Brickmania Bell P-39 Airacobra Brick Built History Ep. 36
Probably one of the strangest aircraft to come from America, the P-39 seems to have a polarizing status in certain countries, hated by US and British pilots, but absolutely loved by the Soviets. Why is this reputation so separated on the scale? Well I’ll dive into that and more as we look into Brickmania’s well made rendition of the P-39.

Instruction please
this is a very nice plane, can you give a photo of the instructions from it?
@@ВладимирГомелев-е7б sorry but I’m not willing to give or sell instructions that are not mine
@@F0KK3RM4Nthanks for the answer, I understand you
Hey would you ever be planning to sell this?
Does anyone have the parts list for the red baron version? I built the black version!
Fokkermaaan where are uuuu
I moved to Japan and had to leave all my lego back in America, but hopefully will be back to it soon
@F0KK3RM4N wow, thats quite epic, hope everything worked/works fine there for you!
We’re did you go FOKK3M4N!
You have the tail wheel situation backwards. The -60R, J, T, F and Bs are the only ones with the tail wheel inboard for maneuvering on deck. Almost every other S-70 family member has the traditional tail wheel that the MH-60S has
The F-35, especially the C is trash af but the kit is solid. Mine is in VFA-101 markings That said, the F-35C is also utilized by the Marines. The AGM-88 that they’re integrating into the -35 is essentially a completely different missile, the same only in name. It’s interesting really. The A-7 and the F-8 were both used for a long time. The F-8 was in use for 30 years from 1957-1987 and the A-7 was used for 24 years from 1967-1991. It’s important to note that the F-35C is only replacing the Legacy Hornet, F/A-18ABCD. The Super Hornet will be replaced eventually by the F/A-XX program’s successor program. It’s important to note that the Super Hornet is still built and bought. The Block III F/A-18EFs will be coming out in the next five years for full production and include numerous upgrades to keep the airplane relevant. The idea that there is no need for ‘stealth’ airplanes on a carrier deck directly contradicts the idea that we should continue to use the Super Hornet for everything as it is a 4.5 generation fighter and features an incredibly reduced cross-section (RCS/RXS.) The Legacy Hornet is incredibly old for what it is, it needed to be replaced badly. The Growler is not the same core platform, neither are the F/A-18 that tank, as the Legacy Hornet so those jobs are safe. The MQ-25 Stingray isn’t built by Lockheed, it’s built by Boeing and it has an incredible commonality with the F/A-18 Super Hornet. The F/A-18F is arguably significantly more useful than the single seater. A study by the Marines in the 1990s determined that two seat airplanes have significantly higher rates of success in ground attack and are safer in use for FastFAC while also having lower rates of blue/blue and inefficiency.
W. O. W! The camouflage is incredible! Great video!
Awesome video! Also thank you for your service!
I still remember when BKM included string to connect the cockpit to the tail
This drives me crazy right now. Look at 6:53. The right tracks of the sherman on the right have a big seperation to the hull. A way to big one. My Kit also has that and kits from all other reviews of this kit have it aswell but it makes no sense since both sides are identical. I don't understand it and I have to say I fell like the tracks and the front lower hull fragile. Every time I roll this thing on its tracks the front lower armor plate sperates itself from the front hull is that the same for your models? Really curious because ei have been trying to find a solution for a long time.
just started building mine and noticed the same gap on the right tracks, no idea what causes this but I think they're all like this have you tried emailing brickmania? maybe they have an answer
@@Idublovestep no I haven't mailed them. But I did find a solution. You need 2 more of the frontal track-gears Wich you can easily buy on Bricklink (the ones with the sticker on them.) you put the long pin holding that gear in backwards, then put the gears (4 in total (each side 2)) with their back facing each other on the pin, track on and they look really good. I hope I could explain this good, but I also might make a Instagram story about it, and then I can send the link of the Instagram story in there replies here so you can see it as well (I'm not saying this for self-promoting purposes) tell me if you didnt understand something!
Flimsiest brickmania build ever, the wings ALWAYS fall off as well as the landing gear doors, so annoying. The thing breaks if you look at it too hard
Make an update!
bruh its a nice plane but it cost so much like 260
Yeah the aftermarket for it is quite expensive, so are a lot of BKM kits though
Yay finally you uploaded something again :D I thought about buying the P39 for a long time now, (there's still some on brickizimo) so this video will help me with my decision, thanks!
Glad to help with that, it’s quite study and not that difficult to build, plus you have the choice of American or Soviet which is nice
@@F0KK3RM4N I miss your videos man. Do you think you'll do some new ones?
The top ace was Heric Hartman
Yeah I know, I just forgot it lol, Erich Hartmann is pretty well known, but for some reason Gunther Rall is the most popular to me
When are you doing new videos?
@@danielr.2890 well been pretty busy as of late, but I got this weekend free so we’ll see
Dude do you have to pay someone to build these or something. why dont you build them on camera. If i could super dislike this i would 2/10 review. *GROW UP!*
Thanks pal, now you’re not invited to by birthday party, your loss
Not as huge,in one haul you outnumber my tank collection
Yeah now I got probably 30-40 tanks lol
Only if this is was a kit
Unfortunately I think it might be a little bit too unknown of an aircraft for someone to build kits of it, but I do love my Pfalz, and it’s a pretty easy modification from the Albatros D.III
The f35 will replace only the Hornets, the super hornets will be replaced by the f/a-xx in 2030
Well VFA-147 went from Supers to F-35’s, the last Hornet squadron was converted to Supers in 2019, basically it will be like when the navy originally went from Hornets to Supers, having a hodgepodge of 35s and 18s, changing one squadron at a time as aircraft become available
The Jagd Panther that I made is short 2 studs wide so the brickmania tank would be a bit big then mine
back it at again. nice video
He’s back
Yeeeees a new video! Do you have the He 111 H16 from Brickmania? Would love to see a video about that, incase you got one. Nice modifications on the Albatros!

@@F0KK3RM4N oh okay. Thanks for the update. better a equipment is def a good thing also. Looking forward seeing you again hopefully soon then.
@@Rula2020 thanks, I know I want to have videos for the Val and Oscar I’ve been working on some time soon, and there’s definitely a lot of BKM and BV kits I got to do as well
@@F0KK3RM4N looking forward for all those. Did you get F/A-18 from BV by any chance?
@@Rula2020 I did, but I’m waiting on my personalized printed pieces to come in lol
Thanks for serving our great country. Awesome haul, I am also addicted to Brickmania.
I saw you reviewed both the Tiger 1 and the Spitfire Which one do you prefer, and which one is more worth the price tag?
Well the Spitfire definitely is more space filling, and cheaper if I remember correctly, it is a good build though, and the Tiger I is quite beefy and strong, but when it comes between tanks and planes usually the plane is a better bang for the buck, which I think is true here, Tiger is still a great kit, but the Spitfire is better priced for more
I like the fact that every video has an interesting story! Which one of these kits do you suggest to buy: Yak-3, Bf.109E or Hurricane Mk I?
Thanks, I try to find interesting history of everything I buy, sometimes I already know it but a lot of times I am surprised at what is found, and on the kit to buy, I honestly like the Hurricane more of the 3, has more interesting techniques and is an extremely solid build, I don’t think it has broken once on me, and looks really good too
@@F0KK3RM4N thanks for your advice! Would be great to see a history video about P-38 sometime in the future. Also I recommend you to get Brickmania’s Macchi C.202 Folgore if you haven’t already. Relaxing building techniques but the plane itself is a very slick looking thing!
@@denism9512 oh I already got the Folgore and built it lol, needed some Italian planes, also just bought the Swordfish that I’ve needed for a while, one of my favorite under appreciated planes of the war
@@F0KK3RM4N Swordfish has magnificent color scheme but it’s a bit too pricey for me as I’m saving for a ‘Red Tail’ P-51 by BV and a Hawker Typhoon by BKM. Unfortunately I’m too poor to afford every single plane lol. Also I wonder which kit is more sturdy: Aichi D3A1 or Cody’s latest F6F Hellcat? I mean...gravity still exist and I’m not sure if dihedral will still be there.
@@denism9512 well I got the Hellcat, and the dihedral stays when the gear is up, but does droop a bit with the gear down, as for the Val I’ve been making my own and didn’t buy the BKM one yet, maybe when it restocks, but yeah I bought the Swordfish because I’ve always wanted it and I’ve gotten pretty friendly with the designer, and he does good work too, also helped him design his F-18 since it’s my specialty from working on them for 6+ years now
Hey, do you have any tips on how to put on the stickers from the canopy correctly? I tried to do it as good as possible, and I can't complain about the result but it's not perfect. I had to do it twice since it was soo extremely hard and they are so fragile.
I just use the brick separater tool to apply the stickers, allows me a stable way to guide it onto the proper locations
What do you think about Brickveteran's p51D mustang?
I definitely like the fuselage and dihedral, wing looks a little chunky to me but won’t have a good opinion until I build it myself
i got this kit it is so cool
Just a question: how much did you pay for it?
575 on auction, bit of a buy on repulse, but now I got it so oh well
@@F0KK3RM4N nice. I would try to buy one but most of the ones I have seen are off of some sketchy websites and the others are way out of my budget. I am hoping for Brickmania to release the instructions, as they are working to release digital instructions for some of their retired kits.
@@randomwarthunder8062 I did see the Merkava is going digital soon, honestly I like the idea, hopefully the Mosquito gets the same because I still am trying to get that, but yeah the Corsair is so wanted it’s difficult to get it cheap
@@F0KK3RM4N seeing the maus would be awesome too...

Hands down best looking U.S Navy aircraft, the inverted gull wings really gives it that iconic look.
Absolutely, especially with the other ones looking really chubby lol
@@F0KK3RM4N Yeah lol

Yeah it is a lot, but also a massive kit, and looks really good too, but yeah not everyone has the ability to get it
I'm getting the parts to build the ki-84
I have the older white box version.
Good review. This is one of the kits I still want to get at some point.
There’s an earlier version on eBay currently, but it’s really expensive, although I do enjoy this one a lot, very sleek
epic kit for sure! lucky that you were still able to get it

@@Rula2020 oh you bet, was an amazing experience
Nice I love this kit wish I got it
It really is beautiful, can’t go wrong with the Corsair lol
6:18 really nice pictures! For some reason I have never seen a ww2 aircraft in real life, I wanted to do that last year but suddenly corona existed and was like nah, you have to wait.
Thanks, it was in formation with the planes from my squadron and we went and got a really in-depth look in it, technically it’s a Korean War model but you know, semantics lol
Honestly, the f6f hellcat is just as good looking as the Corsair imo
I mean the Hellcat is thicc, the Corsair is slick lol
I've got one of these bad boys, I love it....I think Achtung Bricks 109 design is alot better looking then Brickmania's, because Achtung Bricks looks less blocky, just my 2 pennies
It does look really good, only thing is my canopy doesn’t like the pilot helmet on the head, which it’s totally possible I messed something up, but it’s really solid and doesn’t feel like it’ll break at all
@@F0KK3RM4N...I didn't have a problem with my pilot, he's got his flying cap on....sometimes I find Lego finicky
@@murray1943 yeah, I tried leaning him back, but oh well, I’m not too worried about it, still an awesome kit lol
