I tried to surf in Vietnam in the water was so polluted that I got sick there's so much trash in the beach that you might get cut on your foot if you walk

The banks look exactly the same as in 2016. Amazing, suprisingly good waves straight out the front of our hotel. I didn't expect it at all. Some great overhead days, some sets in the 8 foot range. Not the power of open ocean waves but damn fine shape and hardly anyone out. This was in November 1st-31st 2016. There would have been only 5 too small to ride days in the whole month. Definitely a good surf/food/adventure holiday, in surf season. Cheap hotels, cheap motorbike hire but board hire is expensive and boards can be shitty.

Many many sandbanks from Hoi An to Son Tra yet everyone surfs the An Thuong area. Baffling.

if you are smart, you wont tell anyone where this is. if you do, you will show up some day and there will be 10 german sup's out dropping in on everybody, blowing waves, and losing their boards right in front of you on every set that comes through. there is already one sup out there, and one sup is one too many, so be careful.
