Lathe Turned Cherry Branch Billy Club

I cut down a dead cherry tree the other day. There were a ton of branches, so I decided to make a Billy Club. I just started turning wood, I know I probably made many mistakes. I used a Harbor Freight Lathe. Please enjoy the video.

CHECK OUT THE DEWALT 7.5-Amp 1/2-Inch Impact Wrench with Detent Pin Anvil amzn.to/2ATGvjh I really had no use for an air impact wrench so I decided to buy an electric one. I did not want to go with the cheap ones after reading many reviews. The DeWalt DW292 was on sale at my local Lowes, so I went with it. So far it has accomplished everything I have thrown at it. I hope this video helps you wi...

Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" ruclips.net/user/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.

I like it! I just picked up a lathe from a neighbor who's downsizing his tools. I haven't tried it since high school. This should be an interesting project. I just cut some invasive buckthorn. It's maybe 4" in diameter. I'm curious--you turned you billy with green cherry? (ie, freshly cut)? Did it cause any long term problems with cracking? Cool project. I like how sleek and streamlined it looks.

I got the Bauer electric impact from HF. 450lbs torque advertised. It didn’t even struggle, knocked those F350 4door service truck lug nuts right off! I was expecting the same with that brand! And I paid $69!

*You need a cross type lug wrench in the car if you don't want to get stuck on the road✳✳>**share4.photo/pLugWrench?ㅖ** in an emergency, with frozen tight lug nuts. The way dealers and service centers tighten those lug nuts with power tools, the L shaped OEM wrenches are totally useless. Even if you muster enough force (by standing on the handle for example,) there is a good chance that you could bend or break off the stems because the force is not applied symmetrically. I like these specifically because they fold and don't take much room.*

I love what your doing, but you made one very big mistake, you forgot to bevel in the anvil and the steel plate, this is done so that you have a space to fill with the welder wich makes for a waaaay stronger weld. I have the same cheap anvil and want to do the same thing with a piece of cutting edge from a plow I have

Nice idea with the spray paint but boy oh boy did that work terribly. You'll find just a bit of mist down the spout is enough and will stick faster and dry faster giving you a clean area. Also having every edge being a step isn't useful, round one edge of the anvil and square the other. If you left a two inch strap overhang at the nose you could fit a proper sized hardy hole to it, I wouldn't bend anything hectic on it but it'd work for cutting if reinforced.

is true that actual anvils are harder than the original anvils from the past, but in some aplications a hard face anvil will produce undesired effects on the working metal piece. according to research, it was that during the industrial revolution that hardened anvils came into existence due to poor workmanship from inexperienced layman. im a mechanic who uses an anvil once in a while to fabricate parts. as such, i have several anvils. one is extremely soft and huge and heavy from the 1700s i believe. the other one is kind of in-between (hard & soft), and the last one is extremely hard which i use for specialized work on it but not to forge anything on it because it will affect production of certain components. otst, my first anvil produced higher quality results if used correctly. that stuff of test-peening your hammer on it might be good for some applications i belive, but overall, a soft face anvil will produce its desired effects according to ones expertise and purpose. generally speaking, this is a great research project applied to an experimental piece of structural steel. any how, the experiment here is excellent entertainment for the technical inclined. thanks for your time

Anyone watching this, please don't waste your time or money, everything that you could do wrong has been done here. No preheat to the anvil, no deep bevel, no root passes, doubt it was c25 (didn't see a bottle) or 308L, probably flux wire. I'm going to guess and say the 1/16th of an inch penetration you might have had in the base material delaminated the cast iron withing a few test hammer blows. You know this failed, why would you suggest to people this is a good modification?

The interesting thing is....the anvil looked brand-new...like it wasn't used This anvil has tons of reviews and videos out there saying how great it is if used properly as a small anvil...... Lots of amature blacksmiths use it on RUclips and it gets positive reviews an results. Maybe it would have served your purposes if you'd tried it before investing all this effort
