And finally (sorry for multiple comments), to answer your question regarding the monk skills. Basically, they are all the same, no hidden benefits or anything, it's just extra DPS. Just use the most recent skill, and eventually you'll get flying kick, that is the highest level kick, it won't be as powerful as a rogue BS, but it's still significant, on p99 anyway my flying kick and do up to 130 damage at its best

  • @choosetolivefree
    @choosetolivefree 4 часа назад

Also, my main for a long time on p99 was a monk, one of two of the first chars I made on p99. It's my 2nd favorite class to play behind enchanter. It's much, much more interesting than a rogue. Rogues will just sit and DPS. Occasionally you get to open a lock or maybe do some corpse dragging (which monks also excel at). Other than that, not much going on. Monks, on the other hand, will be the groups puller. So you have the rogue and everyone else just staying in camp. While the monk is roving all over the places looking for mobs to pull. You'll get to see and go places where the others won't. And you're never ever just standing there doing nothing

Oh, this server will not even get close to p99's longevity. That server has been online for like 20 years at this point. I started playing p99 in like 2012 or so. And it's still going strong

Blackburrow is the best newbie dungeon, but the level spread is odd and sporadic. Making it so once youre in the low teens you have to run through all over to find dark blues to fight, or just sit at the elite/commander camps. So yeah its super fun to start with and crawl your way down in the under 10's, then not much past 10 you're just over it, and want something new. And people don't like grouping in WK cause that means less phat lewt bandit sashes for them if they have to share with you :p

qeytoqrg - Qeynos to Qeynos Ranger Guild qey2hh1 - Qeynos to Highpass Hold 1 (West Karana) I think Qeynos hills and West Karana were some of the first zones they put in and had a unique naming style, they must have realized it would be a headache and went more simple for the rest 😄

It stands for Qeynos to Qeynos Ranger Guild. I think they started building the game from Qeynos and that's why it has some odd map names. West Karana is "qey2hh1" or "Qeynos to Highhold 1," but they must've decided to change it because instead of calling North Karana qey2hh2, it's just "northkarana."

I'm not sure if /autofire works in the client or on the server, however. Hahahaha... Project Faceless. The Faceless crowd have been a nuisance since at least the Vulak era TLPs. They're usually lead by Protocol aka ZaideGod on RUclips. Zaide's actually a cool guy, but it's typically a zerg guild full of asshats that can't get into any decent guild.

This was such a great video! I;m sad that I ran into it 4 years late, but happy that I did! Back when EQ was live my best friend told me about a war between the giants and dwarfs and thought nothing of it, other than silly game lore. But it goes waaaaaaaaay deeper than that, if I only knew about that back then I would have probably been more into EQ than I was. I hope you're able to make more lore videos in the future!

If you like playing an MMO like a busy hands on action game Bard is amazing. My favorite class by far in EQ. You can cast spells while running. You have access to a range of diverse and useful abilities. You can solo fast and easy all the way up (DoT kiting, then Charm Kiting). You do run into problems indoors with the loss of speed song. But you can get J Boots ("Journeyman's Boots") or Traveler's Boots to get some speed back indoors. And that should be enough.

Cazic Thule had a great experience modifier, was a hub for a lot of quest drops, and the cash loot (plat, fine steel, gems) is pretty great. It's not even very far out of the way, being next to a druid port, having a built-in wizard port, and being next to several popular spots for grinding or farming. It just had two flaws that are fatal when combined; lots of dense and roaming mobs, and lots of healing mobs. As your footage shows, you can end up getting lizards piled all over you with like three of them healing all of their friends, each other, and themselves. And while mob's mana isn't infinite, it's close enough. While an enchanter or bard can make this easy enough, it's just an extra hassle that can very quickly spiral into lost XP and a long corpse run. Similar flaws killed the original Splitpaw lair (i.e., the one before the Tesch Val-type gnolls) and Kerra Isle. Though neither of those had the perks going for them that Cazic Thule did. Also the reason Rubicite was removed is because it was literally the best AC armor you could get besides endgame (Lguk / SolB) stuff, and was wearable by every chain and plate class. Rogues, Shaman, Ranger, etc. could all wear it. And so every spawn that dropped it was overcamped, loot fights and griefing were rampant, and in the end everyone was just walking around looking like tomatoes. So Verant removed the Rubicite, and replaced it with Class Quest Armors (Totemic, Lambent, etc), as well as adding Fine Steel Plate to blacksmithing, and then replaced the CT rubicite drops with ravenscale (rogue-only stuff)

Not a Qeynos fan at all. Surefall was good but I would have done Neriak, Kelethin, and Misty Thicket Higher personally. But good list but as a originall Troll Shaman I loved how easy Grobb was and Innothule Swamp had all of the mid and high levels going to UGuk and LGuk so you got free buffs and even rezzes then you could head to Sro and Oasis it really was good. Just my Opinion but hey it also got pushed out when Sony found out about it being made so a lot was not flushed fully out when it was released.

Library chanter mobs will Tash first, usually an AoE Tash, then will charm/mez. They will drop aggro and walk away when you get mezzed. Pull away from where they spawn and you’ll be ok. Otherwise things can, and will, get very ugly. Some folks go up to the fourth floor and get rabies from the mummies (lasts over an hour and does very little damage), which is great for breaking their mez. I don’t believe the students charm or mez. The scholars definitely charm/mez. I’m not sure which of the mobs dispel, but something there definitely does. Always pull with a dispel and mobs are easy to kill. Always Tash the mobs or expect tons of resists. Charm is definitely doable in the library area, just stay near the mirror to the third floor and keep Gate up. The armored shadows on the third floor make great pets. If you find one that keeps resisting charm, that is the mob that will turn into the key mob when it dies. They are mezzable if you need to hold them. Don’t charm a mob from one floor to bring into another floor. They will not port to the floors with you. They will instead take some unknown invisible path to where you are, usually aggroing and pulling half the zone with them. I’ve seen power leveling groups do this to pull bunches of mobs to their leveling spot. You’ve been warned.

40:13. You can easily find out how much mana you have. Just cast a spell and take note of how much of a percentage your mana drops, then look at the mana cost of the spell, then divide the mana cost by the percentage. Let's say CH takes 40% of your total mana, that gives you 1000 mana on the dot. 400/0.4=1000. In this case since you showed the numbers, you have 1,379 mana. But remember in a previous post I made that you only need to heal 933 health to be as efficient as Sup Heal, so what you need to do is find out how much buffed HP your tank has, then get 60% of that value (933/0.6=1555). Conventional wisdom says to start CH at 40%, so as long as the tank has 1555 health or more then you should be using CH on them. It's not really until getting Complete Heal that HP buffs become really important outside of caster situations since you can't mitigate nukes quite the same way as physical attacks, especially on tanks. Every HP buff you can give the tank will make CH that much more efficient as time goes on. Prior to CH, AC buffs are what really matter, again, outside of caster mobs since mitigation is generally better than health in that regard.

I'm aware this was recorded last year, but to your rant about AA's: AFAIK this is non-trivial to fully disable. They can be disabled on the server side but the client still supports AA's because it is on EQ Titanium (or whatever other Luclin+ client) so the AA window exists and can be opened since the client is intended for newer expansions. Working around this requires both a custom UI that hides AA buttons/windows and either an older client that isn't aware of AA, or a DLL injection - similar to what P99 does - to disable client-side features that the server wants to restrict. In this case Quarm *does* technically support AA's on both the client and server side, since they will eventually be available, even though they are not allowed yet. The closest you can get to disabling AA's is to edit the UI files to remove buttons that open the AA window and clear out the keyboard shortcut that brings up the AA window.

The developer that created Guk is Geoffrey Zatkin. Guy's a legend. The zone was originally just one zone, but due to available resources on computers at the time they had to break it into two. He was also the lead systems designer and is responsible for the entire spell system that we know and love, including the concept behind crowd control. Also, you only need to heal 932hp or more to beat Superior Healing. It's funny because of how the old spell ratios were done, CH is even more efficient compared to Sup Heal on P99 than it is on live after the revamp which requires around 1300hp to beat the efficiency of Sup Heal. Chitin is pronounced 'kite-en".

lol. I don't know the exact mechanics for charm on P99 as they've done so many weird things it's hard to keep track, but never, ever give a charm pet two weapons on live. It will only make it so that on break it will be able to quad you, and won't really help you at all unless there are procs or the weapons have good stats. Procs in off-hand have half the chance to proc as the main-hand so it's moot for that too.

Enjoyed the video! Nice to see quests I didn't know about. I'm new to the game and enjoying this double xp event. Like you said, most people have been very kind and helpful to a new player. My first group had some scary jerks though. No one explained to me you aren't suppoed to loot No Drop items, but roll on them. I felt bad I messed up. But the whole group yelled at me, kicked me, and petitioned a GM to punish me or something. I was so confused, and now I'm scared to group in case I break more rules I don't know about. I hope most groups are nice.

I'm terrified of the fact you can lose ALL your items if you die in a dungeon, so I skip those and stick to the safer open world zones. It's funny -- I've never played an MMO without an automatic loot roll or even basic things like explaining what your spells do -- haha that's wild! -- and making you go to websites to see. But it's a nice chill pace that great for mostly-afk gaming.

@@briann6710 necro is great to start off. Once you get about 24, it's all pretty gravy until the 50s. Grouping can be fun-maybe try some duos, necros are pretty solid partners as most classes just make the fear kite go down faster. If ya need help or anything, send a tell to Garbp, that's my druid. Id be happy to explain stuff!

Oh man, the whiplash of going from the much slower pace of Janes's 1 level a video playthrough to starting a monk and then episode 2 starts with a "welcome to blackburrow." Excited to watch this faster paced series of Zanes. Thanks for the content!

I once had a surname so foul that the server's head GM-Admin summoned me... Good times! 1500/400 server population ain't bad, that's about what mine was back in the day.

Ooooh so that's why you stopped uploading P1999 videos? You are playing on Quarm! Are you still playing on there? Also I sent you an email, but you never responded. It was about the possibility of trying out one of the custom servers on the EQemu network, Dalaya, which just (re)launched a few weeks ago.

Skills have different effects, as in kick does a snare I think, while round kick has a stun effect. I'm not an expert but you need to research what each does.( appearently this dosen't take effect until you get AA points )

I started on launch, i had a barbarian warrior, and everfrost was brutal. I ran to gfay, and it was much better(except no armor was large). The entire Cabilis breakdown had me dying.
