It’s the main radio I use too for HF SSB along with my heil pr781 end fire mic. Hopefully my audio sounds well . My 1000mp doesn’t have the matching speaker but I do use a Bhi desktop with it and it sounds fantastic
Nice rig Mike. I own two of them along with the newer FT1000MP Mark V Field. Love all three of them. Only issue I ever had is when I bring it to Field Day. It doesn't have the side rejection the modern day Xcvr's have when A1 mode is operating on the same band. Any suggestions and do you have the board installed that Int'l Radio made to lower the noise floor? Great addition to the radio. The Hex beam is a fabulous antenna for limited space operations. 73 de W2BK
I am not a Ham Operator, but I have had a Yaesu FRG7 Communications Receiver for years. (Remember those?) I live in Northern NSW, Australia and I once listened to a Ham Operator down the Central Coast of NSW using one of these FT1000MP transceivers conversing with a chap in Manchester in the UK with the same model radio. They hadn't been long on the market and I thought I had never heard such great sounding SSB modulation in all my Ham radio listening before. I don't recall the band they were on, it was possibly 20 metres. It was hard to get an accurate signal strength reading from the FRG7, but it didn't matter, the NSW station was very clear of course, and the UK station was a little 'scratchy' but his voice just punched through without a problem. Amazing distance, halfway around the world. I still have the 'FROG' by the way, but haven't used it for years now.
Hi Mike just bought an FT1000MP and it has the standard fist mike and i feel it struggles with the audio punch and i register rather low on the power scale when transmitting. I noticed in your video you have the proc on full so your ALC must be rather high should i pay less attention to the ALC to get a better response to the output power level with this radio.
