I really wanted to challenge myself to do this in one take as opposed to cutting individual videos. I had to walk over every couple of minutes to keep the motion activated lights on. I also included an excerpt of the piece I intend to play for the WGI solo contest. Feedback on that would definitely be appreciated!

Found this on my phone. I guess I didn't upload it at the time cause I thought the angle was boring. Now I'm old and I don't care. Long live the bloopit babyyy

sheesh
So glad I randomly stumbled across this. As a fellow musician this is not only impressive, but beautiful.
do you think salad fingers would need mallets to play the marimba?
Man, you are impressive. Your sense of time, rhythm and awareness is simply on point. If you are planning on perusing a career in music, I know you are going to be successful. Looking forward to seeing more from you!
I miss those old soundproof rooms at my junior college. Learned piano in them :)
Nice job!
what did the drum major say at 1:37 those six words are something something
How do you make those ridiculous runs look so easy?! And why are you so hot?!?! 😩😵
Holy chops
Flicker was so interesting! It's sad the season got cut short :/
hey will there be a 2019 bluecoats marimba cam?
I always come back to watch this show just because the idea of cleaning the runs of a pit this far apart amazes me. I can’t imagine it.
2:40 and 6:10 to the end!! I'm so glad there is a marimba cam!!
Lil uzi?
Yalready know
Hello! I was able to watch your semi's performance at UD in almost the front row. You gave a great performance and were very inspiring. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world :)
Thanks so much man!
great video
didn't you end up making bluecoats that year anyway lol
Yeah after a looooooot of practice
you wont post 2018 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Freaking amazing
Good Work Front. Really love that opening lick
You gotta teach me this dude
Do you have any other recordings of this show for marimba you could upload I’d love to hear more especially without the weird audio
Symphony Sorry homie, this is the only video I took all season.
Did you graduate HighSchool in 2016?
Ryan I graduated in 2017 actually.
Ahhh that light. Shiny
Love the second movement. Who wrote this?
pit arranger is iain moyer! awesome dude.
Thanks, Justin! The pit sounds awesome here!
Those cymbals sound great!
Jason Frith I have to admit I was confused at first
What camp are you auditioning at this year?
caleb benton Texas
Michael Rodriguez do you guys really do poprocks variation 2 in every key
Yeah haha. It's pretty tough at first, but I felt like playing lockjaw in tons of keys was the easiest way for me to get comfortable with everything. After I felt a little more solid on the shapes of all keys I started trying to play tougher keys with poprocks. It'd be great for you to learn as many as you can, but don't feel too discouraged if a couple keys still trip you up! It takes time to get comfortable!
lol hope you make it!
I'm the section leader for the pit in our band, and I'd love to get any advice I can get from you for being a leader. I want to make the section fantastic, some things just don't work out. Anything?
Hey bro. I've been lucky enough to have some awesome guys as my section leaders and I've definitely taken lots of inspiration from them. I feel like at the end of the day, all you can really do is be the best that you can be. This not only means being able to play your stuff at the highest level possible, but treating your friends with the highest level of love and respect possible. Things can get pretty tough and tense sometimes, but if you hang out with your homies and treat them with lots of respect, I think you guys will become much closer. Plus, people will be more inclined to follow your lead and get on your level if they already look up to you and like you as a person. I would say don't worry too much about super specific things like technique, and care mostly about bringing everyone up and having a good time! Hope this helps man.
Do you need world class experience to march here or can you make it if you open class experience because I plan on auditioning next summer (2018) for drum set
skydrop I'm fairly positive you can march straight out of high school. I know that 2 or 3 current pit members at Bluecoats came to Bluecoats straight out of high school or while they were still in high school like Michael.
no experience needed technically, but that doesnt mean its easy to make it
whats the toilet flushing sound when you play your cymbal??
Alex Last go pro audio...
Drummer J Oh I see😂😂
5:25 nice view of Ben Gunnarson lol. Wonderful playing by you.
What was the earbud for?
Nick Gendron They just helped us hear each other really clearly and accurately from far away without sound delay
Michael Rodriguez l
Nice
everything is so bright man, but great playing
My boy
Winterline!! I miss those days so much..... playing for films & commercials just isn't the same.
it's edible
Hey good job! We play Sharton for warmups at my high school too, I would be crazy not to recognize it. Good Luck!
Thanks!
Man that center marimba is a real beefy meat-and-cheese hungry-mans kind of player
Could you do a time video?
Dude. Sick!
