I also wonder if the knot makes that big of a difference. I know a loop knot is good for certain baits but is one knot good for everything else.
@@nelhead4807 Great question! There are a variety of different fishing knots, but to answer your question, two of my favorite knots to tie when not using a loop knot is the Uni Knot and the Snell Knot. The snell knot is by far one of the most fail-proof fishing knots for tying on a single hook when using cut bait or live bait to fish with. And the Uni knot is simple to tie within seconds and extremely strong. I’ve never had Uni knot fail under tension. So it’s an all around good dependable knot. I hope this helps brother. And Happy New Year 👍
@ thanks man and Happy New Year too you as well !
Fish don't have blue cones in their eyes. How does that affect what they see when it comes to shades of blue?
@@kerryschallon8879 Hello! And Happy New Year to you. Great question my friend! Not all fish species have the same number of cone cell types in their eyes. The number of cone cell types that a fish has, determines what color or colors that they can actually see. Some fish species have more cone cell types than others which allow them to see certain colors that other fish with lesser cone cell types cannot see. So the more cone cell types a fish has, the more range of colors they can see. So to answer your question, if a certain fish species doesn’t posses the cone cells that are responsible for seeing the color blue, then they would just see it as a light or dark object with some sorta shape rather than color. Hope this helps.
@hookedonfishingforreel thank you for the great work you do. Happy New Year to you and yours.
Water temperature changes and different depths. That should be factored in.
Good info, also in most areas finding the changes in water temp can be excellent places to fish.

Hey it is great video! Tell me please what is a Merkury water? I live in Poland, i don't understand :)
@@snow9909 Murky meaning not clear, but very cloudy by nature. When the sediments of the bottom of the ocean or river bed are all stirred up causing the water to look very dirty with no visibility to the human eye. Hope this helps👍
@@hookedonfishingforreel I heard 'Merkury water' instead of 'murky water' :) I already know which colors to use for murky/dirty water, but how does it relate to the sunlight on such water? I mean the set of colors: 1. murky water - sunny 2. murky water - cloudy
@ On both sunny and cloudy days when water is very dirty, dark colors such as dark purple, dark blue, black, are all good. Also, if the water is that dirty throwing a lure that offers some sort of sound or vibration in the water would also help. Hope this helps👍
You caught some decent sized fish 😊. Awesome video🤙🏾🤙🏾

Have you ever noticed a difference on cloudy days vs sunny days? Will less shine mean less bite?
Great question! Yes! I do noticed a difference on cloudy days vs sunny days. I wish we had more overcast days in the year because fish see better on cloudy days as opposed to sunny days. I've caught more fish on overcast days. With less light coming from the clouds, fish can see their prey a lot easier because there's less glare on the water surface. 👍

Will cut up sand trout work ?
Great question my friend ! Me personally, I’ve Never used cut up sand trout before. So I really can’t speak on it. I guess the only way to know if it will work is to give it try. However, I do know they definitely like Threadfins, cut up Lady fish, Pinfish or finger mullet. Please let me know if you catch any on the cut up Sand Trout. I’m curious to find out. 👍

what test is your main line? and what is a good rod/reel set up for a beginner? i will be surf fishing for spanish in the obx. i go after our mackerel up here in maine but is VERY different than spanish (jigging with sabiki). thanks, channel seems great
Hello! These are all great questions. My main line is 15lb braid test. And a good Rod/Reel for starting out would be a 7ft medium action rod. You can’t go wrong with an Ugly Stik rod. They’re tough and won’t break. As far as reels go, you’ll want to stick anywhere between a 2500 or 3000 series reel. If you go with any of these brands: Diawa Regal LT, Penn Pursuit IV or ShimanoI, you can’t go wrong. These are very good sturdy reels and will last a long time. Just don’t forget to wash off your rod and reel after fishing in saltwater. I hope this helps and tight lines my friend👍

Does it matter what color the spoon is? Im new to spoon fishing and also trying to hook up like you on skyway😂.
@@jayysleek Yes sir! it matters because fish can see color. Right now the Mackerel are running pretty thick and are chasing after those bait balls everywhere. They’re trying to fatten up because they’re getting ready to spawn soon. If you want to catch a lot of Mackerel, try throwing a shiny spoon such as a Clark, Sea Striker or KastMaster. 17g and 22g Micro metal lures work great too. I like throwing a black/silver micro lure or white/silver. You might even get lucky and catch a Bonita while throwing any of these lures. I hope this helps 👍
Great video! Very relaxing and to the point! How were you jigging the silver spoon lure? Is it weighted or was it floating at the top?

You were jigging but not reeling in....was the current running hard enough so yoi could just jig like that?
@@fishnski9211 The current wasn’t running really hard, just a nice medium flow. And as it was going out, I would drop the jig straight down in front of me and let let the current take it out about 15 to 20 feet and then start jigging it slowly back towards me.👍
