Famous Last Words
Fables are such problems. The norms they reflect or are in conversation with, depending on the time and place, are a problem. They can depict situations, depending on the circumstances, that are gruesome. They can take the quotidian to the ridiculous or terrifying, creating a world that doesn’t exist seem possible, or can’t be possible, or be possibly enviable. Or unenviable. Fables typically operate across age groups and ca...

Genevieve Feiwen Lee plays Gao Ping's "Daydreams"
Просмотров 763 месяца назад
The six-movement piano suite Daydreams was written in February and March of 2019. It was commissioned by Professor Jack Richards for the young pianist Tony Lin, who gave the world premiere in September of the same year. These pieces germinate from small and simple daily things, a bit like a musical diary. The everyday happenings, though ordinary and unimportant, nevertheless form the basic colo...
Genevieve Feiwen Lee plays Livia Malossi Bottignole's "Retaggio"
Просмотров 763 месяца назад
Retaggio came into being somewhat by chance. Looking for a suitable text for the composition, one that held personal relevance, I began delving into new books and topics only to find myself drawn to ancient paths. Exploring both familiar and unfamiliar texts, this journey crossed the works of Lara Cardella, Simone de Beauvoir, and a young Italian poet, Anna Donà. While these three authors diffe...
Genevieve Feiwen Lee plays Chris Castro's "Á la tienne!"
Просмотров 1163 месяца назад
Á la tienne! is a celebratory work, structured as a toast during a wedding ceremony. The text is a poem Guillaume Apollinaire composed for his friend André Salmon’s wedding. The work alternates two musical ideas. Long musical phrases, utilizing old church modes, stay grounded in the bass register of the piano and form the heart of the piece. Surrounding this center are light, fanfare figures re...

Fernanda Aoki Navarro is a composer of acoustic and electroacoustic music, developing concert music, intermedia works, performance art and installations. Terrific in every way.
Maybe give credit to the pianist. Wtf?
Dear William, Thank you so much for this beautiful performance! I was wondering if you could let me know where I might find the sheet music, as I would love to play it as well.
musique contemporaine trés sympa avec beaucoup d'humour...un peu le scarlatti de brooklyn !
_VA MUY RÁPIDO._
Fabulous
Astonishing execution Gloria! Goosebumps everywhere.
rest in peace, sarah gibson..... such a bright light & an amazing talent. you are deeply missed.
where is the drummer, bass player and sax player????
Great and inspiring.
Wonderful!!
brilliant and bravo! i wonder where the score can be found?

Thank you for bringing this wonderful piece to light. What I most admire about Walker is his refusal to adhere to any particular "school" or style of musical composition. He wrote whatever suited him, drawing from many sources and making them all his own. He is truly an American master.
I’m sorry but it sounds like two out of tune pianos
Beautiful! Haunting! Great homage to Cage!
Absolutely brilliant. The repeating right hand is controlled so beautifully in dynamic and in steady rhythm. It is as buttery legato as it needs to be to create that dream state. Not easy at all. That is an absolutely exhausting thing to do for that length of time. The potential for tension build up and you have none. Impressive. One of my favorite pieces as well.
Nice Vicki!
I like this bravo!
brilliant
Damn! Never heard of her, but so saddened to hear our loss.

My favorite soundtrack in this album. Listened to it daily. I finally found someone who performed this song 🫨. Beautiful
when exactly and where was this concert?
Como no me di cuenta antes de que esto existe?
My intro to Gerald was in 2004, he use to play once a month at Steamers Jazz Club in Fullerton was even blessed to see him and Gretchen Parlato duet! Wow!
.... best performance on youtube ....very like-minded, equel and precise ..... a little under tempo ... thx ... ;)
I love those. Thank you.
All I was able to see were endless commercials. I really wanted to hear his music.
Yeah Paul!!!
Fabulous playing that moves the soul!
Max Gerl!
I sight read this on my ipad 😂
A brilliant work, brilliantly performed. Exquisite.
Gorgeous music!
Ονειρικό, μαγικό, powerful, συγχαρητήρια και στους δύο 💓💓

Nice interview. Very interesting. Roger is a fantastic musician & composer! www.youtube.com/@jonnreyna1
Marvellous renfition...inspired !
Phänomenal 👋❤
My introduction to Gerald's playing was his 2007 Paris performance with Roy Hargrove of his marvellous composition Strasbourg/St Denis, in my view 12 minutes of some of the best jazz ever recorded, and the Clayton contribution is stunningly brilliant.
This is masterful, both composition and performance!
sodelicious..........................
The performance is terrific, and I really enjoy the piece. I'm sorry to have heard about Dr. Lesemann. He was my composition professor at USC in 1977-78, and was a fabulous teacher, largely because he would easily get through what you were up to in a given piece, and tell you right out what needed to be done! For one vocal piece, he said, no, what you really need here is some traveling music, which dumbly I hadn't even thought of! His approach was honest and direct, and he was knowledgeable to the point where he would immediately and almost nonchalantly understand a given situation musically. Anyway, he had a somewhat dry humor, and was a wonderful person, and my condolences to any of his family who might see this. I'm going to listen to more of his excellent music!
Is this Jazz music with oddmeters? Cool
Brilliant pianist and artist!
Awesome
