As do I, honestly. Then again, there's a lot of outfits of Rachel's that I like. She definitely is one of the best dressed characters in the series.

Well, thanks. Honestly, if it wasn't for some of the pretty awesome feats he pulled off (I will freely admit that stuff like him scaring Lonnie Elam and his dumbass friends in the original film made me feel like he has his moments. Definitely keep in mind that Freddy Krueger was my first real exposure to a slasher movie killer, so I guess I was mentally comparing Michael to him in many ways), I would not have some degree of fondness for Michael. Well, in that "He's pure evil, but goddamn, he does it so well" way. So maybe a little bit of Love to Hate?

@@DianneRoberts722 I can see where you think that. It is a very cool, atmospheric scene. Plus, I think they still could have done some cool stuff with it, just the idea of Michael killing Doctor Death (and apparently the brand on his wrist was supposed to just give him eternal life, which I think would have worked fine; I think they could have gone on a little journey in and of themselves to undo the eternal life brand. I think unfortunately nobody bothered to tell Daniel Farrands the truth about that, which could have averted a lot of trouble) and then still being a formidable force of his own. I still really like the idea of the Cult of Thorn, and I like the idea of Wynn himself because yeah, cults aren't really likely to be very common in real life, but someone like Wynn is extremely plausible. Just the idea of someone who, when you strip away the Cult elements, is fucking horrifying: a man who seems trustworthy and kind and reliable, who's able to calm Loomis down when Loomis is upset about Jamie, for example, and even get a rare smile out of him, and then fast forward to the third act of the movie and he turns out to basically to have been abusing Jamie, a child on Loomis' watch, behind Loomis' back without his knowledge the whole time, and he turns out to have been abusing Michael behind Loomis' back the whole time while lying compulsively about it, and thinking that he's genuinely doing nothing wrong but is doing something righteous and wonderful. It doesn't help that I've kind of met my share of people kind of like Doctor Wynn: not that any of them were fanatical cult leaders controlling serial killers (thank God) but one instance was a guy who I thought I could trust who turned out to be psychologically abusing a former friend of his (who I also happened to be friends with) behind my back. If it wasn't for said former friend of his in question, I would have been completely gaslighted and duped. So yeah, Thorn? Not likely to exist. People with Wynn's personality? Absolutely likely to exist. I think they still could have done something with him even in the alternate Doctor Death timeline, like he becomes Doctor Death's successor. That could have still been pretty interesting!

Thanks! Definitely agreed here. I think there is something about James Earl Jones’ delivery where Vader sounds more vulnerable than you’ve ever heard him. (And David Prowse’s acting too. Shit, fuck 2020 for taking David Prowse. Among other people) I actually remember going over TV Tropes’ page for The Lion King and one very cute observation they made was just gushing about how wonderful Jones’ voice acting was for Mufasa and how he really easily slid into the role of fun, cool dad. (I have this joking headcanon that Mufasa is basically like Vader’s good counterpart parenting wise. Basically having all of Vader’s genuine love for his son but channeled in a much healthier manner, and having a healthier marriage with Sarabi than Vader’s deteriorating marriage with Padme. Hell, you could even say that Scar and Palpatine have some similarities, though unlike Scar, Palpatine doesn’t even have the very understandable-at-first motive of jealousy and resentment; the guy just wants to do things for shits and giggles as far as anyone knows) But I think that between The Lion King and Star Wars, James Earl Jones really is incredibly talented. He can do anything. Loving father and good king? Can do. Conflicted three dimensional villain who needs a good therapist? Can do. (Then again, I think a lot of the Sith - except Palpatine - really need a hug and a good therapist. I wouldn’t go so far as to say the Jedi are evil - because it’s like, no, Anakin; they’re not the one who ordered a massacre. Plus, I think it’s abundantly clear that the intention was to show that Anakin had completely lost the plot - but it’s definitely a case of unfortunately, they’re not perfect by a long shot and because it’s Star Wars, one stupid mistake they make has to cause a domino effect. Hell, that’s how some of them become Sith)

Ugh, yeah. I can see what you mean. I know the original script definitely did try to remedy this by having Jamie sacrifice herself instead, and also having Michael not be the one to impregnate her, but it’s like…fuck you, executives, for even thinking that was a good idea. I do remember Daniel Farrands saying in an interview that he wasn’t allowed to include Jamie and Laurie from the start in 6 and the only way that he was allowed at all to do so was the whole idea of “passing the torch”, and, well, cue the Rosemary’s Baby thing. So honestly, as much as people think it was the executives only meddling with the script, I kind of wonder if 6 was kind of hampered from the start because Jamie Lloyd was not allowed to come back. (And I am fully aware that I am reading too much into this)

I guess you can definitely go with that. Honestly, given that I can’t really unsee Danielle as Jamie especially in a Halloween film, it’s pretty obvious. The Zombie films kind of do feel at times like what would happen if Danielle reprised her role as Jamie. Though ironically, I did see some similarities between Scout’s Laurie and Jamie Lloyd, especially with the really horrible nightmares she has. I think too, one reason I feel sympathy for Scout’s Laurie is that I do see similarities between my own intrusive thoughts and stuff like Laurie going into seizures about Michael. And for that matter, another reason I see Jamie parallels with myself is that stuff like the psychic link flashes? Definitely a good metaphor for intrusive thoughts. And it’s like - the fact that they’re both portrayed as heroic characters or at least well-meaning does kind of suggest that they’re just normal human beings who are going through a genuinely horrible thing.
