenty haha

Unbelievable, incredible, extreme!!! Thank you!!!
ah! thank you for watching and being so kind and encouraging!
@@TeamDogpit Thank you so much for performing my (extremely difficult) favorite piece from Il Barbiere di Siviglia. I still believe that your idea of performing all the pieces from "Il Barbiere" by yourself is as crazy as it is delightful, for its creativity, commitment, difficulty, and originality. It deserves to be followed by many people. Such lightness for such a heavy and boring world!
I clocked that cocky eyebrow raise Figaro gave after the first crescendo.
Brava! Very creative and expressive!
thank you! And thank you for always being so kind even though I make lots of mistakes! 😅 I have been practicing Mi par d'esser con la testa, (it is taking a long time because there are nine different vocal parts to learn!) so I will be making the video for that soon!
@@TeamDogpit you are really amazing and brilliant. I’m always looking forward to your next video! 😅 As said I think you deserves hundreds thousands of followers!!! Am I missing something? This was painful to endure.
Masterpice!
Your project is the most creative and original one I have found on RUclips so far. And it is magnificently executed and performed with great humor!
Ah! Thank you, you're so sweet! If my silly singing can make one person smile it's all worth it! :D

Oh thank you! No I am a programmer and this is just for fun!
@@TeamDogpit eclectic!
What’s your favorite part of Barbiere? And why you decided to perform on such a beautiful but technically very challenging opera? 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I have a very deep voice for a woman (my range is F1-F6 but my tessitura is between that of a baritone and a tenor) and none of the main characters of Barbiere are sopranos 😅 my favorite part is All'idea Di Quel Metallo! I like getting to see Figaro's personality against that of the Count (I also like "Dolce Nodo" for this reason hehe) what's your favorite part?
@@TeamDogpit I like many. Besides All’idea di quel metallo I particularly like A un dottor della mia sorte but especially the final of act 1
And I love Zitti zitti piano piano and Buonasera mio signore
Yes those are great! (I did Zitti Zitti Piano Piano here ruclips.net/video/MPeSAceBhSQ/видео.html !) I've been thinking of giving A un dottor della mia sorte a try, it's outside my tessitura but I think I could pull it off.

Excellent indeed!
Are you going to record "Mi par d'esser con la testa" (finale act 1)? Anyway, fantastic job!
Thanks! Yeah I plan to do the whole opera, I've just been jumping around to my favorite parts first 😅
@@TeamDogpit amazing job indeed! My favorite opera in a new dimension. Congratulations
@@arcibaldo59 thank you! I'm working on Cessa di piu resistere now, (lol ruclips.net/user/shorts7uCMfrZUu2U ) but after that I'll finish the act one finale!
@@TeamDogpit The most difficult! So difficult that many times it is skipped! Where are you from? And how do you fell with Italian (ancient Italian!)?
@@arcibaldo59 I am an American but I speak Spanish fluently. I didn't know any Italian before I started this project but it has been fun to see how it is similar and different to Spanish! Cessa di piu resistere is difficult but I have one advantage professional tenors don't -- I didn't just spend the last two hours singing the rest of the opera ha ha ha

No thumbs up yet? At least for the effort. This is brilliant Certainly the a a a a part😅. And the faces of second from the left beneath. There may be some polishing on some vocal parts, although with the first one it could be intentional?
ah yes I am a contralto; very high notes for soprano parts fall outside my tessitura 😅
