    Have you tried the mica powders in place of the glitter.

      I haven't tried that, but I'll bet it would be fantastic! What I've used is ultra fine glitter. I love a bit of glitz, and the finer the particle, the better!

    Can you use a blow dryer?

    • @susandubois7599
      @susandubois7599 Год назад

      A blow dryer is different than heat gun. A blow dry moves a lot of air, in addition to heat, so it can move the fibers in your wetted silk sandwich. I don't know if heat (from a heat gun) will affect the acrylic textile medium--I've always just waited for it to air dry.

    Hello, can I use merinowol and silk together to fuse? What about the shrinking of the wool. Is the medium u use protecting the wool?

    Thank you. This is so interesting. I looks like silk top, not roving so I'm glad you were specific.

      you have a great eye. We do use combed silk top/sliver, but many of the people doing silk fusion are from the "quilting world" so we've called it "roving" as it's a more familiar term. And a lot fewer syllables to say over and over again, rather than "combed silk top/sliver."

    Love your videos. You are a great teacher as everything is very clear and concise. I'm not sure you realize that your hands are out of the camera range in several parts of the video. Then you say "see this" and we can't see! Would it be possible for you to check this as you film your video and move your hands up so we can actually see! Right around the logo on your apron is probably an ideal spot, although this might feel a bit awkward for you. Warmest regards...

      I appreciate your comment and feel your frustration. My video guy and I have talked about this--he has 2 cameras recording, but doesn't notice that my hands get out of range on both of them! He thinks he has a solution for the next one that we record.

    It also would be interesting to know what you are planning to make with this. You mentioned in the first recording if it was to be a journal cover you would make it thicker but this was going to be a thinner project but what will it be? Enquiring minds need to know! I look forward to what comes next.

    First time seeing any silk fusion being done. It would be interesting to see what is actually in the kit that you are using. Or mention what is in it. Love the colours you chose to work with.
