Quant Questions: JP Morgan Interview Question
Просмотров 5 тыс.2 года назад
In this video I go through a popular interview question from JP Morgan for their quant roles. It is a common probability question that has a fairly nice solution in order to solve it. Unit square: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/j.1467-9639.1988.tb00006.x
Quant Questions: Technical Interview Styled Questions for Quants.

In this video I go through three generic quant interview questions with their solutions. If you want more of this type of video, be sure to comment below as I can keep producing them. Resources I have used are: - Quant Job Interview: Questions and Answers (Book by Andrew Downes, Mark S. Joshi, and Nick Denson)
Parabolic Equation to Canonical Form: Questions and Solutions
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.3 года назад
In this video, I go through how to reduce a parabolic equation into canonical form. Canonical form can be very useful as it allows one to simplify the partial differential equation in terms of the highest order (or principal components) . Via this method, it can also allow you to reduce the equation down to a general form in order to obtain solutions in a more simpler method. You can check out ...
How tall are you man!
= 1 - 2 * (3/4)^2 ^^^^^
Hlo are you from Edinburgh
Hi, no i’m not.
That’s nice that you get a cleaner, I wanted to go to this university so bad but due to financial difficulties I couldn’t go.
Same i got accepted but it is so expensive
Same I got accepted but the tuition fee is too much
hey, very insightful video. how is the like "vibe" i suppose of edinburgh vs say london. im not from uk so id like local insight.
Hi, good question! I’d say that there is certainly a great vibe in Edinburgh and it’s safer than London. I always use to think of it like an older styled London. There is certainly a young vibe to it around the uni side of the city and there are great places to eat and drink so in terms of vibe, it’s amazing. It’s the second most visited city in the U.K. after London which shows how popular it is.
What building are you in? Sorry I missed when you said it
Hi Oliver, this was Pentland House
Why is it |x-y|<1/4 ?. Is X and Y the arrival time of Romeo and Juliet...?
That's right, 60/4 = 15.
Please upload more videos
Great video but won't you think that these are fairly easier questions?
nice problem, do you have more quant problems ?
Hi, yes I will be producing a lot more soon. Working on upgrading the content at the moment and then I’ll be uploading quite a few videos a week
@@jamienorth2901 Great also where are you from and what do you do? Are you a full time quant ?
Thanks for sharinggg I applied this year🤞🏻
No problem, good luck 👍
Is there any cheaper rooms mate??
Hi, if you check on the university accommodation website they should have a range of accommodation. The cheapest one that I know of off the top of my head is on called Mylnes court and it’s right in the centre of the city
Hello! Can you please tell how to choose accommodation for Masters degree students? At which criteria should I watch? May be I can write on the Instagram or telegram, because I have more questions!
Hi, message me on Instagram with all the questions you have. It’s Jamielnorth. Will be happy to help out.
Hey hii. I have got allotted in Buccleuch Place……Do you have any idea about it twin sharing room
Hi, I’ve actually got a friend who’s living in that accommodation in the twin room. He doesn’t seem to mind it as he gets on well with his room mate. The bedrooms are on the opposite side of the rooms and you’ll be sharing with around 5 other people in your flat
The judge question can be done in one line. Either the first two agree and are correct with probability p^2, or they dont, in which case you have two identical cases that both require the last to agree with the correct judge. Hence it's just p^2 + 2p(1-p).1/2 = p
Hey there,do you think that i could apply for september,i m an international student and on the Internet i can find Any useful information
if you look at the uni’s website they have the deadlines for each program listed individually. i am also an international student and the application process is pretty standard (i’m postgrad so that might cause some differences). definitely try sending in your application asap as deadlines for september are probably closing
Hello, Jamie! Thank you very much for making this video! I'm thinking about joining in September. I'd like to inquire about the best and most convenient accommodation options near the Chrystal Macmillan Building. I'm a very outgoing and social person, but I need an en suite washroom. Which one would you recommend in terms of proximity to the building and cost?
Hi Neha, I’m going to record a video this week on the right student halls for subject in terms of location and I’ll explain all about the rent prices then.
Thanks for a great video! Please share with us useful links to find accommodation for postgraduate students. Thanks
Hi there, in terms of uni accommodation, I’d recommend searching “Edinburgh Uni Accommodation” on the internet, then you can filter what you are looking for and find the one that’s right for you.
@@jamienorth2901 Thanks!
Hi Jamie. Thnx for the nice video. How much would it cost for a double room for married scholars in Edinburgh?
Hi, I don’t think the university offers studio accommodation for couples (I could be wrong though) if you were looking for a flat privately, you’d be looking at around £600 each potentially.
Thx Jamie for sharing! Am looking to do an exchange at Edinburgh in January 2023
Good luck with your application Syed!
@@jamienorth2901 Wanted to ask, do you know of any cheap accommodations within the 3k budget for 6 months?
There will certainly be some out there, I think Mylnes court do cheap accommodation within the city, it depends if you wanted to stay in university accommodation, if so there is the twin room option. If you didn’t mind about not staying in the university accommodation, you could try SpareRoom or websites like that.
I like the judge question, it can be made a lot more interesting: Don't assume the judges are independent. Then find the maximum and minimum probabilities they reach the correct verdict. For example, consider p= 1/4. Let's say judges make their decision using a Unifom[0,1] Random Variable called U. If U < 1/4 then J1 is correct and the other 2 wrong. If 1/4 < U < 1/2 then J2 is correct and the other 2 wrong , if U > 1/2 then J3 correct and the other 2 wrong. In this case the probability of a correct verdict is 0 . However sticking with p = 1/4 we could have if U < 1/4 then J1 is correct. If 1/4 < U < 1/2 then J2 is correct and if U < 1/2 then J3 is correct. In this case the probability of them finding a correct vercit is 1/2. Notice in both my cases we have the correct probabilities for each judges, that is P(J1 correct ) = P(J2 correct ) = 1/4 , and P(J3) correct = 1/2. I found the general formula but I will leave you to have a go! It was very fun! Consider p < 1/4, |p - 1/2 | < 1/4 and p > 3/4 . Nice vid!
this seems pretty easy to visualise. wlog J3 can have the second half (1/2 < U < 1) and then to maximise we simply have as much overlap as possible, ensuring not to 'waste' space by having them needlessly all agree (since we only require that 2 do)
Oh it's a good modification problem. Definitely interesting
