1st Gen Monte Carlo Club get together
Is Mister Cortez's Impala feeling jealous yet?
That thing has been sitting in the garage with popped tires for 10 years or so. I've been trying to get him to get it back on the road. LOL!
Are you a member online of the First Generation Monte Carlo Club? I just joined and posted pics on new members. Club name Trhbub.
Yes sir I am a member I'll check out your pics.
Huh,40 yrs ago when I hotroded my 72 Monte Carlo, every one laughed at me. Too many chevelles and darts and mustangs around. I guess I was too cool back then. 😂
I added some videos of my car just recently. If you have time check it out!
Cool! I absolutely will check it out.
Can’t wait to see your seats covered! I had mine done using PUI upholstery. Wish I would’ve went with cloth and vinyl like an original. My 70 Monte had cloth bench seat and it was really nice to sit on !
I purchased the Dakota Digital gauges to, the VHX series’s silver and blue. It’s installed in my dash now but not in the car yet. I did purchase a new dash and pad, hopefully they go together good.! 🤞🏻
Cool!
As to 2"-3" too high in the back, that was the big debate whenever a younger person got a Monte Carlo or any muscle car back in the day. That and how wide and big to go on the rear tires.
Yes sir I remember!
So, when you said, "A lot of money," was that like dinner and movie, or a weekend getaway? ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxmsYJSBVFFXmtOSLZj-2PGnWu3C7oRHSh?si=FLKN4cKCgexEZ04y
It was more like two tickets to Disneyland and dinner there! 🤣
Looking good. Just wondering what’s your 9 to 5? I just retired from mine, 36 years with power company.
Nice! I work for Siemens.
Those are on wrong
Looking good.
Thank you!
Ronnie did you know that shroud you have been welding is available at OPG.
Yes, but trying to remove the tunnel and reinstall would be a royal pain. I'd rather pick up the whole piece which are hard to come by.
Hello sir, on your door paneling, does your mirror have a remote that controls the mirror from inside the car? it's on the driver's side.
Yes sir! I will be installing my mirror soon and will try cover that as well.
@@weekendgarage3299 Great! I WILL BE WATCHING. Please specify where you got themirror from. OPGI don't sale it any more. In there 2008 catologe it's was called, "Mirrors, 1970-72 Chrome Remote." It's not in their 2024 catologe.
@@ronniewortham3260 The mirror came with the car. Give Konics Klassics a call they may have what you need.
Great videos, I've been working on a 74 Javelin lately. Did you finish your Javelin? I saw video 20 and it seems like the water in the transmission was all fixed.
Cool! I have my Javelin in storage at the moment and plan on getting back on it around March or April (when the Monte Carlo is completed). Yes sir I was able to get the water in the transmission problem identified and fixed. Good luck on your project. I really like Javelins.
💯💯💯👍✌
Are there going to be any updates on the javelin project?
I will be paying the Javelin a visit soon. I had made a video of me putting it in storage but never posted it. Man I really love that car. My hope is to get back on it around February or March.
Leave the stance
Got our 72 back…front end is too high. What is you ride height, floor to top of wheel well front and back?
My front is 25 1/4" and the back is 27 1/2".
Hey, very good videos. Where did you get your GRILLE from? I need to get one for my 71.
I picked it up from a First Gen Monte Carlo club member. I still have my original grill that is in pretty good condition.
Would you consider selling it? And could I see a picture of it if you're selling it.
@@ronniewortham3260 I may end up selling it. I haven't decided if I want to let it go. Where are you located?
I think you installed those floor plugs upside down.
I thought that too before installing them but that's how my existing plugs are installed.
Are you not going to use the spatter paint in the trunk?
I don't think so. The body shop sprayed Lizard Skin in the trunk.
The new trunk lock bezel can use the same barrel nuts for attachment that the original bezel used. They are also used for the Monte Carlo scripts on the sail panels. Barrel nuts aren't actually what we typically know as nuts. They just push into a sheetmetal hole, and then the part just pushes into the nut.
The springs will be easy to change, but you'll have to have the car completely assembled, spare tire and jack included, before you'll know how the stance will be. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the insight and advice Dan!
I agree. With no glass, interior, and whatever else you might add - stereo amps, subs, fuel tank, battery… You don’t know.
I like the stance on your monte.
Exhaust was installed last week on our 72. Get the new 8” rally wheels with new caps and bands with a front end alignment and we’ll be on the road.
Sweet! Enjoy. 😎😎
Car looks great Ronnie!
Thank you sir!
Before to long yours will be out there !!! 🏆
Can't wait!
That’s my Dad’s 70s Monte Carlo. 😊
Cool! It's a very nice car.
I love seeing Monte Carlo’s at local car shows! Can’t wait to finish my 70!
Great job! It's coming along very well! You did right with the black screws.
Thank you Dan! I appreciate all of the input that you have given me.
Definitely coming along and taking shape. It’s nice when you can get new NOS or decent aftermarket parts that work and fit right! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 videos you make !
Thank you sir!!
I'd yank the pos 454 boat anchor and put a 455 rocket in it. Or the 455 pontiac. Best two engines out of GM
No thanks..🤣 This Monte has a Vortec Pro built 467 dyno'd at 605HP/605LBS TQ on pump gas..
@@weekendgarage3299 so where's the power?
What you smokin'?
@@danjanes8689 usually tires and axels
Didn't realize there was a club for Monte Carlos ... what's a real SS454 worth today all there in fair shape?
For that question I would suggest asking on the First Gen Monte Carlo Club website forum. www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/homepage
Any time brother I’m so excited to see this car finished I appreciate your videos to put the care in to that car it’s deserve only the best god bless
It was a productive weekend for me. I finally completed the front suspension on my 70 monte carlo.
Cool!
My first comment disappeared????
Car looks beautiful bro keep up the good work had lots of them
Thank you sir!
I still got lots of parts for Monte Carlo’s a couple grills gauge clusters I got the famous barrel fan shroud tail lights 1970thru 72 head light frames and buckets trim rings and four rally sender caps all oem parts I just need a body and frame would love to have another one some day they always rusted in the back floor pans bottom of the fenders in the back then the frames would rust out by the rear axle arms I’ll never for get the pull handle to pop hood them putting the gas in behind the license plate love them old cars
Cool!
Looking good sir! Love the look of the monte rear end
Thank you! Yes the rear end looks pretty sweet.
Our 72 is having exhaust installed. Getting close to getting it on the road. Replaced all the trim except the trim on the rear below the trunk. Can’t find reproduction anywhere. Any tips on how to polish it?
Did you try OPG? I bought my rear trim from them. Also there are a lot of good metal polishes out there give one a try. One of my videos shows me hand polishing a piece of trim.
@@weekendgarage3299 Can’t find it for a 72.
Hello sir, I've been watching your vids, and I very much enjoy watching them. I have a '71 myself but it will never look as good yours. Your hood ordament. Did you had to drill the hole for it or did yours already have it? Or do you have a "How to do it" video installing it?
Thanks for watching my channel I really appreciate it. My hood had the provisions for the ornament. One of my videos shows me installing it.
@@weekendgarage3299 Hey thanks for your response. Do you know which video it was showing youself installing it?
@@ronniewortham3260 yes sir check out video #52.
@@weekendgarage3299 Thanks, will do.
good job Ronnie.
Thank you!
I'm using the exact wire loom on the fuel lines on my 70 monte
💯💯💯👍✌
It’s coming along really nice!! Seeing where you put the hyper spark box, I’m assuming the car will never see rain !! 🤞🏻
The box itself is weatherproof. However there is an inner fender shield that will also prevent water from splashing on it. Thanks for bringing that up I'll clarify that on my next video.
CAN YOU ACCEES IT IF YOU TAKE THE INNER FENDER OUT?
Yes that would be easy access but then I would need to deal with taking off the hood and re-aligning the fender. Too much trouble in my opinion.
@@weekendgarage3299 not to pull the inner fender
Way to much work. There's other ways.
Love that Red man. Is it a GM color?
Yes sir it is a GM color #75 Cranberry Red.
Looking good #MotorHedz
Got a 71 sitting in the back yard for 18yrs tucked away
Nice!
Great job filming the Monte’s, I’m sure you could’ve spent hours filming them all !! 👍🏻
Yes sir! There were a lot of cool cars!
