Hmm, there was that time when Haruka made a fus and let my hair down. She said I looked like a defeated soldier. Looking at myself in the mirror like this, as much as it pains me to say it, she might not be so far from the truth. Nevertheless, this hair has some strange persuasion to go to the wrong side or something. *sigh* Maybe the cause is my natural features after all. Ah, but if I smile a little... *kira* Hnn, why does the intensity of my expression just increase? Being able to only produce this awkward smile kind of brings me down... Good grief, Haruka really piles on the compliments, but I’d like to know how I’m supposed to accept them like this! My looks were given to me at birth, so it’s not like I’m really upset. My eyes look a little meaner than most so its easy to get the wrong impression. Sometimes a guy in my grade will suddenly apologize without me saying anything to him, or a girl in a lower grade will get scared of me for no reason. That’s all. That’s all, right? To be frank, if I worry about my looks too much, it becomes hard to appear in front of people, and I’ve had trouble with it in the past, but for now at least, I think I’m fine. I at least give them a bitter smile as they retreat, and I no longer avert my eyes when looking into a mirror. After all, I did meet someone who literally blew my troubles away with a smile. She was a girl I met right after entering high school. She had an innocent face and the style of a model, turning everyone’s head. However, once I looked past her grown up exterior, I found she was tomboysih, selfish, moody, indecisive, and if teased a little bit would get shy, upset, and run away. She was like a little sister! She was a shy girl who confided in me her love of cute things. Instead of looking at me and being afraid she gave me a smile. A slightly strange girl. Fufu~ Well maybe not just ‘slightly’ strange! Just being around her makes you think ‘what’s it going to be today?’ Really, she is troublesome! *sigh* Oh yeah, today’s lunch break was crazy too.. Haruka was going to tease that boy but I didn’t expect her to get me involved. … I don’t think it’s something like that.. Hmm... Like I could say “Onii-chan” or “Okaeri ni”, everything has its limits.. let alone “Onii-chan, daisuki!” or something. I bet I’ll never say that my whole life. Rather I’m never hoping for a chance to say that. However, thanks to that incident I was treated to a delux lunch set. Lucky, eh? I guess being treated by a younger boy couldn’t really be helped then. fufu~ His face when he realized he was the one treating us! ufufu~! Just remembering it makes me laugh. Au.. ufufu~! Honestly this style doesn't fit the song. The song is about breaking free of chains and learning to fly with damaged wings. That isn't a song for as gruff-sounding a man as Endoh Masaaki. I mean he has a good voice, it just doesn't go with the song. Really the most fitting version is the tri. version. It's light, airy, and happy. This is just a bit off from the mood the song is trying to convey. Also it bugs me that he got the two instrumentals the wrong way round. It's the high note first, then the low note riff. That annoys me to no end.
Why tho? Breaking free, achieving new heighs and screwing your limits is basicaly manly as hell and is not uncommon for mecha anime, where Masaaki's voice works extremely well. Surely the image and feeling of the song is changed, but it would be sad and boring if every cover and rearrange would be literaly the same song.
