Just browsing in a cd store many years ago. I like Rossini and his magnificent mezzo-sopranos and contraltos. He really understood the depth of their power. I saw the cd :: _Ewa Podles. Rossini Arias for Mezzo-soprano._ [ NAXOS ] I never heard of her, but it was Rossini and a mezzo-soprano ... so I took a chance & purchased it. When I got home and heard her voice, I imagined the wonderful and powerful music Handel, Vivaldi and Rossini would have composed, even greater arias. I never really appreciated this aria she sings here ... I never heard her sing it until tonight (August 12, 2024). It is painfully sad and ironic ... _Remember Me !_ I finally get the message of this heartbreaking music. (She will never be forgotten.) Ewa était un miracle de musicalité, ses trois octaves, elle les mettait au service des personnages qu'elle incarnait. Ses kindertotenlieder sont à pleurer. De Vivaldi à Haendel et Strauss, rien ne démentait son pur génie. Adieu , donc et Requistat in pace aux cotés des anges
