I am running my Sequoia o/s from an external drive. Here is the procedure that has been successful for me. SEQUOIA 15.3 UPDATE ON EXTERNAL DRIVE If you attempt to update to Sequoia 15.3, installed on your external drive, you will receive an error message "Requires operator input", or similar. Solution: 1.Ensure you are fully backed up and close down your Mac. 2. Press and hold down the on/off button, and eventually a window will appear with two icons. 3. Select the right handed icon and 4 Icons appear with text asking, "onto which drive do you wish to install the new O/S". 4. Select the external, (Acasis mounted drive, on my case), drive icon. 5. The new O/S will then be installed on your Mac: and my SIRI talks to me.

Hello, thank you for the tutorial. It is really helpful as I was using Airdrop before and this would last a whole day. But I still don't get the same speeds shown in your video. For example I am transfering files from my 14 inch M1 Max Macbook Pro to my new M4 Max MacBook Pro using a Thunderbolt 4 cable to connect both devices. Why is my transfer rate so slow compared to what you show in your video? Does it matter which USB C port you use on the Macbook M1 Max for the cable? Would it make a difference if I use a Thunderbolt 5 cable or would the M1 Max MacBook Pro be the limiting factor?

I am trying this with my bootcamp partition but after installing mounty it does not detect anything i have tried mounting the bootcamp partition in disk utility and also unmounting it but it still did not detect it.(macos sequoia)(intel mac)

I personally do not like macOS even if the price was the same as PC's . I bought the latest MacBook with the M4 Max chip for Christmas, but after about a week of using it, I put it away in a cupboard. To me, it feels more like an iPad for laptops and desktops. You need to purchase around 10 additional apps just to do things that Windows handles out of the box. Switching to macOS after using Windows for 30 years felt like stepping back in time to Windows 95-limited and restrictive compared to the capabilities of Windows 10 or 11. That said, with monitors becoming increasingly wide but shorter in height, macOS does have one feature I really admire: the menu bar at the top of the screen. It’s an efficient way to display the clock, system icons, and other essential tools without taking up additional vertical space. Combined with the dock at the bottom, it creates a clean and elegant design. Personally, though, I don’t use the Windows taskbar at all. Instead, I’ve configured one of the extra buttons on my mouse (via its drivers) to bring up all running applications and desktops, allowing me to quickly switch between them without relying on a taskbar. I recently uninstalled Start11 from all my Windows PCs and instead purchased MyDockFinder for £4.25, available on Steam. Paired with a free app called Quick Access Popup, I’ve created a setup that’s far more efficient and customizable. Quick Access Popup allows you to assign popup menus anywhere your mouse is, enabling you to run apps, send system hotkeys, use snippets, and much more. With this setup, there’s absolutely no chance I’ll be going back to macOS, either for work or personal use.

Nice video. I moved Photo Library to SSD. Leaving library on Mac as System library. What is easiest way to update the library on SSD? Move it to trash and redrag current mac system library to SSD. Or, just drag library from mac to ssd and it will overwrite ssd library? Thanks

It wont run on the system drive as there is security for your protection, you have to choose a folder on the disc, not the drive itself and it will work fine

Many thanks for making this video. I tried this on a brand new Macbook Air M1, 2020 computer. I was super nervous about Erasing the hard drive as I had heard some horror stories from people having problems when they had done this. I did erase the drive and followed your instructions step by step. I am very pleased to say that it all worked out well and did what it was supposed to do as per your video. A million thanks. i got the problem with my m3 pro that the genie effect gets choppy (60fps or lower) so i reseted the NVRAM, it helped, but after a few days i got the same problem, so now i am reinstalling macos, lets see if it helps
